Anyone charge anything to a BMO MasterCard in USD recently and willing to share what the exchange rate was?

Heading to WDW a next weekend and just registered some Disney gift cards and the rate was 1.3222 and can’t decide if I should go buy some more and pay off the reservation or just put it on my credit card when we get there

You will always get a better rate using a Disney gift card vs. a BMO C$ MasterCard, which tacks on an extra 2.5% fee over and above MasterCard rate (which itself is ~0.4% higher than the spot rate). The current spot rate is 1.322, so with a BMO MC, it'll give you ~1.36.

Perfectly said. If you don't think you'll be canceling your trip (a concern BC money would be refunded to the GCs), then yes, the GCs give you a more favourable rate.
Enjoy!

If you ever do want the current MasterCard rate you can check here: https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/consumers/get-support/convert-currency.html

As for gift cards, I love the fact that I can buy them at the Grocery store and get 4% cash back on my Meridian Infinite Visa.

Speaking of gift cards, was there ever a final determination on when the rate is locked in? Is it done when you add the gift card online @giftcards.disney.com or when you actually use it on Disney property?

The rate for the Disney Giftcards is when you use it, and it will change it you use it on different days. There is no longer a way to lock it in, so you are still at the mercy of the exchange rate fluctuations. But it still beats the extra they charge when you use a credit card. And I try and get mine where I can get some kind of points. I like Petro Points right now, I can use them to pay for the cards too and it's convenient to me.

Thank you for the reply. Just for completeness - can you pay for park tickets, memory maker, other ticketed events, etc. online with Canadian Disney Gift Cards?

Yup. I booked my package, paid the deposit, made payments on the trip, bought memory maker. I was going to buy the MNSSHP tickets as well but got them through Airmiles instead. Also usable in park of course.

I think the only thing you can't use them for is upgraded magic bands, those require a credit card.

Hello - sorry to resurrect this again, but is there a way to pay for mobile orders with a gift card? Last time I was there, you could only pay for mobile orders with a credit card.

Only with credit card or dining plan, you cannot use gift cards for mobile orders (was there Aug 24 - 31)
