@Lain - FB just reminded me that today marks the one year anniversary of you turning @PlanePrincess and I into a meme :rotfl:

@Lain and @SouthFayetteFan I've been toying with the idea of applying for the AA Barclay's business card, but I'm worried because of my recent Bonvoy, Citi AA and CIP (sadly MSRs already met on all).

Here's where I'm at currently:

Hyatt Chase Personal July, 2018
Chase Ink Preferred Business September, 2018
AmEx Hilton Aspire Personal 14-Dec-18
AmEx Hilton Business Business 27-Jan-19
AmEx Bonvoy Business Business 18-Mar-19
Chase Ink Preferred #2 Business 23-Mar
AA Citi Bus (40,000 pts) Business 13-Apr-19
Marriott Brilliant Personal 30-Apr-19

Thoughts on applying for the AA Barclay's card?

On this whole cruise note... My best course of action for our cruise next month, would be to put down a placeholder deposit onboard, so I would get Disney's 10% off and on board credit deal, and then transfer it to Costco within 30 days... so I would then get Costco's cash card on whatever I booked plus the 2% executive reward if I was executive when I traveled (some day lol)
Yes!

Fyi for anyone that is approved for a Barclay card and needs it right away, I was approved yesterday around 11 am, paid the $15 expedited fee, and rec'd the card today by 11 am, via FedEx overnight. Got my Plastiq payment for my 6/1 mortgage pmt scheduled today :D
I just applied for the Barclays AA Biz and instant approval! I’m shocked. I have a Barclays personal sock drawered. I kept it for the free bags although now I’ll ditch it, since I have a CitiBiz and Barclays Biz.

Haven't read this but from what I saw on the news earlier it's still not going to be soon that the planes are back in the area if the comments from the committee hearing are accurate. Will have to see if I can catch our local news aviation expert tonight as I'm sure he'll update everything between this and the hearing.
Yeah - this appears to be a long path back to the air with paying customers. This is probably the first of many steps. Consumer trust will be another interesting question mark in all of this - we shall see...

Did you call to get it expedited? Which card, Arrival or AA? I just got approved for the AA Biz card and would love to have it ASAP
(Sorry I quoted you twice. Lol. Got carried away)

So here's the deal for you YTD:

Amex only knows you got 2 cards
Chase only knows you got 2 cards (and one isn't reporting yet since you just got it so really 1)
Citi only knows you got 2 cards (and that isn't reporting yet since you just got it so really 1)
Barclays only knows you got 1 card (and that isn't reporting yet since you just got it so really 0)

So basically...As far as Barclays knows, you haven't gotten ANY cards since December 2018. Unless they get hung up on your number of hard pulls (and those may be spread across multiple reports AND amex sometimes doesn't pull at all) then you have nothing to worry about.

THIS my friends...is the BEAUTY of biz cards :D

:sad1:

I found a moment to chat with Amex today about the SPG Lux replacement card, told them I really didn't like the new card design and hate the new "Bonvoy" and "Brilliant" names. Unfortunately, the rep said once I receive the new replacement card, the old (purple) card will soon be deactivated. No way to keep using my purple card. I guess I'll put some recurring charges on the Lux and Personal accounts to keep them active, but sock drawer the cards so I don't have to look at the new designs.

He did say he'd share my feedback regarding the new card design with management. So if you think the new Amex Bonvoy cards are ugly (or the Bonvoy name ridiculous) and have a few minutes, let Amex know.

Boo! I received my ugly matte black (NOT purple) Bonvoy Brilliant (ugh) today. My AF isn't due until August but I am definitely considering pc'ing it or canceling since it's unattractive af. I will definitely let them know that's the reason, too!

On the (very small) bright side, Marriott finally gave me credit for DH's $600 stay at the Orlando Gaylord Palms two weeks ago so that was nice (double points, double nights, all on The Company Dime) :)

Also, thanks @Lain for the Amex offer (rimowa) head's up-I had the offer on my plat and DD's so hoping I'll actually use it-hard to resist the siren call of MRs.

