"Don't anger the dolls"-A France and DLP Trip, June '18-COMPLETED (4/22-ride comparisons)

Part 8 – Happy Anniversary Mickey!

After lunch I headed back up to the castle stage to watch “Happy Anniversary Mickey”, the special stage show they did for the 35th anniversary. Though I learned my lesson and this time instead of going to the front, I went to the standing area that is up higher so I could get a fence spot and not have little kids pushing in front of me! Much better! (I would highly recommend this spot for any stage shows if you don’t care about being in the front row, as you get a full view of the whole show and don’t have to worry about people getting in your way.)

LXolDOK.jpg

The overall show is cute but pretty basic, a little song about each land and the appropriate characters come out. I’m glad I saw it but also glad I didn’t camp out a spot for hours!

Full video of the show (not from me):

Opening sequence with Goofy and Max (DLP really likes Max - they did a whole show and dance with him for some of their special AP parties; I'm not complaining!)

And at the end everyone comes out for a big group photo and Mickey! Oh and the fountains go off, which I liked

Part 9 – Window shopping in Adventureland

Afterwards I headed up and went on storybook canal boats again. I was going to video for the music and all, but there was a girl behind me who talked the whole time (with the wrong info), so it was irritating and I quickly decided not to bother! And I forgot to note my boat name again!

Afterwards decided to check the mid-east area of Adventureland. And I saw Jafar come down into photopass spot.

Treasures of Sherahazad store was very cool (I think it was supposed to be under refurb, but I’m not complaining that I got to see it!) So simple outside and then you go inside and wow!

And I checked out The Curious Giraffe store – also adorable! I mean look at that detail outside – the car on the roadbank and the sign post is knocked down!

Coming up - International Dismeet!

Walt’s looks really nice! I like how the rooms are themed to the different lands!

Walt's looks gorgeous, wow! As someone who has been in a Club 33 room, that honestly looks better in a way. I'm sure the actual Club 33 is much nicer but WOW, I wanna go there now. Also I love how you sniped the family with the selfie stick getting told off. Hilarious.

It still throws me so much that they have that Return to Oz castle on the Canal boats in DLP. It feels so out-of-place but it's lowkey super cool since no one really talks about that movie in terms of Disney (I've never seen it but I know it's reputation).

I need that Scar shirt. My eternal mood lol

It looks like you are in a house. I love it.

Dessert: Chocolate cake with tonka bean ganache and cocoa nibs crispy biscuit. This was very rich.

This looks delish!

That is a pretty good viewing area!

Ha. Peter looks like this is the part of the show where he talks about the dark period in Mickey's life but how he prevailed.

Disney World needs this store in Adventureland!

Lunch was at Walt’s. It is so well themed, like a Club 33 open to the public!
Why is this my only quote?! In any case, Walt's looks just beautiful. The food looks pretty fancy for me (and ick, I agree with you on the mustard covered potatoes. Gross!) but I think I would like to dine there just to take a walk through those beautiful rooms. I love all the pics of Walt, especially with the old Mickey plush!

Good call watching the Happy Anniversary show from higher up this time. Glad you had no fools surrounding/pushing you around this time!

Walt's looks stunning! If the kids were just a little bit older I would love to eat there myself and explore the rooms, but I don't think they are quite ready for there yet.

Yeah that was a nice design idea!

I was surprised to see the Emerald City on the ride! But hey, I guess it fits!

It definitely was good seeing the show from higher up. Less frustrating and a way to see the whole stage!

The restaurant looks so beautiful!

Sounds like a good afternoon!
Yeah it was nice and turned out even better!

Yeah probably not. There were families with kids, but it's expensive for what you get.

Another apology for the delay. I should be getting this one finished soon!

Part 10 – Discovery Arcade

I think at this point I considered taking another ride on the Molly Brown, but then I got a text from Alicia that she and her family had arrived and were going to stop in the studios to ride Slinky. We made a plan to meet up in Town Square at the front of the park. (I did misjudge time, and probably would have had time to ride the riverboat, but oh well!)

H9pTvo1.jpg

I walked down to the front through Discovery Arcade (like Liberty Arcade, but on the other side of Main Street). This one talks more about inventions and technology but with an old-timey feel

I also checked out Christmas shop. Only 1 ornament that screamed Disneyland Paris, but it seemed so breakable it wouldn’t last.

Though I regretted not getting this headband!

Eventually I found a nice “peaceful” spot on a bench in the center of Town Square

Part 11 – An International Dismeet!

At this point, I don’t have photos for the next 2 hrs! I did steel some from Alicia's TR though (https://www.disboards.com/threads/s...8-dlp-tr-updated-4-8-race-weekend-x2.3702014/). But I focused more on enjoying my time with an awesome Disney family!

