New Halloween Fireworks show HUGE letdown - music GONE.

We liked it but had never seen Hallowishes. However, we think Happily Ever After is a superior show.

I highly recommend watching a youtube video of HalloWishes and you'll understand. Also, I agree HEA is a superior show....but they actually use music with words and "umph" that means something. It goes along with the message and brings a sense of familiarity. The instrumentals for this new show are down right depressing (and I'm not talking about the change in key). It just really, really, REALLY sucks that they made this former "street party in the sky" into a bedtime story with no excitement.

While we will be there next week and could very well go to MK during one of the party days my daughter doesn't want to attend the party so we're going to MK on a non party day. I just viewed it on YouTube and from what I saw I like it and I'd like to think that I would enjoy it in person as well.

I loved Hallowishes!! I was excited about a new show, but nervous that it would be projection heavy and light on the rest.

I think that is my biggest issue with HEA and now the new Halloween show. To me, it used to be a firework show with some cool projections to accompany the fireworks.

The new shows are projection shows that have some fireworks to accompany the projections.

I think the projections are amazing, very well done. I just prefer fireworks over projections.

I haven’t watched the videos, but from the discussion here, it made me think...with parties starting in August maybe they are purposefully going a little more “generic” (floats, princess medley, etc.)?

Exactly. The technology to put projections on a castle etc is impressive. But it’s still just moving pictures. I can watch moving pictures anywhere. Fireworks, on the other hand, are special and should be a show all by itself, maybe with just a few projections when time is needed to let smoke clear away.

Its all about money. Fireworks cost money because new ones have to be used each night. Using the same projections on the castle every night doesn't cost money. It's just another way Disney cuts back on the quality of their product but markets it in a way to make you believe its worth it by telling you its the "highest level of technology".

I think that sums things up really well. I loved Wishes and really enjoy HEA. I loved Hallowishes, and enjoyed the new show. However, if you are not on MainStreet, you miss SO much of both shows. Whereas, the previous shows were very good inside or outside the park.

I would agree if HEA didn't have even more fireworks than Wishes did.

I won't be able to see in person, unfortunately. But I was wondering if the people waaaaaay at the back could see the detail of what look to be some amazing projections. If they can't, I wonder if the show would be less impressive to them than the people who were able to stake out places up front.

We watched the new Halloween show at the Poly beach, so we couldn't see the projections, but they did pipe in the music. I was not impressed at ALL with the soundtrack.

And put me in the living Wishes camp and meh about HEA, though it is growing on me. Wishes we always watched from Main St. HEA I've watched twice from Main St and twice now from the Dumbo/New Fantasyland area and prefer from back there, even without the projections.

Sorry, really dont understand the feeling of HEA being projections with a little but of fireworks. Not only are there quite a bit more fireworks than Wishes had, the fireworks themselves are far superior. IMO, the show is just as enjoyable when watched without the projections, the music and fireworks themselves are absolutely fantastic.

DW and I watched the new show tonight. We were in front of the castle: you HAVE to be for this show (unless you wear eye masks when going to the theater), and we were IMPRESSED.

We have such a strong negative relationship with all the nighttime shows at WDW, we were so surprised to find one we actually love. So sad this show is only on event nights.

Would definitely consider booking a dessert party for it.

My only complaint with it is that much like HEA, if you aren't in the hub, you don't get anywhere near the full show. One would like to think that with something like that Halloween party, that wouldn't be a problem, but the unfortunate truth is that so many tickets are sold that getting in the hub area for this is just as difficult as it is for HEA. You have to stake out your spot way in advance, and stand there shoulder to shoulder in the heat.

Jack looked amazing, though I didn't have a great view as I opted to not enter that mass of hot sweaty humanity lol. For me, the show worked well. I liked the soundtrack. I really like the choice of having Jack Skellington narrated it, and was super impressed that he had a physical presence, and wasn't just a soundtrack. The fireworks are at least as good as Hallowishes, if not better. I would just like to see attendance capped at a bit lower level, so that everyone there has the opportunity to get a good view of the show. Of course, that would mean that Disney wouldn't make as much money, so that isn't very likely to happen, but a guy can always dream, right?

Maybe you've been on a MNSSHP night that was very crowded? We went on the hub tonight less than 15 minutes before showtime and it was more than enough to secure a very good spot in the center, with perfect views on Jack Skellington and all the projections.

I've seen Wishes, and Hallowishes many many times, and I have now seen Happily Ever After about 12 times, and the new Halloween fireworks once, and as far as I am concerned, both of the new shows have just as many fireworks as the old shows did. Indeed the projections are a much more integral part of the show, but I don't believe that they have taken anything away from the fireworks displays.

As a matter of fact, we just came back from two weeks in Disney. We saw Happily Ever After three times, and watched it from Frontierland / Liberty square all three times. It has enough fireworks to be enjoyable even from back there, were you clearly can't see any of the projections.
