Hmmm. I was toying with getting P2 a Bonbon card (Vienna! Mattress runs to keep my plat status!), but was kinda thinking I might get him one of the chase variety. But 100k is a decent SUB, and wouldn't add to his /24 count, and I just got him an Ink in July. And my Amex Gold $2k MSR is really not lasting long, thanks to a couple of work expenses that have rolled through, so we could use another SUB. Oh the FOMO...

Remember the post-8/26/18 eligibility restrictions on the Bonvoy cards that make you choose Amex or Chase. Has DH gotten any Amex Bonvoy cards before? If so, he’s probably ineligible for the Chase Bonvoy cards. And vice versa.

Sorry to clog the thread with another Delta Vacations post, but I just got off the phone with Disney and wanted to update for anyone considering doing this for 2020 or 2021 tickets. I spoke with the ticketing person, and she said you can apply the value of unused, expired tickets to any ticket of an equal or higher value. So, you could purchase 3 day flex passes that expire in 2020, let them expire, then convert them to date based 6 or 7 day tickets in 2021. You can do this over the phone ahead of time.

Interestingly, she also said you could call to convert any unused current ticket to any higher value current ticket. So, you could also take a 3 day flex ticket that expires in 2020, call the ticketing department, and convert it to a 6 or 7 day date based ticket for dates in 2020 (before ticket expiration). That's not something I would need, but might be of use to others on the board who are looking to purchase single 2020 tickets. It means you could buy shorter flex tickets from Delta, then convert them to longer date-based tickets.
So this convinces me these tix are upgradable to APs. On my tix there is actually a button to upgrade them now (thru 2020 but the only option in the 10 Day is water park plus hoppers
I never got time yesterday to look at Delta packages so I'm figuring out the final tweaks now so I can get this booked later.

@kidsfirsttrip Do I have this right, if I want to use the travel voucher for Dec 12-16, I need to book for another 4 nights somewhere around there so that pricing would be similar? If I put in Dec 11-15, there are 15 Disney resorts but half that number show up for Dec 12-16. Pricing is slightly different too, of course.

My plan is book 1 person on a flight from ALT-MCO and a wdw room. Add the travel insurance. Cancel the booking. Then use the travel voucher to rebook the resort. Question is how long til we get the vouchers? If that has been answered already, I apologize. Last two days have been too busy to read here much :( I saw chatter about one week but wasn't sure if that was a guess or confirmed somewhere.
Yes I would do that, so it’s similar prices I wouldn’t do the same exact dates there was something in the terms against that but that should work. Get the travel insurance and then cancel (I booked today w/o travel insurance and my points were redeposited. The voucher will come in about one week I think. If you are worried the resort books up I’d book it with a deposit and pay the rest with the voucher. I think on a $2800 booking they wanted $380 down.
I have been pondering this for 24 hours and thought of more questions. Since it is DDs nap time, I'm back to ask and get the ball rolling here.
I don't have a concrete set of dates, but I plan to do the cancel in 24 hours trick to use the voucher for resort only anyways. I want to convert all 142k MRs to this voucher. That gives me about $2800 to spend. Does the voucher have to be applied all at once or could I use that over 2 trips? Maybe I need to book 2 different trips at $1400 each instead? But what if I then end up with a trip that is $3k and I want to apply both vouchers to it...is that allowed?
Make sure you get the insurance or they will just give you back your miles if you cancel in 24 hrs. The rep i spoke to said you can use partial vouchers etc so that should work but I don’t know 100% since I haven’t done that

Could you also refer to the Bonvoy Biz from a MR card for the support bonus and turn those MRs into Marriott points during the 30% transfer bonus?

He's not alone...when y'all even start talking about WN I get confused...still can't wrap my blonde head around no assigned seats, much less any of the rest, lol. Thank goodness ours doesn't have any useful direct flights and the prices are just as expensive as DL (or more) or DH would likely make me figure it out. Whew...
That's how I am with every other airline.

I've only flown non-SW one time, many many years ago. FIL purchased my flight to Great Lakes to see dh graduate boot camp. First flight, all alone because he and BIL were on a different flight.

HAHA I just got that e-mail and saw "Bonvoy" so I archived it. Should I actually look at it? I see "business" in the link.
@KPK02090 another one to look at!

Couple reports of it being available via referral as well so maybe we’ll see it roll out to more cards as a referral option over the next day or two!
The offer is the same as recent highs on the card according to DoC fwiw. If Marriott points of interest I’d consider it.
It’s not a bad way to start earning some Marriott points. 100k Marriott points for $5k MSR is the highest offer on the Bonvoy/SPG Biz since the merger (although the 75k Marriott points for $3k MSR offer comes with lower spend). The Biz also has the benefit of earning 4x Marriott on gas, dining, and wireless telephone services (but you may not want to switch your cell phone bill from the CIP and lose the insurance protection). The rest of the benefits are snoozers; you already get Marriott Gold Elite status, for whatever it’s worth, through your Platinum, which is > than the Silver status offered by this card. But, remember the survey I took, Amex may be considering changes to the benefits on this card that might make it worthwhile to spend on. Unfortunately, the AF is now $125 and not waived, and you’ll need to renew a second year if you want that 35k FN cert, again for whatever it’s worth after peak pricing kicks in this month.

Since this is a public offer, it should be available via support link — if not already, then soon. But since this is also a new, elevated campaign, the Amex pop up may be all over this card like it was for the Hilton Biz and Surpass recently, particularly if applying via support link. You may want to keep that email handy in case you have more luck with applying through that channel.
From what I can see - this is ALREADY available via support link. If you have a link on DISchurners - might want to consider updating it if yours does not reflect this offer.

