Unless you have Firsthand experience then you don't know if Casey will not allow use of a kid's meal. I think the person overheard the denial and did not personally experience it. I know that if that happened to me in person, then I would get a manager and they would a.) honor the dining plan and use my child credit for a meal, b.) give me the meal at no charge, or c.) I would charge the amount back to my room and have concierge services remove the charge and take the appropiate child credits. I mean ultimately i think that they would honor the plan.
FWIW, I have had the dining plan and deluxe dining plan on almost all my trips since 2012. I have only brought small children once and I did use their credits to get them adult meals to split (mostly at breakfast). So, the changes don't bother me. I can see how some families with 2 or more under 9yo would want to utilize their QS or Deluxe dining plan to maximize savings.

Back to Casey's, my husband has wanted to eat there for the last 7 trips, but the lines were always so long and nowhere to sit.

Oh, and I don't think but not sure that the Yorkshire in Epcot has a kid's meal so the kids could get a meal there.

Again, i think that any location that has a pre order option then you could use your kids credits. I order kid's meals all the time using the app when it is just my husband and I. These are the trips when we don't have the dining plan. They do not care if you order a kid's meal at any counter service location.

I understand that Disney allowed it but the reason using two deluxe kids credit for your son is "painful" is because you knew you could use them for adult meals instead which cost a lot more money. Now people have no choice but to use them on kids only so kind of use them or lose them. This just drives it home of how unfair the system was to people/families without under 10's. They had no choice but to pay full price for the ddp if they wanted it without any advantage or loophole to make it "worthwhile" for them. I am so glad Disney finally evened the playing field.

This is something that Disney had allowed, now they don't. I took advantage of the loophole while it existed and Disney clearly knew it was possible. I am not sure how my benefiting from something is unfair to families without kids. And I don't see it as evening the playing field, the plan just no longer works for me so I won't get it.

They cant get adult meals w kid credits and are upset... Disneys reply: You cant get adult meals with kid credits.

I think that a large part of the issue is that with QS and the DxDP, there was nothing designating a “kid credit” or an ”adult credit” up until now, as they were pooled. It’s the sudden designation and subsequent splitting of these previously functionally equal credits that has people upset. I would be upset too if I had planned for a certain path for my vacation, based on credits previously being equivalent with regards to those two categories, and had found out that it had suddenly changed. It wasn’t a loophole, it was something that was tacitly allowed by Disney up until January 1st. Servers would actively encourage children to order from the adult menu on the deluxe plan because the credits were pooled. I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect people not to feel like the rug has been pulled out from under them when this is something that Disney’s own staff have promoted as a feature of the plan for years.

Being here now and on the QS dining plan, I can say the CMs are really unclear on how this new change is supposed to work. The computers do whatever they do, but we were not getting consistent answers about how this worked until I got back online and figured it out myself, in order to make each transaction work properly. This was certainly an under-advertised change to WDW service.

It isn't a change but an enforcement of the rule already in place. And I don't feel sorry for those who were bending the rules to suite themselves, and now are forced into following those rules. Disney asked nicely, and people wouldn't play nice. So now they are being forced into doing what is right.
I can see this... but it doesnt help when the people who work for Disney push breaking the rules....

I dunno how many times my family has been at a restaurant and the servers ask me why I'm not ordering an adults meal for my kids. My kids prefer the bland chicken nuggets and mac and cheese so on vacation it's what they get. But again it doesnt help when the servers say, "why dont you get an adults meal for your 7 year old because her dining plan will cover it"

So really if Disney didnt like this loophole then their wait staff shouldn't be encouraging it. JS

Um no, it’s explicitly a change, and so the WDW restaurant systems and receipts are literally working differently as of 1/1/20.

Pretty sure wait staff encouraged kids ordering off adult menu because they knew this would mean a larger tip for them.

So for us, this change was a huge surprise. It’s not a huge deal, but not something I had heard about at all (although admittedly adding the QS plan was a last minute decision for the first time).

We started our plan on 1/1, which we learned on 1/2 was the first day of the new program, and then learned that we have X # of Child QS credits and X # of Adult credits, which are now listed on our receipts.

We tend to map our all our credits in the DDP, so I was a bit taken aback when the CM at PizzaRizzo gave me the news, but we’ve adjusted our plans for this trip... and probably just won’t do it again until we’re all “Disney adults”.

@Kaleidodad , are kids QS credits ever able to get anything to drink other than the listed water, milk, or juice?
Well we talked ourselves into an extra caesar salad at Pizzarizzo, but that was more a function of being so demonstrably unprepared for the new system. But we have also gotten pop/fountain drink with the kids QS credits.

I can confirm that today at the Mara an adult credit could still be converted to 3 snacks but a child’s credit can be used for nothing but a kids meal.
It is being very strictly enforced.
Oh wow! I would be visiting guest services on this one. 1 snack credit (as rumored) was bad enough. But to now say you can’t even do it at all with child’s credit. That seems way overboard to me.

Hope this is not a permanent stance we’ll get from all locations.

Well, there's nothing guest services needs to do. Using a dining credit to get 3 snacks is not written ANYWHERE in the Disney dining details. It is something they've always done at the resorts, the snack booths at festivals, and a few other places, but there's no requirement for them to do it at all.

I'm just confused and need a little clarification if possible. I have a 7 year old that will have a child credit. If I order a Sundae or Ice Cream for him, will the cast member take it off of the child snack credit? How do we even use the child snack credits? Also, what about places like Sleepy Hollow and a basic Dole whip? Thanks in Advance. :)

The snack credits are not assigned to adults or children only the quick service and table service credits.
