• Sleeping on a sawdust-stuffed mattress in a hot pink room in a non-English-speaking stranger’s tiny, corrugated metal and wood house that didn’t have indoor plumbing thanks to an unfortunate incident involving our rental car and a muddy mountain.

• A leek festival that I ended up at only because I really needed to use a public toilet, but I felt guilted into staying because the locals were so excited an out-of-towner had come to their village’s biggest annual celebration. To be fair, the leeks were impressively large.

My brother in law gave me a tour of a Navy submarine in Norfolk just before his retirement. I was amazed and very anxious all at the same time.

It's probably not unusual for a lot of people, but I never thought I would ever go to Columbia. We did the DCL Panama Canal cruise and stopped at Cartagena for a day and it was beautiful. Very different then what I was expecting, and also the same.
Being a teenager when Romancing the Stone came out, I definitely never thought I would go there.

Macau, off the coast of China. Not far from Hong Kong. It was a Portuguese colony until 1999 and then was returned to China. It's a big casino gambling mecca.

Been to Scotland, England, Austria, and going to Cornwall in June. It's not really unusual, though. Another not unusual place, most recently at work:

Perhaps the Electric Brae in Ayrshire Scotland. There’s an optical illusion where uphill seems to be downhill & vice versa.

Not at all an uncommon place to visit, but definitely an “unusual” place would be Yellowstone.

Twice a year they have special events here. We went a couple of years ago to “Journey With Dorothy”. It was so much fun. I had wanted to go to Oz since I was a kid but it closed before I got there.
