Is it really hard to leave midday and come back?

We will be staying at Coronado springs. On our Epcot day we have a big chunk of time before our 6pm dinner reservation. Is it a good idea to leave around 12, go back to the hotel for the pool, and then come back for dinner at 6pm? I have read a few posts that leaving and coming back can take up so much time with the buses and security. If the buses are hard, I figure we can just Uber back?

We often do that, especially if it's hot. A few hours spent on an air conditioned bus and in an air conditioned room plus pool time makes for much less cranky people with much more appetite and happier feet. We'd far rather do that than stick it out in a park and be miserable. We actually enjoy spending time at our resort; we select the resort with that in mind. Our view is that this is a vacation, not a marathon of how much you can see and do in the parks. If it helps you to enjoy your time better, than you've succeeded in your vacation goals.

I wouldn't think Epcot to Coronado would be bad bus-wise; it may be worth asking on the Coronado Springs Master Thread on the Resorts board instead of here - people will be more familiar with that specific route.

A Lyft will be like $6, its so close. Your could also take an Uber or Lyft to Boardwalk and walk to Epcot if your reservation is in World Showcase and have both a shorter drive and a shorter walk.

Didn’t think about the big Coronado thread. I will ask about the travel distance! Thanks!

We have done every trip! Mid-afternoon break is how we survive.
Perfect! Thanks :)

We do this too. In cooler weather we may not go back to our own resort but just relax in the lobby/lounge/outdoor area of a nearby resort.
We are going at the end of this month. Even if it’s cold we want to just relax back at the resort. No point in paying resort prices if you can’t use it lol

I stayed at CSR last December. The only frustrating issue I had was that I would see 3-4 AK buses within 3-5 minutes of each other, though this was in the morning.

The trip from the resort to EPCOT didn't feel all that long. Maybe 15 minutes at the most? Follow the recommendation to leave at least 1.5hrs before your reservation. That should be plenty of time to get from the resort to the park and through security before dinner.

It really just depends. When we stay close to the park; we'll usually take a break, but don't find it worth it if we're not close by. For example, this past summer we stayed at YC, and took a nice midday break on our Epcot and DHS days, and when we've stayed at CR we've taken breaks from MK and sometimes Epcot, but when we've stayed at moderates/values needing to rely on the buses we've found it's too much effort to go back so we don't anymore.

I think you'd be fine, just give yourself an hour and a half to get back to the park. If you feel like you're cutting it close getting back get an Uber instead of relying on the bus.

This is what we always do. We usually hit the parks early, eat lunch at the park, and then head back to the pool for a few hours before dinner. We enjoy it and don't think it's difficult.

We also do it at least once every trip. No necessarily from Epcot, just depends on the park we are at that day. It's just a nice break for the day.

No. It's not hard. Coronado is very near to EPCOT, so not a long travel time. It will depend on how long you need to wait for the bus to arrive and how long the security line is when you return as to how long it takes. The bus ride, itself, is less than 15 minutes.

Depends on when we go. Usually in September it's not very crowded so we stay the entire time at the parks. Even when my kids were little, we toughed it out and stayed the entire day. We usually had a resort day every other day so we were still using the resort. Last year we went at the beginning of December and since we stayed off-site, again, stayed at the parks all day. It was a lot more crowded than we were used to so if we were staying onsite, I would have taken a mid-day break.

That is our everyday in a park plan and has been for years--one in the AM, one in the PM. I've never regretted even a short trip to recharge in the room/pool.

One option is to take the bus back to your hotel, since the bus lines will be short to nonexistent at that time of day, then Uber/Lyft/Minnie Van back to the park for dinner. And if your dinner is in WS, Uber/Lyft/Minnie Van to the Beach Club instead of Epcot itself.

We take a break in the early afternoon. My Fiancee likes to relax in the room for a while and my Son and I like to hit the pool for and hour or so. Bag check is easy in the afternoons, it's in the morning at park opening that it takes a while.

This is basically our touring style. And one of the reason we do hoppers. We rope drop one park, go back to the resort for a break, and then close out another park. Its a bit tougher when the hours are shorter (we've done September a few times) but worth it. Previously we'd always had a car but our last trip we decided to try not having one and it was so awesome - sometimes we took an Uber but the busses weren't bad at all.

I personally see no point to is as I can relax in air conditioner when I come home. I’m on vacation and wanna experience everything I can. Maybe one day I’ll have a different point of view on it.
