Canadian Buffoon's Exhausted Vacation - Update 09/01 - New TR link!

Suiren Dani (Japanese Water Cake,
Rose, Kuromitsu, Kinako Crumb).

It looked quite odd, but I can assure
you that it was quite nice and refreshing.
A very nice counterpoint to the protein
heavy meal we'd just enjoyed.

You totally forgot to mention that THERE ARE GOLD FLAKES ON THE DESSERT!!!!

Wow what a delicious looking and sounding dinner from your description!
I have heard a few other people say how wonderful the tasting menu was!
Thanks for the review, I would love to go there one of my trips, it just doesn’t work with a picky 20 year old, bummer!
Liesa is a great dinner partner.

It's always the food, remember that.
Quite right.
I believe the conversation

went something like this...

"Liesa! Would you like to get
together for a meet?"
Liesa: "Ew... why would I do that?
I've already met you... more than once!
Please stop contacting me."
Me: "Well, okay. Just thought we could
meet at Takumi-Tei, but..."

Liesa: "I'm in!"
Wow, that's so beautiful. I feel at peace just looking at it.
Isn't it gorgeous????
I love how simple and refined everything is. I bet it's super easy to forget you're in a theme park.
::yes::
Awww how sweet.
She certainly is. :)
I've been very fortunate
to meet some wonderful

people through the DIS. :)
Whoooaaa that's so cool!!
It is!
Also cool, but literally
 Exactly.
YUM that looks incredible! I've heard such good things about this place but I'm pretty sure dear DH would keel over if he saw the price tag.
It is a tick on the pricey side.
Chances are it was one of those things
I give it a 33% chance per.
Do you know how long I've been waiting to use this gif in a way that actually made sense?

Do you know how tempting it was
to say "I don't get it."???

Wow, high praise indeed!
::yes::

Upon reflection...
Victoria & Albert is neck and neck
with it...
Both however are not quite as good
as that time I went to the home of

one of the world's top chefs for dinner.

Quite amazing how decor can change your whole mood so quickly, isn't it?
Very much so.
It was... Go! GO! GOOO!!!!...

Ahhhhh…. relax.
Indeed I have.

image
Okay, that one's pretty cool. ::yes::
The second... not so much.
I've done that one myself.
and of course...
 But of course!
pretty cool -- reminds me of those ice cooled juice jugs
Yeah! Pretty much.
here's a beer pitcher...
I don't do beer, so I'll
leave that one for you. ;)

I've got my daddy/daughter trip with DD2 coming up in just two weeks, and we're currently set for Teppan Edo and this review is making me want to rethink my choice.
Nice! How long you there for?
Hmm... 2 weeks... going on Jan 22?

Of course -- I'm not sure it would be as good of an experience with a 5 year old...so I'm 99% sure I'll stick to the plan.
Yeah... pretty sure that would
be a very expensive, possibly
wasted meal for a 5 year old.
Teppan Edo? She'll probably
love it.

Just don't let her touch the

hot table.

I HAVE to show this chapter to my husband!! He has had Japanese Wagyu at a restaurant in San Francisco while on business and he was so stunned at the spectacular-ness of it he could barely describe it to me.
Now it's your turn!
Well... it can be both of
your turns. :)
Your pictures and your description have left me DYING to go there!!!
Then be sure to!
I highly recommend it!

Thank you again!!
You're very, very welcome! :goodvibes

Wow what a delicious looking and sounding dinner from your description!
Caroline, it was sooooo good!!
I have heard a few other people say how wonderful the tasting menu was!
And they were right!
Thanks for the review, I would love to go there one of my trips, it just doesn’t work with a picky 20 year old, bummer!
Hmmm...
Stick the picky 20 year old
somewhere else and go eat

divine food.
Liesa is a great dinner partner.
She absolutely is!
I can't speak for her,
but I had a wonderful time! :)

Okay! Looks like I'm all caught up.

So.... I tweaked my back today at work.
Just... moved wrong, I guess.
Not even really sure what I did.

