How far/out of the way have you gone for something free/discounted?

California Pizza Kitchen is giving away free pizzas today through the Grubhub app but it's 20 minutes in the opposite direction from where I need to travel to go home. I'm conflicted with my desire to just go home versus a free pizza. So begs the question, what have you done because something was too good to pass up and what was it?

I don't remember how long I waited, but it was over an hour at least when they were giving out free Mac lipsticks at Macys. Turns out when you got to the front you had the choice of blue, green or grey. Lipstick. It was not worth it.

Oh ... too good to be true. Gee, I wonder why they were giving those colors away, maybe because they were butt ugly! Gray lipstick? I'd look like a dead person. YUCK!

That stinks you waited that long. :(

We stopped in at DQ for the first day of spring free ice cream cone. Have to pass DQ everyday on main road to get home, so we didn't go out of the way for a freebie. And there was no line either, lucky us.

I used to get JCPenney coupons save $10 on anything $10 or more. I would finagle my errands to hit the mall during the coupon time so I could use it. And yes, I would find something no more than $10 to get a freebie. (It was easy when my daughter was young to get pajamas). I miss getting those coupons. Haven't had them in quite some time.

It'd have to be something pretty expensive to make me change my usual routine. Probably not far at all.

20 minutes in the opposite direction means 40 minutes round trip. plus wait time to save what- $15?
Nope, wouldn't consider doing it at all.

Oh man!!! That is such a rip off!! I’d be so mad too
What shade of green?

Anyway, years ago, when Eastern Airlines started up (again, for I think the final time), they offered $6 rates between New York and Boston and between New York and Washington DC. So, distance-wise, the furthest I've gone out of my way for a deal is 13 miles.

I was in line over seven hours before I got on a flight.

I don't remember the name, but it was a darker green. They were all absolutely awful.

That depends on the scale of what we're talking about. If it's something free that is normally worth just a few bucks, then no I won't go far out of my way or wait in any long line. But if it's a big ticket item, then absolutely. For me, it's been cars, of course. I've had them shipped in from all over the country. Last weekend, I drove from Atlanta to near Shreveport LA and back (525+ miles each way) to pick up a car that was a bargain.
