Canadian Buffoon's Exhausted Vacation - Update 09/01 - New TR link!

Did you mean the Omakase she did at Morimoto Asia? Or does she have yet another TR out there that I am missing? It wouldn't surprise me as she has so many!
I’m almost positive it was her and Steve that went there a while back. Don’t think they did Omakasi but I was pretty sure they did this restaurant.
Yes, I'm pretty sure they did it.
But... I'm not positive...

I remember us having the discussion about the farm a few years back. Sounds like a neat idea. Someday we are going to go to the French Laundry in Napa. Jill wants in on that one. That should be a meal to remember as well!
Wow, no kidding! I want in too!!!

(As I rudely invite myself along. :sad2:)

Well I'm going to put this out there and tag @chunkymonkey to let her have the final say. But I'm just sayin', if you folks remember a TR post or dining review of Takumi Tei from Su-Lynn, keep in mind that the place opened on July 16, 2019. I remember reading the Disney Food Blog review and finding it a little weird for my taste. Su-Lynn is still working on her TR from the Epic Girls trip which was two months before the place actually opened. I did find this post, but the pictures aren't showing up. Morimoto Omikase

Also, after reading pkondz's report it sounded much better than what the DFB posted. What you two ate makes me want to go there!

I could DEFINITELY BE WRONG!! I often am. Could very well have been someone else (I get confused very easily these days!) Either way, it was amazing and after I get caught up on everyone else's threads after my Tucson trip I will work on my update for this dinner.

Okay, you beat me to it.
So... Su-Lynn will be the
final arbiter here.

Who will come out victorious?!?!?

Hide And Seek

Boo!

We last left off with
fine dining and finer
company.

Now it's time for costume
finery and more company.

Leading up to this vacation,
I knew I wanted to do MNSSHP
one more time.

It's questionable whether I'll
do it again after this time...
but, most likely, if the opportunity
presents itself, I think I would.
Even with the crowds...
it's just too darned fun.

Doc and I had texted/PMd back
and forth a few times and it
finally looked like we were
going to be at the party
at the same time.

I later found out that Liesa
(@Steppesister ) and Kari
(@Malia78 ) were also attending
that night.
It was looking like a great time
of trick or treating and DIS-meeting
was going to happen.

Well... It didn't quite work out like that...
First of all, due to personal reasons,
Kari wound up not being able
to attend.
And then Liesa told me that she
was going to be in the park
sooner than I was and had
some plans and would meet
me later, rather than earlier.

The coordination with Doc
started that afternoon with
Doc texting me:

Doc: What time are you getting here?
pkondz: Aiming for around 6:00

I wasn't positive, with transportation,
what time I'd get there, nor was
I sure how long it would take
to get ready to go.

I mean... I knew I'd catch a bus
within seconds, but I wasn't
quite sure how long until
I got to the park.

As it turned out, I got there
fairly close to my guesstimate.

IMG_3027b_zps903i1y7p.jpg

(If you look in the crowd, right in the middle, you can see a pretty impressive Winifred Sanderson costume.)

I got through the security
gauntlet and past the tapstile
and headed into the park.
As I made my way,
I texted Doc, to let him know
I was there.

(6:19pm) pkondz: Here

A short time later,
he replied:

Doc: At aloha isle

pkondz: At Auntie Gravity
Doc: Not sure where that is

Doc: In pirates

Okay... Doc's in POTC so
that's going to take him a bit.

I headed in that direction
and sent him this:

pkondz: Passing aloha isle

And kept right on going.
Nope, not stopping for
a Dole Whip quite yet.
I had other plans...

I made a hard right
and headed for Liberty Square.
I had a FP for PP and figured
while he was waiting in line
or riding POTC, I'd ride PP.
I muted my phone for a bit
so that it wouldn't sound
while I was on the ride.

Unfortunately, while I was
doing that, Doc was sending this:

Doc: Will be off pirates in 5

Doc: Oitside (sic)
Doc: Where are you?

Doc: Hello hello hello

Whoops!

During that time, I rode PP
(Man I love that ride! )
and exited.
There were lots of people
around by now, in all kinds
of costumes, ranging from
a simple "This is my costume"
T-shirt to full on elaborate,
like these guys:

IMG_3028_zpssdwh2yh3.jpg

There was one woman in a costume
who was walking past in the
direction I'd be soon heading.
Cute costume. Old school Bo Peep.
Nice job, too... wait...
I know her! It's Liesa!
I bustled over and said hi.
She hit me with her crook.
I didn't blame her.
Strange men running
up to women probably
deserve to get knocked
over the head with a crook.
And... really... it doesn't get
much stranger than me, right?
Tell me if I'm right.

