I'm so behind even in skimming, but don't want to miss out on this as we need WDW tickets for next summer and I have MRs. So am I getting this correct - I book a throwaway flight/hotel package (add the tickets). Say the flight/hotel portion comes out to $700 and tickets come out to $1800, I pay 125k MRs (transferred to Delta). After I receive the tickets, I can cancel the flight/hotel package and get a travel voucher for $700 plus my WDW tickets for 125k. Where do you see the trip cancellation insurance? Is it an add-on to the package? Thanks so much for this info!
@kidsfirsttrip - it might make sense to lay this out in clear bullet points to help others. Screenshots would also probably help as well. I found the booking process clunky so since it didn’t benefit me I’ve sort of moved on from figuring it out. (I was going to try to post a mini-guide of sorts).

I never did figure out how to add 4 tickets without having to hit the back button numerous times and add them 1 at a time. That’s when I threw in the towel lol.
Sure I can put something together. I’m by no means an expert!

I did talk with Delta about my cancellation. Like many CSRs I’m not 100% sure she knew what she was talking about. Said my miles cannot be reimbursed back to miles that I would get a voucher for the miles portion and I should get reimbursed for the insurance but I’ll believe it when I see it. At this point I’m eating the insurance cost but that’s ok. Also she said when rebooking to place the new reservation on hold online and call to apply the voucher otherwise it can get screwed up. Voucher will be mailed but she said they should have it in the system by Friday so we shall see

I think we'll both apply for a CIP2 in December. We do the app the exact same way as the first one? We can't refer each other can we, for CIP2? He already referred me for CIP1. We can put 10k on them with holiday shopping, plus our property taxes alone for the quarter are $4300.

In prep I am going to lower our credit limits on other cards, plus PC his CIP to a CIC.

Thank you!!!!
.

Oh - now I realize that I wasn't even looking at the husband's list. I was looking at the upper list assuming we were talking about that player going for CIP2. P1 should go for CIP2 and in Nov and P2 should do it in Dec... At any rate, I'm sort of skimming some of these comments and it's difficult to pick everything up clearly due to some of the inconsistent formatting (mm/dd/yy vs mm/yy in the same comment??) Your recommendations were good given what we know.

I shouldn't speak unless I'm going to actually stop and read and attempt to dissect the info :lmao:

Ah, thanks. Yeah, dh is 5/24 with 1 card falling off in Dec and 2 falling off in Jan. I'll apply for CIP in Nov and dh in Dec. Notice that I kept your nice layout of my all of my cards? :)

LeCellier would be my top choice...if you can get a reservation....love the cheddar cheese soup and steak....
I agree! Enjoyed Le Cellier when we went there.
Le Cellier!! The cheddar cheese soup is a must. We are having it at our wedding lol
The only thing with le Cellier is the cost. Using the gcs would help with the cost though. I did have the cheese soup at f&w so I’m not sure if I would order it at the restaurant. It’s a tough decision

Yes, adding to the confusion. The tags usually coordinate with the MB colors selected. Unless all the tags that come are gray? The "magical extras" card for packages also gets shipped out, but again with MBs. I am very curious as to what it may be 😂
It was indeed the hard tickets for our MVMCP. Somewhat surprised that they are on standard cards and not Christmas related.

My assessment of Le Cellier and Yachtsman has always been that there are a ton of great steakhouses out there. If you want to spend $50 for a piece of steak I can do that at home; in other cities, etc. So for me, at Disney we typically look for unique meals we can’t experience anywhere else. Others may look at it differently but that’s just some perspective I can bring to it. I rate Garden Grill (breakfast AND dinner both) highly primarily due to the quality of food but that’s also accompanied by a neat setting in the Land AND characters :D

For those wondering about the Delta vacation tix mine just came!!!! A direct email from Disney and I was able to link them right away!
:jumping1:

I’d do the insurance and get the voucher. You will get the whole $433 back if that doesn’t include the insurance cost.

See above I ordered last night at around 7pm I got my ticket vouchers just now so under 24 hours. What if you roll the dice and cancel in 24 hours. You could conceivably get the whole rest refunded back minus the ticket price. Just make sure they are booked for the next 60 days that’s why I think I got them quickly!!!
Thanks for reporting back!!!

I just saw this offer on SW. Its a lot of points, and not something I would have thought about before but it sounds really nice!

On the road so only have my cell phone but the dates we wanted with Marriott just dropped (seriously an hour after we left the house) and we got what we wanted, sort of, just before the pricing change happens. But the room was 200k bonvoy points and we have 217k. It made the reservation but said “remember you still have to earn more points for this stay.” It took the 200k and now there’s a 17k balance there. Does anyone know why we got this message? Is this something I need to worry about? We we just Bonvoyed?

I second Garden Grill.

That’s a great way to look at it and I think we are gonna go with garden grill! Would you rather do breakfast or dinner?

OK booking a delta vacation package for WDW tix. Double miles value expires 9/6. There is speculation you could secure the tickets and be refunded the rest of the package if you cancel within 24 hours, but we are not sure on this. In the meantime I think its safer to go the insurance route. Plus in order to get the double miles benefit you need to use miles and I was told those cannot be placed back in your account.

Here goes:
  1. Log into Deltavacations.com go to the box on the bottom and click on "advanced search"
  2. To use the double miles benefit it must be a flight and hotel x2 nights
  3. I booked a WDW hotel, I'm not sure if that's necessary but I would to be safe. You also want to book it for soon to secure tickets ASAP. I did >30 days but less than 60 because i didn't want to get into any funky cancellation issues
  4. Depending on how many miles you want to use to the "throwaway" search for cheap flights. I looked at delta.com and did "flexible dates" to find my flights but I didn't look too hard
  5. In the search box do the flight (I did ATL-MCO), arrival must be MCO to add tickets. I did my reservation for 4 people because I couldn't figure out how to add more than one ticket. You can do 7,8,9 and 10 day tix if you want to do one flyer only
  6. Do the cheapest route you can find (unless you don't care about how many miles you are putting out) and 2 night at the value. Put in one person
  7. There is a "show all hotel filters" option - you can click on Disney. I chose 2 nights at ASM.
  8. Keep clicking the red "next" button box that appears on the side of the right side of the screen.
  9. Pick your flights. Don't care about the times do the one that costs $0, hit the RED NEXT button after each time
  10. The site can get a bit sluggish
  11. After you get the flights you will be at the "extra options" page
  12. Under activities choose the Disney tickets for the kind (base, hoppers or hopper plus), and days you want. You can only pick one at first (and only an adult ticket)
  13. Go up to the RED NEXT button again and click it
  14. You will then land on the "Traveler information page" - back out of this and add the remaining tickets you want - one by one back and forth (sooo slow)
  15. Once you are satisified you will add the travelers information. Click next and there you will see the insurance options. Choose the cheaper one and below you will see where you can use miles.
  16. Voila you have your package and tickets
  17. Once your tickets come go back online and cancel the package. You will see it says a large amount non refundable (for tickets) and a voucher for the amount the rest of the trip was worth (and the miles you paid also count double towards this portion)