And of course we're having a winter
storm here tonight. (Luckily not a
blizzard, however.)
So... while my back's a achin',
pkondz is a shovelin'.
(yeah that doesn't really rhyme.
Sue me. I'm hurting.)

I've tackled the driveway twice
already this evening, hoping that
if I keep on top of it as much
as possible, I won't have to move
it all at once. So far it's working,
but I won't lie when I say I'm
nervous each and every time
I pick up that shovel.

Whelp... having said that,
I'm going to go out and give
it one more go before calling
it a night.

I'll get up early tomorrow and
shovel it again before DW leaves
for work. Hoping to feel better by then.

Wish me luck.

 No, it wasn't.
I did get the idea from there when I did it. :)

Oo man lol I thought for sure it was you.

As you can see from the title,
I managed to snag an ADR
for, and dine at, Japan Epcot's
newest signature restaurant.

Oo how fancy.

I love doing that. It makes it that
much harder when I go to the parks
with bags...

True. I struggle with wanting to have all my possessions with me and how nice the no bag lines are.

Isn't this just the best napkin
fold you've ever seen?
Tell me if you've seen better.
(And you may have.)

I've seen better in pictures. Not in person.

Oo I love that!

Oo I love that also.

Compared to the Japanese Wagyu,
the US Wagyu was garbage.
The difference was so beyond
anything I could've dreamed of
as to be indescribable.

Wow! Now I feel I need to try both.

Only 12 of them have Japanese Wagyu beef.

That really is fancy!

If it's not quite clear... this may
have been the best meal
I have ever had at Disney...
or anywhere.

Awesome. Glad to hear it lived up to expectations (and price!)

Coming up... The next chapter, of course!
Does anyone look at these things?
Tell me if you do.

I do!

So... while my back's a achin',
pkondz is a shovelin'.

Oh no be careful!

stupid question- but why not get a snowblower?

can we start a go fund me?

I hadn't really planned on dining
there, even though I had wanted to.
But when I found out that Liesa's
(@Steppesister ) trip was going to
overlap mine by a bit, I asked if
she wanted to have a DISmeet.
We've met a couple of times before,
and I just assumed she'd have learned
from her past mistakes and say "No".

However, she not only agreed to meet,
but when I mentioned Takumi-Tei,
she was very enthusiastic about it!
A perfect pairing....wonderful food AND wonderful company! :goodvibes
I made my way through Future World
and around World Showcase to Japan.
Liesa was sitting nearby, I believe.
Pretty sure she was there before me,
in any case. I could be wrong.

We entered the restaurant and were
immediately enchanted with the décor.
So lovely!
But while the room was pretty,
it paled in comparison to my
dining companion for the evening.
Such a lovely photo of you, Liesa!
We both popped it in our mouths, and...
Holy cow. It was amazing!
We both wondered aloud if we'd
made a mistake in ordering the tasting
menu since this item was on the main
menu as an entrée.
We mentioned this to our server
who told us that many guests do
in fact change their minds and instead
order the sea bass.
I think that's what I would go for. I adore sea bass.
I think we were both getting a bit
full by now, but... there was no way
I was leaving any of that gorgeous
meat on that plate!
I ate every bit of it and cried a little
bit when it was all gone.
It looks like an utterly fantastic meal!
It looked quite odd, but I can assure
you that it was quite nice and refreshing.
A very nice counterpoint to the protein
heavy meal we'd just enjoyed.
You would need something light after that meal.
If it's not quite clear... this may
have been the best meal
I have ever had at Disney...
or anywhere.
I would say it would be on par with V&A's simply from the photos.
Upon reflection...
Victoria & Albert is neck and neck

Good luck! Poor Winnipeg is getting dumped on right now.

