Thoughts on the $300 Halloween party pass for all parties?

So you need to go to 4 parties to come out ahead in this deal. I don't think oodles of people will want to do that. And as others mentioned, if they do go 4+ times, chances are they will not stay for the entire party each time. So I don't know that I would worry terribly about an increase in crowds. It will be as crowded as always. :)

If you are a local chances are you have an AP so you can get your MNSSHP ticket at $80 or you or you know someone who is a CM and tickets for them are $60. That's at least 4 visits to break even. IDK if a lot of people would go more than that and even if they did I just don't see how it would make a huge impact on crowds. Just my opinion and only time will tell
The $80 parties are in August and September. The date I was looking at is Friday, October 11th (Columbus Day Friday, my kids are off school for 5 days for Fall Break). With an AP, the cost of each ticket in October is $110+tax. Without an AP, it's $115+tax. You come out ahead if you plan 3 of these October visits. I bet this will be attractive to visitors without PH tickets. You can go to a park in the day ad then "hop" to MK for the party at 4pm. I think many will take advantage of these passes. There are 4 evenings of parties per week in October. It won't be hard to attend at least 3 if you are staying for a full week.

I am not thrilled about the parties being over capacity. Will they even "sell out" this year? We did not have a great experience in 2017 with the crowds just being cray, and skipped the party last year because of that. This year, I am intrigued by the new fireworks show. It's almost $500 for our family to attend 1 night. I will be watching the reviews closely!

My question is how will this ticket be treated as far as FP media is concerned? Will it be treated as an AP? The APs normally take "precedence" in MDE over other tickets. Meaning, if you have a 10-day ticket and an AP and you have one or more days of FPs booked without an onsite stay, you will be capped at 7 days, even though you have a 10-day ticket in your account. If this MNSSHP is treated in MDE as a type of annual pass, it could actually make things worse for those with any FP days booked without an onsite stay.

I don’t know, $300 per person is a tough pill to swallow for a single vacation for what amounts to maybe 3-4 opportunities to hop to MK.

I’m serious when I say this seems like an influencer pass, or maybe a Halloween party superfan. I can’t see a family of 4 happily forking over $1200 on top of their regular park tickets when they could just get one Halloween party and normal hoppers that have a lot more flexibility for less money.

It also introduces yet *another* ticket option to the mix, which has been extremely confusing for the last couple years as is! I can't imagine trying to plan a WDW trip for the first time right now. I'd look at all the info and say screw it, we're going somewhere that isn't so complicated to plan.

I swear when friends ask me approximately how much a trip would be for them their eyes glaze over when I start explaining all the factors that need to be considered, even when I’m just talking tickets.

As someone who is going to the MNSSHP for the first time this year, I'm not happy with this pass. Especially the timing of it. We bought our tickets about a week before this pass was announced. While I don't think it would have ultimately caused us not to have purchased our tickets, I wish we had known about it before we committed to buying. (We are doing an adults only weekend trip and considered doing Halloween Horror nights at Universal instead.)

It will be our only Disney park time this year and we were hoping to take advantage of some shorter ride wait times (not interested in characters or collecting candy) and the pass seems like it will just pack more people into the park for the party.

Interesting offer.

Our travels will put us at WDW during 4 MNSSHP dates spanning the beginning to end of party season. We were probably going to do two parties during that time anyway.

The way the prices fall for our possible MNSSHP dates, three parties would exactly break even with the cost of the pass. More than I had planned to do (and pay for), but I’m intrigued by the flexibility of four parties vs just the two we had planned to do.

My kids are younger so sometimes staying until 12am just isn’t in the cards, so spreading that time out over a few more nights has some appeal in my circumstances.

I guess that means I’m part of the target demo for this - make it just attractive enough to get me to part with more of my money than planned.

It is now a totally non exclusive exclusive event. Thanks Disney.

Hopefully it will not make a big difference capacity wise.

I think its pretty underhanded tho, as it basically means there is no capacity limit any more - at least in theory.

The notion of "boycotting" Disneyland or Disney World cracks me up. While it may make YOU feel better (and that's important), there are 10 people behind you that will purchase tickets no matter what. There's no use going if you're going to be bitter, upset and/or angry. That's no fun. It's supposed to be FUN!
I agree. Any time I feel this way I realize I would just be punishing myself & my family.

I may consider this as there are 5 parties during our 9 day trip. Even though I cannot include Halloween, I could attend at least 4 of them and may be able to enter the park at 2:00 for at least 2 of those dates that I don't have other park plans. It's a good deal for me as I only purchased a 3 day pass because I was waiting on DAH events. I could use the 3 day ticket for 2 Epcot days and 1 DHS and maybe do a DAK DAH if Disney finally decides to offer any in October.

so if I purchased this pass there are 5 nights of parties during our trip, this would mean we could go all 5 nights and enter the park those days at 4pm? or would it be 7pm?

We are going at the end of October/early November and had purchased tickets for 3 parties. The pass saved us money, plus we can go to a 4th party for no extra admission fee. It worked out great for us if for no reason than we have 4 shots to see the parade, the fireworks, and the special characters (and did I mention the snacks? lol)

I've never been to a Halloween party, but thought that the Christmas party that I attended had SO many people and didn't really have shorter waits for things. It seems like the Halloween parties could be particularly overcrowded, especially on weekends when locals could go.

I'm going to be paying close attention to how many people are buying these passes & the crowd reports. Because if they're pulling this for MNSSHP, I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same for MVMCP (which is the time I'll be going down)

[Edit]Going to be honest. After retrospect I wouldn't mind if this type of pass was the ONLY option or at least the more common alternative to a single party ticket. I'm not a local but tend to spend 7-9 days at WDW which would give me the opportunity to experience 4 parties (hypothetically). I would give serious consideration if they made a switch to this model & it cut down on crowds at these parties.

So let me understand this:

1. Disney closes MK early several times in September/October (and now August)
2. Disney charges for single tickets to stay later in the park for "exclusive content"
3. Disney now sells blank tickets to stay later in the park for all of August/September/October.

At which point will Disney start selling tickets so you have access to the park 9-12am, then 12-6pm, and 6-12pm? They are chop shopping daily tickets for all of Fall to MK.

How many days in those 90 days of operation does your day ticket actually get you a full day?

We’re there for 7 days in October (6 park days), there is literally one day with full MK hours. 4 Halloween parties and a random 6 PM close on a Tuesday.

These parties, after/before hours events and special things make BANK$$$$$$. Disney is genius for doing it. People buy it up. There is so much competition to get in on these things it's silly. Something sold out in 2 minutes this morning. They are not catering to the budget traveler who buys base tickets.
