I swear I read somewhere that food courts were supposed to open in conjuntion with EEMH.

Last week of August staying at CR, Contempo Cafe was not opening any earlier than normal, but Contemporary Grounds was switching to 24 hours as of 8/30. You would think with all these EEMH they’d have all the food courts open early, even if it was a limited menu.

That works on our DHS day. But we planned on an early breakfast on our AK and MK days as well. The app says End Zone doesn't open until 7.
I’m not positive about sports, but music had to grab and go and fountain drinks open very early. The rest of the food court did not open until 7.

So registers were open to purchase grab and go, they just weren't cooking yet?

I saw on a resort-specific thread that only the Bakery Shop at PO-FQ was opening early. They said the Grill Shop, Waffle Shop, Omelet Shop and Po' Boy Shop do not open until 6:00 AM.

Here is something that might be useful. I didn't realize that SWGE has an entrance at the back of Toy Story Land. It does. So once the park has been open for a while, don't be a ding dong and walk all the way around past Muppets unless you have to.
Lucky! They wouldn’t let us enter GE that way. CMs we’re standing guard and told us it was an exit only and made us walk around the long way.

Just wrapping up a 4 day trip. Some notes...
Y'all already know to hit Toy Story Land first. And The dip in wait times on Sunday was right at 7:25am, it went down to 25 minutes and then started to build back up.

So once the park has been open for a while, don't be a ding dong and walk all the way around past Muppets unless you have to. Another tip is to not count on buses if you want to be there early. From POFQ on Sunday I was there at 530am and a bus didn't come til a little after 6. There was already someone waiting when I got there. Around 555am he said, "Extra Extra Magic Hours! If only you are willing to walk."
Additionally not all resorts have food courts open early. POFQ's opened at 6am. But another thing I found out is if you hit a Joffreys right at park closing they sell their pastries 2 for 1. Yay. Donuts! Save them for the next morning and you are good to go.
Last thing is that Uber and Lyft are really the way to go. Just about everywhere was about $8 plus tip from POFQ. So if it matters and you don't want to wait, download that app and use it. It is cheaper and more convenient than renting a car, and it is way faster than the bus. And it is super easy to use the app.

When it's busy it's going to be used as an exit only just fyi.

Maybe only when VQ is in affect? Don't know, but it's not a guarantee it'll be open as an entrance all the time

It seems to be closed whenever they think there is a chance it could become busy.

Thank you to everyone who's been posting their experiences here. I find it's making me both super-excited and super-anxious for our Halloween trip. Excited, because it seems like it's possible to have an amazing park experience for the low, low price of dragging oneself out of bed early in the morning, but anxious that crowds will be bigger in October and we won't see these kinds of walk ons.

In any event, I'm glad for everyone who's had a great experience so far.

Just because I’m up. 6:45 it was 60 minutes for MFSR and then it dropped to 45 minutes just before 7 and now it is showing 40 minutes. SDD started at about 20 minutes and is now up to 30

How have the wait times been today for MFSR? I have been checking the app and it seems people are waiting less than the posted wait times during EEMH

If you use Twitter, Blog Mickey, easywdw, and Kenny the Pirate all are in DHS for EEMH today. They should have write-ups soon.

All guests were held on Hollywood Blvd. until filming ended sometime after 6:30a.

Touring Plans posts peoples actual waits (from people timing themselves using the Touring Plans Lines app) on their site for paying members and I can tell you that they have been running about 1/2 the posted time during EEMH, which also squares with reports here and by bloggers.

Len Testa of Touring Plans also posted yesterday on WDWMagic that he sent someone yesterday to count people leaving the ride, and Disney was getting about 300 more people/hour through the ride in the afternoon than in the morning, that kind of inconsistency messes with CMs ability to post reliable waits.

Any thoughts on why there would be that kind of inconsistency?

Either way, I would rather be pleasantly surprised by a shorter wait time than a longer one.

That would be from not loading all the available pods.

Similar to how empty boats go out on PotC and iasw in the mornings.
Why do they not load to capacity in the mornings? Do they simply have an "average" wait time they want for certain attractions .. especially in the morning .. so you get "stuck" at the park longer? (Rather than being able to get everything done in a few hours).

My question is .. if you show up at DHS "sometime" during the EEMH (like say 7-8 am) .. are wait times still reasonable (to like be able to do SDD with a reasonable wait) .. or does it get too crowded (and rides not running to capacity) that it's not worth it unless you get there at the crack of 6 am?