New AmEx offer for Omni Hotels -

Omni Hotels & Resorts, Spend $250 or more, get $50 backfrom 5/16/2019 to 9/9/2019

Here's an interesting Amex Offer for those who love high quality luggage:

Rimowa: Spend $500+, get 15,000 Membership Rewards points or $150 statement credit. Expires 7/15/19

For details: https://frequentmiler.boardingarea....t-15k-membership-rewards-points-150-targeted/

P.S. I got the MR points version of this offer on DW’s Gold AU (for some reason, this card gets offers mostly in MR).

P.P.S. I got the Spend $30+, get 500 MR x3 at Phillips 66/76/Conoco Amex Offer just now on my BGR (yay! 3x MR), after it wasn't there when I checked this morning!

and why oh why do you hurt me so AmEx? Finally get a MR points offer! It's the Rimowa spend $500 get 15000 MR :( Not gonna happen (unless it has really good resale potential?) Why couldn't have been the Casper offer that I may actually entertain? Oh well, maybe next time.

THANK YOU! I am a bit worried about the pulls. I got a notification from Life Lock when I applied for the Brilliant and if I recall 1 of the AmEx business cards as well. Guess it doesn't hurt to try, right?

On another note, I successfully booked flights to Male a few minutes ago on Aeroplan. Toronto to Delhi, 7 hour layover, then Delhi to Male. There are 2 small problems: i) no return flights (looking at you UR points) and ii) the only flight all in business class gets there a day before my reservation -- April 4th at 10:00am (our reservation starts on the 5th). So I now need an additional 100,000 points to snag a room on the 4th. Need another sale on Hilton points because I'm not paying $2,600 / night for the extra night and apparently the hotel options in Male are rather dismal.

Arrival Plus. It was actually an option on the app but it didn't say how long it would take. Not sure if it's an option for the AA biz, but you could always call and ask. Good luck!

So I got my Jetblue biz card from Barclay. Activated mine and my husband's employee cards. Tried to do transactions online and they wouldn't go through. Also tried at the grocery store, not authorized.

Called in and I'm being told I need to fax in business documentation. I explained I'm a sole proprietor and I do not have any business documents. They said to fax in my tax returns and I asked personal tax returns? And they just keep saying any documentation.

I asked why this is being requested after I was approved and not before and no one can give me an answer. I know people have had to send in all sorts of crazy things before approval, but why after? And I'm sure my clock to meet the spend has already started. Good thing it's only $1000.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should I just fax in my personal tax returns?

It was the 2nd story after the new measles threat here but they didn't have their aviation guy do it. All it said was they were done with the testing etc on the new software, they are working on training materials and the FAA has to approve it. So I'm guessing it'll come down to how quick/slow the FAA approves it and considering the scrutiny they'll be under after how it was approved the first time I'm sure it'll take a bit. Then it'll be up to the airlines to get their pilots trained and however long they take to do that.

I know that to avoid the Amex popup, it’s important that I put some amount of regular spend on my Plat card. 2 of my kids are AU on the card. Do you think their spend will count favorably towards keeping the pop-up away? I don’t know how much I will use mine but they buy food at school plus movies and other social stuff will be regular spend on theirs.

A few Plastiq questions.

When paying a mortgage (using MasterCard) do you need to indicate in the memo to apply as a regular payment or an extra payment? If I schedule the payment to arrive a week or so before our automatic deduction do most banks skip that withdrawal or still process it (I know each bank can be different, just trying to get a general idea).

For HELOC, we have an open line of credit from the purchase of our house (to avoid PSI at the time). We haven’t touched it since we paid it off but we can draw from it at anytime. Do I need to first withdraw money and then schedule a payment?

Sorry for all the questions!

What is the Amex Platinum that would have been issued in 1994? Trying to help my mom plan some stuff and she has this card, she says she thinks its about $100 AF on it. I don't like her paying AF for a card she never uses.

if it were me I would call the phone number on the back of the card and ask the
question about a card . History . Fee . etc

:fish:
