Just curious if there was any news of contract extensions at beach club/boardwalk? Or any possible news of what their going to do with the dvc resorts ending in 2042....

Unfortunately, that isn't likely. The 2 resorts are in the 2nd most popular location of any resorts (save the MK resorts). They had no idea what they had when they set the points charts, and prices for these resorts. I believe they are killing themselves trying to figure out a way to get them back earlier. There's no way I'm giving up my BC/BWV points. They may be old and a bit dated, but I love my home resorts, always want to stay there.

Good points. Seems like such a waste to rip them all down though.. Thanks for response. I'll keep my ears open

There are also logistical issues with how the land lease was done for all 2042 resorts.

Would love to have an extensions at BWV/BCV, but I am 99.9% sure it will never happen. Those resorts will be refurbished and resold with point charts like VGF.

Even if they did even extend, it would come with new point charts for sure.

What are the issues?

do they differ than the newer resorts?
When they extend the land lease they extend every timeshare contract.

The newer resorts (post OKW extension) modified language.

They can let the land lease expire and do a new one the next day. But extend and everyone is extended.

2042 is fine for us. I agree that BWV and BCV were under estimated by WDW. We love the area but are unable to get there as much as we would like.

I agree with other, there's no way they will extend the date past 2042. I sure wish they would but I know it is highly unlikely. IMHO this is the best location on property, the proximity to Epcot and HS can't be beat and the views from BW w/BW view can't be beat.

My husband ask me the other night what was the most desired DVC at Disney World and I told him I thought that the BCVs were. I have no way of proving such, just my opinion, but to me SAB just puts it on a higher level than where the other DVC properties are. Ya, I know Disney is literally wanting to kick themselves in the tail with the low point charts now at the BCVs and can't wait to re-gain those points in 2042. It also still surprises me that they haven't done a Yacht Club DVC. I think that might be because the Yacht is a convention resort, right and if they did I don't think they would want to give out studios at 12 points a night, or points similar to that of the Beach Club, right or not? I mean, if they did a Yacht Club DVC, the point structure would need to be close to what the BCVs are I would think.

Those with much more DVC knowledge can feel free to chime in here. Would love to hear others thoughts.

I'd love a Yacht Club DVC. I think they could go higher in point costs. They might have to make the rooms different somehow. To make it stand out from BCV.

I think they would have to do something no doubt if they did that before 2042. Right now a studio during the first week of October, during the week is like 15 points a night, I know they wish those would go for around at least 25 points a night. If they had a similar set up at the Yacht, I just don't see how they could get that 25 points a night for the same time frame. But it doesn't mean they wouldn't like too. I just wonder if when they reign back in the BCVs in 2042 and then do a re-branding, if then they will do a Yacht Club DVC. But I also think the convention side of the Yacht comes into play as well as to why they don't have a DVC, (yet).

I don't think it is point chart worries. Cutting YC in half would make it hard to fulfill needed room block numbers to attract conventions to the Boardwalk center. Conventions, in their way, are even better money than DVC.

A lot of people mentioned the points being to low at beach club and that's why disney won't extent the contract, but premier season is only 5-10 points difference compared to riviera..?? I would hope they would offer something to existing members at a resort even if it wasn't an extension. Maybe a discount on a new contract at the newly refurbished/remodeled beach club/boardwalk resort??

A couple years back, a very reliable source posted about future DVC projects (pre-poly DVC) and has been spot on so far. At that time, they posted another DVC in the BCV/YC area was planned. Everything that source posted at the time has come to fruition so, I do think it’s definitely possible.

The post was from Tikiman. I’m not 100% if it originated on Disboards, webpage or other social media forum. I will try to find it. Lots of good info for the time with Poly & VWL going under massive DVC construction.