Liesa said she was heading
towards HM. I turned my
phone volume up and saw
Doc's urgent texts. Whoops!

pkondz: Just off Pan. Found Liesa.

Doc: We're by island supply
Doc: Heading toward pan
pkondz: Heading to HM after tangled tinkle spot

pkondz: She's easy to spot lol

When you're with Liesa,
you quickly learn why she
knows all the best spots
to pee in the Disney parks.

:rolleyes1

We finally all met up near HM.
Doc and his brother were
dressed as Jedi and Coni
was Cruella.

And.... I was too pleased to
see them all and too busy
yacking and...
More of Doc's family was
coming in soon, so they had
to head to the front of the
park, but no big deal, because
we'll meet up later for sure,
so no, I didn't get a photo,
and I never saw them again.

So... poop.

(Doc, if you have a photo
of you guys, please post!)

Liesa and I headed over to HM.
Always love the characters
interacting with guests there.

IMG_3035_zpsksfo94ol.jpg

We headed inside and
boarded our doom buggy.

Okay... I'll admit...
Maybe I was a little...
presumptuous...
We got in and I asked
Liesa if she'd mind if I
sat on the side closest
to the ballroom.

Actions speak louder
than words.
She let me know quite
clearly what she thought
of that idea.

530960289_zpsezgnm8mz.jpg

Do not come between a woman
and the ballroom scene!

We stopped for some photos
after our ride and my concussion.

530981575_zpsipo7omwe.jpg

Liesa mentioned that she was
getting hungry and was going
to head over to Pecos for some
nachos. I mentioned that I was
hungry too (starve a cold,
feed a concussion) and would
she like to split an order
instead of my skull?

She said yes... probably hoping
to quickly scarf them down before
I got my grubby paws on them,
but I managed to avoid her
flailing crook and have a few bites.

Around this time, Doc texted again.

Doc: At Casey's. Niece wanted food

pkondz: At Pecos. Splitting nachos
Doc: If you see Kari, tell her I said hi
Doc: I don't know if I'll do this again. Way too many people
pkondz: Yeah. Lots. Kari not here
Doc: Considering how much it costs, I just don't think it should be their (sic) crowded get off my lawn!

pkondz: Lol. Agreed though

There were way more guests than
I'd ever seen before at MNSSHP.
This was at least my third? Fourth?
MNSSHP and I'd never seen it like this.

After finishing the nachos,
I rubbed my rapped knuckles
against my thrice or more
concussed head and in the
interests of self preservation,
parted ways with Liesa.

I think she had some MNSSHP
magic shots she wanted to do
while I was more interested in
simply wandering and taking
in the sights.
(Although I did wind up doing
magic shots as well, later.)

IMG_3040_zpsjtascts0.jpg

IMG_3041b_zpsrozwg7xc.jpg

I also spent some time
trying to find some rum.
You see, I'd come to the party
heavily fortified, but as the
night went on, my spirits
mysteriously (hic!) dish...
disssp… dashap… vanished.

I was told that there might
be some rum near Liberty Square,
so I set out with high hopes
and higher blood alcohol level.

I met three jovial gentlemen
who were also on the look-out
for some spirits.
They thought we could
hitch a ride to the rum.
I joined them in their quest.

530983801_zpsxvby21c8.jpg

Unfortunately, a ride never
did materialize, whereas
my gentlemen friends seemed
to de-materialize.
Not sure where they got off to.

I set out once more and found
a brace of well-dressed lads
whom I felt sure would be
able to help me with my task.

I approached them and asked
if they knew where I might
find some refreshments.

530994287_zpsyg1qnd2d.jpg

I at first thought they were
going to steer me towards
some wine, but alas, they
were only talking about the
swine.

Not funny. They were dead
to me from then on.

530994237_zps66mazkyq.jpg

530995051_zpsedgwaahw.jpg

(love the gravedigger on the left!)

I clarified my desire for rum,
not wine, nor swine.
I had a surfeit of those already.
They were kind enough, at least,
to point me in the proper direction.

530995269_zpsgebrqk3r.jpg

Just as well as it appeared that
they were prepared to dig a new
hole of which I would be the guest
of honour… Time to leave.