Shortly before my trip I was reading one of Alicia's Trip Reports and she gave a countdown of days until they visited Disneyland Paris again. I did some quick math and realized that overlapped with my trip! So we coordinated and decided to meet up on their arrival day.

I did give Landon and Evie little water books-Tinkerbell for Landon and Safari for Evie, based on what I read from Alicia’s previous TR (yes, I bribe children to like me). [These are the books I got, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reusable, lightweight activity for travelling kids: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A1AJYBA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1]. I know we walked up and ended up riding Big Thunder, first me, Alicia and Landon. Landon asked to ride with me. I’ve never done a coaster with a little kid, so forgot that the shared bar wasn’t exactly going to hold him and me down, so I eventually had to put my arm around him to prevent him from bouncing around! But he was adorable and wanted to ride again.

05.JPG 06.JPG

After we got off, Alex (Alicia’s husband) went for a ride, and I gave them one of my extra FPs for Landon to ride again too, while Alicia and I had girl time with Evie (ie talked Disney while Evie "watered her animals").

We walked back to central square and parade was getting ready to kick off, but it was way too late for us to get any good spots. I convinced Landon to go on Peter Pan, and with some extra FPs, all 5 of us got to ride together. Evie had a bit of a fit loading on, but at the end she really liked it, which was adorable!

Then Evie wanted to ride carousel, and it wasn’t too bad of a wait (I think we had to wait for 2 turns), so we did. Some annoying teens thought they’d try to cut in line (at a carousel?) and Alex was not having that, so actually “inadvertently” pushed one into a flower bed – she was trying to walk up the stone wall behind him!

01.JPG 02.JPG

I think Alex went to check out Sir Mickeys, but I just know I took some photos of the garden outside!

w3zkIVy.jpg

For dinner the group of us ended up going to Chalet au Marionette. I got the Roast Chicken meal, which wasn’t too bad. It also wasn’t a peak meal time so it wasn’t too crowded or noisy inside. (We did have an accidental incident with spilled milk, but nothing too crazy.)

MeSil5C.jpg
b9mOGJS.jpg

It was time to tuck kids in (I think it was a long day they had), on our way out we went thru the dragon. I held up Landon (I hope I didn’t traumatize him too bad), so no photos. Then took some castle photos (and I had a photobomber for one).

Overall an awesome dismeet! It was great having some new friends to meet up with, and I hope we will see each other again soon!

After we split up, I headed back to the hotel to pack a bit, as I was leaving the next day. Walking thru Disney Village they had the balloon going (I think it was the only time I saw it active, because other times it was closed for wind/rain).

I had planned on going back for Illuminations, but after a bit of packing I laid down a moment. Rookie Mistake! I definitely didn’t want to get up again! And so I ended up deciding, despite it being my final night, I just couldn’t drag myself back to the parks and ended up missing Illuminations again. Oh well, it’s not my favorite show, so I wasn’t too upset.

Coming up: My final day at DLP and travel home!

What an awesome DIS meet!! Sounds like a really fun first day for them and last day for you :) And an excellent use of some of your bonus fast passes :)

I caught back up!

I actually bought the tinkerbell Christmas ornament! It was actually pretty sturdy and they wrapped it well enough that it made the journey from Paris to Manchester, England to Toronto in one piece! I wish I had taken more pictures during our time there but I made the decision to try to soak up as much as I could without a camera (which I now regret! Lol)

What a fun dismeet!!

Just got caught up! I need to book our stay in the next week before the summer promotion of 35% off ends. I'm leaning toward the hotel that resembles the Yacht Club now to save some money... Decisions, decisions! I want to book two nights, but we wouldn't have time to use the park tickets for our departure day. Any tips?

Looks like a fun meetup with Alicia and her family! Her kids are so cute and I love reading her TR's about their adventures!

Hmm, have you checked about if the rates are cheaper to book via a third party and then just buy tickets separately? I honestly don't know though if that is cheaper - I didn't really explore that option since they had the 2 nights/days free. (Also I don't know if that causes issues for EMT, because they were checking Magic Access Cards to get access to the EMT and I don't know if you get one if you just book a hotel room, not a package.

Yeah, I'm a bit concerned since Disney doesn't sell tickets and rooms separately so wasn't sure if it would cause issues.

Yes, you get the Magic Pass for the room, not the package! You'll have access to EMT with a third party booking and separate tickets

That's good to know, thanks! I'll do some price comparisons. I'd prefer to just book directly through Disney's site - the UK site has the good sale right now I think.
