Thanks!! I can use all the cheers I can get. I forgot how nervous new apps always make me feel!!!

P2 was approved for CIP with "business". Revenue listed as $1,500, years in business as 4 (not sure it matters but I calculated when P2 applied for his first "business" card), selected Retail, Misc, All Other as type. He buys/sells on eBay, mostly hobby type stuff. $5K limit which is just fine with me.

I called status line for my CSR that went pending and got the 30 day message. Should I call or wait?

Quick question. On recon with Chase, they didn't want to extend more credit so moving $10K from my crazy high Freedom (currently $32K). Then should be approved.

Since I plan to do the CSP tomorrow, should I proactively ask them to further lower the Freedom, say from the new $22K down to $5K? That should free plenty for the CSP tomorrow (hopefully?) Thanks!

Ignore my ramblings :)

Officially approved for CSR after moving credit around. Proactively lowered my Freedom by another $12K (leaving me with $10K) to hopefully free up some room for CSP tomorrow.

Expedited CSR on the way so I can start spending.

Thank you again for you advice, tips, and most importantly, support!! Couldn't do this without you all!!

Wow CONGRATS! Good luck on your CSP tomorrow. If you don’t already have a link to use for that card (ie spouse or friend), please consider using a DISchurners link :)

Awesome! And I think you made a good call, we've had reports of Chase refusing to let people move CL around so that is becoming YMMV.

I want to take a minute to post a giant THANK YOU to all of the people who put so much time into this thread. I first started lurking on here a bit less than a year ago to try to figure out how to pay for two expensive May 2019 trips. DH and I wanted to go to Barcelona for a milestone wedding anniversary, and we wanted to take our kids on their first Disney World trip. DD2 has some expensive medical issues that are not fully covered by insurance, so we weren't sure we could afford either of these trips, much less both.

Thanks to this thread, I was able to plan both trips under budget, and we leave for them in just a few weeks! I am so excited for my DD2, who has been such a trooper, to meet her hero Minnie Mouse (and for her big sister to meet, as she says, "All the princesses!"). It would not have been possible without everyone's helpful advice here. So thank you, and please know that you make a real difference in people's lives!

I can't keep up with you all! :) I wanted to personally comment and thank those of you who answered my questions and helped us get started, but that was 100 + pages ago.

We had to call recon last week on DH's CIP because we are moving and one card had the new address, but our other Chase cards still had the old. Had to go to a branch to prove DH was DH, and then were approved. Expedited the card and received it Tuesday. We already met the MSR. :scared: In all fairness, we are buying furniture for our new AirBnB, so we knew we could spend it quickly.

New question - DH has the CSR, and I will apply for the CSP. But, if I open a CIP as well, do I need to wait 3 months for my CSP?? I didn't know if Chase needed business and personal cards spread out like they do personal ones. I already made sure my Chase credit limits were low enough - just didn't know how to space the applications. Hope that made sense.

Thanks!!!!!

Argh. This is why I dislike the legacy air carriers.

I went to check on our flight from Alaska in Sep booked through AA and when I selected it I got " We couldn’t display trip details Please contact Reservations, for help."

Uh oh. This sounds bad, am I right?

AFAIK I think the first leg operated by Alaska Air doesn't exist anymore - I can't find it - so I guess this is what the problem is? When this happens to folks, is that the kind of error you get?
The AA leg of that ticket still looks like it exists so I guess I have that going for me? (And probably why I have no notice of anything wrong :sad2:)

How do I check to see what's going on/available before I call up the reservations line? This was a one way Firct Class sAAver award I booked in Nov.