A small detail here to not overlook... 0% introductory APR on purchases for 6 months. Since this is a biz card it won't affect your utilization either so if the $5k MSR seems steep, you could prepay some things or find ways to meet the MSR ahead and then just float the balance for 6 months.

Obligatory reminders:
  • Do not buy stuff you don't need to hit a MSR
  • Do not spend money you don't have to hit a MSR
  • Do not pay interest to earn points
:D Happy churning all! Good luck - this seems like a decent offer for an Amex Biz card. Also keep in mind how to keep the RAT happy and don't just get this card hit the MSR and "sock-drawer" it!

EDIT: reminder also to not self-support with Amex, Much Like Liam Neeson in Taken...If you self-support: the RAT will look for you, They will find you... and They will kill you!

I’ve had my little puppy (yes, I still call her a puppy) since I was in HS. She is now just over the age of 10 and it breaks my heart when I have to leave her. If I am traveling with friends, my family will watch her, but if I travel with family, there isn’t anyone I trust enough so I leave her with my vet. I feel she is safest there because they know all of her issues (picky eater, special RX diet, and skin allergies she takes monthly shots for). Thankfully they have never had to call me while away so fingers crossed it will be ok again in October. I agree with @tink1970... My puppy is SO spoiled. I know I treat her well. If something were to happen I would be extremely upset, but I know I did everything I could for her 😌

My mom left 2 dogs at the vet a few years ago for boarding and came back to only 1! They didn't tell her until she picked up. Maybe that was for the best, because there is nothing you can do while you are on vacation but be extremely sad. They said it happened overnight, that she just was gone (not missing gone) when they came in that morning. I feel there is more to the story than that, but my mom didn't pursue further. The dog was older, but had no issues prior. Both of those dogs are now gone, but she has another that she gets nervous leaving now and he is young still. I have a friend whose little dog was attacked by a big dog while at a boarding facility and didn't make it. It was heartbreaking. Now that I depressed everyone......... Back to CC news.

When I have to fly other airlines all the people milling about in front of the gate agent ready to POUNCE when their group is called, make me nervous. Then if I'm in an earlier group than them they all judge me with their eyes.

First up to board we have Super Mega Elite Platinum. Next up we have Mega Elite Platinum and all Uniformed Military Personnel. Next we up we have Elite Platinum and people who have shaken the hand of the Prime Minister of Sweden. I always enjoy laughing at all the "elite" groups too obviously, haha!

Mine were teens at the time. It is DEEP water when you go in by the dolphins. You’ll have to see what the conditions are like. When mine were little, we actually had them snorkel with life vests so they were more comfortable.
Thanks for your feedback. We would ABSOLUTELY use vests for them. I'm going to call the company directly and ask if they would recommend for our kids ages and see if they have vests available, etc. Even with vests my little one may be too nervous about the deep water, so it may not work for us.

Very excited since I have another Delta Vacation on hold for Italy next summer! Right now, we are booked for 11 days in June flying into Rome and out of Milan. We have 3 nights at the cheapest hotel in Rome, but may change once I figure out hotels or just use it as a throwaway. With insurance it ended up being over $5K so I used 199K Delta skymiles, 66K MR and $183. He said we can use the Delta GCs, so I will probably pay more with all those $50 cards I have.

I did book the 4 of us on 3 separate reservations so that was somewhat time consuming. DH and DD on one ticket assuming they will get upgraded to EC with his Platinum status. Anyone have experience with being upgraded to EC on international flights? A reservation for me in EC and then our other DD needs to come home earlier.

This is such a good deal for us. Nonstop flights were 120K Skymiles (plus fees) or $1,600 each. It is also great that we will earn Skymiles on these tickets. I am seriously considering booking another trip!!

Paid for our summer trip to Italy and used Skymiles, MR, and Delta GCs! I put 5 GCs on one reservation and several more on the others. Just as a DP for my question above about upgrades, I was able to upgrade DH and our youngest DD to Comfort Plus. Their flights originally showed "not complementary upgrade eligible" but after it was ticketed I was able to upgrade them. Hopefully this helps a fellow Delta loyalist with status. Now to decide if I am going to try for trip 3 tonight!

It gets a little scary with cash but you could change those flights to the least expensive flight you can find and then change them back. The scary part is changing your flight to a flight you don't want at all and hoping nothing goes wrong when you change back, haha. I would NOT want to do this kind of change over the phone though because it would be abundantly clear what you were doing. (It was no issue that you called in to do your simple change though - I'm sure they were happy to help!) Oh, and if you're already on the cheapest flight for around your dates then you've maximized the savings already anyways.

@Lain - how about DON'T CALL THE AIRLINE ABOUT LOOPHOLES?? HAHA! Can I use that one?

gosh, I wish I could do this. I already changed from the 4k points flights Monday to the 12k point flights Sunday pm. There are 2500 point flights though, so if I could do the trick I could save more. But it is just DH and DS9 and they are linked since he is an unaccompanied minor. So in order to make changes I have to call. This is one time I wish I hadn't done separate reservations.

Are you sure they're linked? Once you book a flight I've found they'll let you change them however you want. That link seems to be a one-time check when you book the flight.

Also, if you have a ton of extra points, you could just book new ones using your points and then cancel the old and get those points back...

If you need more 1:1 discussion than this (perhaps I'm missing something) feel free to send me a PM.
