This year is lookin good..Get it? Because it's 2020?- Another international Disney PTR

Tell your body to calm down and caffeine is on the way. (Caffeine is on the way, right?)
I've got two cups of tea in. Unfortunately with my braces I can't just keep a steady flow going. That's probably all I'll have for the day so it doesn't cancel out the melatonin I will inhale before bedtime.

Trust me on this one.
I trust your wisdom, oh wise one.

You have trouble peeing with your braces on? I think you're wearing them wrong.

Good girl. I know of which I speak. Speaking of which... wait... what?

Hello beautiful Dis people! I come bearing trip updates. Nothing super major, just a slight rearrangement of our May WDW schedule and dining reservations. It's also almost time for our DCL booking window to open so I got prepped for that. Since we're only silver members of the Castaway Club we're the second to last group to get to make reservations, so I want to make sure I'm ready to go right at midnight to get what we want.

For the May WDW trip, I changed a few things around. Jon helped me realize that we didn't quite have enough DHS time planned so I added more of that. But the biggest change is we decided not to go to Universal on this trip (sorry butterbeer :guilty:) and instead visit a water park!

Right now I have us going to a water park the morning of VAH. Can anyone comment on if that's a bad idea or not? We've never done a Disney water park so we're not sure what to expect as far as exhaustion. But the plan would be to get to the park right at open and stay for 4-5 hours. Then we'd go back to our resort to rest and relax and head to MK that evening for VAH. This is the first time we're traveling to WDW together when it's nice and warm out so we're excited to take advantage of the weather to try something new!

And since we're skipping Universal this trip then I think I'm going to add it into my birthday trip. I just can't go that long without sweet, sweet butterbeer.

So while I was in Disneyland our ADR window opened for the trip and I was able to land everything we wanted! Here are the ADRs we currently have:

'Ohana dinner on our first day
Homecomin' brunch our second morning
Whispering Canyon Cafe lunch
Hoop Dee Doo on our last night at CCV
Yachtsman Steakhouse dinner on our relaxing day
Cape May Cafe on our last morning before we head to the airport

I'm excited about these. I've been wanting Jon to try 'Ohana for forever. I know he's going to love it. I'm also jazzed for Homecomin' brunch because of how much I love the food. Also I will take any excuse to brunch. We'll also get a second chance at WCC & HDD since we had to cancel both of those on our last trip due to my untimely stomach bug. Yachtsman is brand new for us and will be our nicest meal of the trip and of course you can't go wrong with a good character breakfast like Cape May Cafe!

Next step: Get FP selections nailed down. Our FP date is March 3 so we have plenty of time for that. The only thing that might be an issue is that I don't plan on making FP selections for Epcot because I'm trying to get into the Moonlight Magic event, where we'll have plenty of time to ride our favorites. However, on the chance that we don't get into the event then we would have missed our 60 day window and be stuck with whatever's left as far as FPs (although we should know before the 30 day window so at least we'll have that edge). But I really don't think it will be that big of a deal. After talking with a few people I have a good feeling that we'll get into MM.

Coming up much sooner than that is our DCL trip. Like I said, pre-booking opens for us this weekend. That's when we can start booking things like excursions, Palo, and spa treatments.

I don't think we're going to do any Disney excursions, at least not for Grand Cayman (although I haven't really looked at them much). The cruise ship price is always super steep and there are some awesome 3rd party sites with excursions that are just as good and much cheaper. On Castaway Cay I imagine if we do anything it will be the snorkel/float/bike rental combo for the day.

As for Palo, I'm shooting for a brunch reservation. I won't be devastated if we don't get one but it does sound so yummy and I'm not sure when we'll be on a Disney cruise again (Jon is not a fan of the price point)! I'll also be getting us a spot to meet characters on the Marvel Day at Sea and I want to schedule us for a massage. So hopefully I'll be able to get at least most of those things!

I've never been to the water parks so can't comment on level of exhaustion. But in theory it sounds like a good idea before your after hours! Your ADR plans for May sound great (and yummy)!

Good luck booking everythign for your cruise!

They really should ship that stuff, ya know.

Can't help you. It's been decades since I last went. I think it was before Blizzard Beach existed.

Nice line up. :)
Some day I hope to get to 'Ohana… but I don't see it happening anytime soon. Feels too weird to go by myself.

Right? In theory hahaha. But I figure with a nice long break at the resort we should be okay!

So true! A local soda shop carries a bottled butterscotch soda by Flying Cauldron that is the closest taste-wise, but it doesn't come with the foam! I've also tried several recipes for the warm version (the best version) and so far none of them have satisfied.

I don't think it would be weird, it's just a LOT of food. But it's the perfect place for a Dismeet!

I've never had the warm one. Surprised that's the best considering how much better the frozen is to the non-frozen.

Yes it would be...
And if I ever have one where people or person wants to go... then I'll be there. :)

It's my personal fave. Jon still prefers frozen over all. But the warm just tastes...cozy? I guess? It's amazing. They only sell it Nov-Feb, I think.

It is now a personal mission of mine to set you up with a Dismeet meal at 'Ohana.

I've never been to the water parks before, but I feel like all the TRs I have read covering them have people finished by mid-afternoon at the latest. I think you'd be safe going and then resting up before the VAH event. It's a shame butterbeer won't be happening that trip, though...

Palo brunch is definitely worth trying to get! So much amazing food.

All your ADRs sound great. Everyone has to try O'hana's at least once.

Not only will we miss out on butterbeer but we also won't get to ride Hagrid's! All the more reason to add it to my birthday trip...

Alright there's a big big update! I mentioned in the intro that we were waiting to hear on official dates for the Italy ABD before we decided to go on that one vs China and yesterday they unofficially that the Italy trip would be early 2021, which means we're going to China!

Nothing is booked yet but I've already put out quotes and am doing some budgeting to finalize everything but it's like 90% a thing.

Although until the moment I book I'll probably flip flop around with ideas.

The problem is that the Aug 30 date is the best one that works for us but the weather at that time of year could be miserable. It will certainly be hot and humid (worse than Florida in summer, I've read) and it's the height of typhoon season so we may run into severe storms. That time frame is the only open one in our schedule so I'll probably do some unnecessary looking to see what other options we are. But I really, really want to visit the parks in China sooner rather than later. I feel like if we wait much longer it will keep getting pushed back.

Wow I might have just beak my record for time between updates here...

But as I finished typing up that last one I noticed one last date range that may just work for us. There's one at the end of October. It still meets our criteria for nicer weather, but it's during a time when Jon typically has a hard time taking off work. But if we can push for it, it would for sure be the best dates for us.

PLUS it would put us in Shanghai Disneyland on my birthday. And that's all I want in life. As of 3 minutes ago.