As promised here is a quick Spring Break Aruba trip report.
We booked this trip in February so only about 6 weeks before our trip. I booked our flights through the CSR UR Portal. I could have transferred points to Jet Blue and paid with less points, but the taxes and fees were high so I decided to just the portal. Total cost for airfare was about $2620 so we used 174,908 UR points. We each earned over 1000 miles True Blue points for our points. I love family pooling on Jet Blue! We also love flying Jet Blue. I feel like the seats are comfortable and the televisions are reliable. I love that they give you as many snacks and drinks as you want. We have always had good experiences with them.
We decided to rent a car so we could have more flexibility exploring the island. We rented from Drive 4 Cheap and it was $195 for our 6 days. They met us right outside the airport we signed a few papers and we were on our way. It was so easy and I would definitely use them again!
We stayed our first night at the Renaissance Aruba Resort. The resort is 35,000 points and I had a free night certificate from my Marriott Bonvoy card. This resort is actually 2 hotels the Marina which is adults only and the Ocean Suites. Because we have kids we stayed in the Ocean Suites and there was an extra $102.50 charge. We really enjoyed staying here. It is really close to the airport and has lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. They also have a private island with flamingos which was our main motivation staying here. (I feel conflicted about this because I know their wings are clipped, but once my kids saw pictures it was a must do.) The island is beautiful and we spent a fun day there. The pools at the hotel were good too and their happy hour has $4 drinks and $2.50 smoothies for the kids which was fantastic.
The next 5 nights we stayed at the Aruba Marriott Stellaris. It is 50,000 points per night and with the 5th night free we used 200,000 points. There wasn't any extra resort or parking fees which was nice. This resort is located in the high rise section of the island on Palm Beach. The hotel is great and even though I think we must have had the worst views in the hotel (they checked for an upgrade, but said there wasn't anything available) I loved our location. We could get from our room to the pool in 1 minute and only another 2 minute walk to the beach! It is busy and if you want a seat by the pool in the shade you need to be down fairly early. They have an online system to reserve a Palapa on the beach which worked out really well for us one day. You have to be on the resort at 4:00 to reserve for the next day so it's not super convenient, but if you are there it is easy to do. The pool was fun with waterfalls, a volleyball net and a bar in the pool. The beach was gorgeous with white sand and warm water.
We also used 19,200 UR points to go snorkeling with the Jolly Pirates one morning. This was one of the highlights of our trip. The workers were fun, there was an open bar, the snorkeling was meh, but the rope swing was awesome.
We rented a jeep to explore the other side of the island one day. We rented from More 4 Less for $160 for the day. You need a 4x4 to get to the natural pool in Arikok National Park and it was an awesome day. We visited the donkey sanctuary, went off roading down to the natural pool and visited the caves.
The rest of the time we spent at the pools and the beach. We went parasailing right from the Marriott beach and walked to dinner most nights. Because we have kids we didn't do as many nice dinners as we would like, but we enjoyed the Bugaloe Beach Bar and Moomba's Bar was fun also.
This was such a fun Spring Break and it was a fun and easy island to explore with kids. Let me know if anyone has any questions!
Ok, now I really want to go to Aruba! Our Spring Break is really lame since DS only has Fri and Mon off.

First, congrats!!
Second, the general recommendation on 2-3 months between Chase apps is for both Biz and personal apps. So the conservative approach would be to wait 2-3 months after the CIP to go for the CSP. However, if the rest of your velocity seems ok, according to the soft application "rules" for Chase you could apply for the CSP right after the CIP as personal cards follow a 1/30 rule where you are allowed to have one Chase application (biz or personal) within the previous 30 days of application. Otherwise it can go straight to denial. Biz cards have a 0/30 rule where you can't have any Chase applications (biz or personal) in the previous 30 days of application.
The longer you can wait between apps, usually the easier the approval so if you can wait a month between that usually the minimum recommendation (assuming the rest of your Chase history is clear) but it's not a firm rule as long as you do the Biz app first.

I won't tell you not to cause I'm planning the same thing later this year. I will only have like 4k though :) And then gonna start on dh's collection later this year.

Impressed with your 12k!

I hit Amex hard. Lots of self referrals for 20,000 MR and got every MR earning Biz card for the both of us. Didn’t do anything else besides that yet. Haven’t maxed my Gold 4x yet or anything. And then I saw people on reddit are maxing the BBP for 2x on GCM so that’s added to my list. Maybe in December I’ll pull the trigger on the Schwab Plat so I can triple dip the airline credits.

I earned 12k worth in a bit over a year, so maybe I can add another 12k worth in 8 months?? Cash out 12k and then keep the rest lol.

I couldn’t comment earlier, but I was thinking that large $32k CL could’ve played a role in why your CSR app went pending. Glad recon worked out and you were able to transfer CL over from the Freedom to open the CSR. Again, debatable how soon a reduction in the Freedom CL will have any effect in increasing your odds of approval on a subsequent CSP application. It’s effective immediately in Chase’s system, but they’ll still see it at $32k when they pull your credit reports. But I’m glad you left $10k on your Freedom because if the CSP app goes pending tomorrow, you should call recon and may have to offer to move at least $5k from your Freedom to open the CSP. So at least you have that cushion. Good luck tomorrow! And congrats to your husband on the CIP and you on the CSR!

@DisneyMandC @amalone1013 Jeremy teared up because of saying goodbye to top gear. So they weren't fale tears for drama like I thought. S4ULd_QzmvlWZk9DeXFTaxzXZYPzcbZ9jxfaz3naM

I definitely didn't think they were fake tears! He really looked upset. I can understand what he's saying about never really being able to say goodbye to Top Gear though. Even though I rationally know that he was in the wrong in that whole situation, I still think the BBC are idiots for trying to continue the show with other hosts. There's no way they're making any money off of it.