Oooh, yours is the first review of this restaurant that I've read! Exciting :dancer:

Kami - Roku Gin, Sayuri "White Lilly"
Nigori Sake, Calipco, Lychee.
This, like many of the drinks I have in WDW that interest you, sounds like something I would enjoy!
I... I'm not quite sure how to say this...
It was... stunning. By far the best steak
I had ever eaten, in my life.
 I have never heard steak referred to as "stunning" but I guess that does say something about the meat! I can't tell Chris because he'll want to eat here every night of our next trip.
Suiren Dani (Japanese Water Cake,
Rose, Kuromitsu, Kinako Crumb).

It looked quite odd, but I can assure
you that it was quite nice and refreshing.
Yes odd indeed but also interesting; flavor detail please?
Coconut? :P
So.... I tweaked my back today at work.
Just... moved wrong, I guess.
Not even really sure what I did.
Feel better!

Oo man lol I thought for sure it was you.
Nope. :)
Wrong Province.
But I have done it.

A few times. :)
Oo how fancy.
::yes::
True. I struggle with wanting to have all my possessions with me and how nice the no bag lines are.
That's why I wear cargo shorts.
They're a terrible fashion statement...
but for touring parks...

I'll take the fashion faux pas.
I've seen better in pictures. Not in person.
I should have specified. :)
Oo I love that!
Cool, right? :)
Oo I love that also.
I did too.
No watered down drink for me!

Wow! Now I feel I need to try both.
I highly recommend it!
That really is fancy!
I guess it is. :)
Awesome. Glad to hear it lived up to expectations (and price!)
Definitely did!
So much so that I'd happily
do it again.
Okay!
Oh no be careful!
I tried.
I'm sore this morning, though.
Long day ahead...

stupid question- but why not get a snowblower?
A few reasons why not...
1. Cost. A decent snowblower is
going to run you close to $1,500
after taxes.
2. Use. That's a lot of money to
put out on an item that you'll
maybe use 3-4 times a year.
Usually when we get snow, it's
easy enough to shovel and not
really worth taking the blower out.
Unlike a lawnmower, that you'll use
every week (give or take), you might
use a snowblower (here in Winnipeg)
maybe only twice a year.
We did have one year a couple years
ago where I could have used one as
we got tons of snow and would have
used it a lot, but...
3. Storage. Those suckers are big.
And I would have a bit of a time
figuring out just where to store it.

I could. But... big.
can we start a go fund me?
I think that's not necessary.

What an amazing meal! A nice break from the theme park craziness.

Hope it stopped snowing for you. I completely agree about the snowblowers, I have one and I keep it maintained but it's just such a pain to use. By the time I get the darn thing started I could have finished shoveling.

A perfect pairing....wonderful food AND wonderful company! :goodvibes
You could do a lot worse than that!
So lovely!
I really loved the décor. :)
Such a lovely photo of you, Liesa!
That has nothing to do
with the photographer.

I think that's what I would go for. I adore sea bass.
It was amazing...
But... I don't think I could
ever not have that Wagyu.
It looks like an utterly fantastic meal!
Sooooo good!
You would need something light after that meal.
::yes::
If they'd come with... oh, say
a big slice of cake...

Nope!
I would say it would be on par with V&A's simply from the photos.
Very different with very
different service, but...
Close.

V&A has the edge on service, though.
I need details about that.........
Short on time right now, but...
Four Seasons (I believe?) in Toronto
hired a world class chef. After a few
years he left and opened a very
small dining experience in his home.
He has a farm and grows (meat, and
greens alike) most of what he cooks.

I had no idea food could taste like that.
Good luck! Poor Winnipeg is getting dumped on right now.
Finally slowed down.

Oooh, yours is the first review of this restaurant that I've read! Exciting :dancer:

 I have never heard steak referred to as "stunning" but I guess that does say something about the meat! I can't tell Chris because he'll want to eat here every night of our next trip.
Soooo good.
Yeah... better not tell him.

Yes odd indeed but also interesting; flavor detail please?
Coconut? :P
NO THERE WAS NO COCONUT!
What are you trying to do to me???????

I don't really remember... it was odd...
but at the same time refreshing.

We were instructed to mix it all together.
Feel better!
Thanks! :)