Following directions, I found my
way out to the stables where
there was indeed a cache of rum.
At least I think they were stables.
I certainly saw a horse there.
A kind gentleman on said horse
provided me with libations.
Quite kind of him.
But if I continue drinking rum
all night, I'm sure to lose me head!

531073631_zps5illle3n.jpg

So... now that you've had
a good look at it...

Can anyone (not you Doc,
and not you either, Liesa...
You both know) tell me what
my costume is?

I thought I was so clever.
I'd get lots of comments
and reactions and...

Nobody got it.
No one.

Well... I think there was
one guy who did after a while.
He did ask if I was who he
thought I was. And was right.

So... who am I dressed as?
PM me if you think you know.

After slaking my thirst,
it was time for a tour on
a pirate ship.

Walking towards POTC,
I bumped into Liesa again
and she decided to join me.

It wasn't out of any desire
for companionship, as you'll
soon see for yourselves...

We entered the queue which
moved along at a brisk pace.
I find that part of the fun of
POTC during MNSSHP are
the live actors.

There's always one in the
"jail" in the queue.
I told him I'd slipped him a key
in a bottle of rum.
He thanked me... And then I
said "Of course there are
hundreds of bottles..."

He replied, "I'm up for the challenge!"

Soon enough, we boarded our boat.
It soon became clear just why
Liesa wanted to join me...

531040233_zpsk2byajr7.jpg

The wench was after me rum!!

I managed to fight her off
while only losing a few sips
to her.

After our ride, we parted
ways once more (to safeguard
the rum, of course) and I made
my way to the front of the park
to watch the late parade.

I remember the first time
I'd been to MNSSHP.
We watched the 2nd parade
and were almost the only
people on Main St.
This time, there was no room
to sit anywhere and I wound up
standing behind a few people
who were sitting down.

Enjoyed the parade as always
but didn't take photos.
I was tired and just wanted
to watch and enjoy.
I've taken photos before
so feel free to visit a previous
TR if you really feel the need.

Once the parade ended, I decided
that I'd accomplished all that
I wanted to and headed back
to the hotel for the night.

I have never done MNSSHP. I would like to do it at least once. The only special event party I ever did was 10+ years ago when they had the pirate and princess ones. Talk about an empty park.

I have heard that this is a very cool parade.

How many Sandersons do you think there are at MNSSHP every year?

to full on elaborate,
like these guys:
I love the costumes at the Halloween parties. I aspire to be one of the people that everyone wants to get a picture of because it's so awesome.

Tell me if I'm right.
::yes::

Always love the characters
interacting with guests there.
I still haven't been able to experience this yet! Hopefully this will be the year.

I have yet to take a single decent photo of a nighttime parade. One of the hardest things to do well!

Yes, I'm pretty sure they did it.

:) Thanks guys for thinking of me especially in assocation with food. :)
Yes we've done both Takumi Tei and Morimoto. We did the omakase at Both. Takumi Tei is definitely more beef-focuse. The tasting menu is very rich. I don't normally eat so much meat in one sitting so I decided that if we do it again, we would order alacarte and share. I did love the sushi!
We did Takumi Tei last November so I don't have a tip report yet for that one, here are some pictures:

@franandaj we are for sure interested in 21 Royale so if you ever do one of those count us in! (As well as our mutual friend in FL! She is interested too!)

Thank you. But I'm doing much
better now.
I got home last night and my
oldest DD had shoveled!
I was both shocked and relieved.

Certainly my back was relieved!

This is good news! You have a wonderful daughter.

Nooo!!!
Warm fronts mean snow!

And... now look what you did!
I checked the forecast and...

It's supposed to warm up to
16F on Monday... and more snow.

This is all your fault, Vanessa!!!

I'm sorry. It's the opposite for us down here. Warm front means we're going to sweat and cool front means we might actually get to wear long pants.

I have never done MNSSHP. I would like to do it at least once. The only special event party I ever did was 10+ years ago when they had the pirate and princess ones. Talk about an empty park.
Definitely not empty for MNSSHP.
But if you like Halloween (as I do)
then you'd still like it, despite

the crowds (I think.)
Knew it!!!
I hear they have gotten very crowded like many things at Disney.
::yes::
Love this shot.
:)
That one gravedigger
was terrific. :)

All will be revealed. :)
I have heard that this is a very cool parade.
It is Disney's best parade.
Easily.

How many Sandersons do you think there are at MNSSHP every year?
At least four.
That one...
And the three on stage.
I love the costumes at the Halloween parties. I aspire to be one of the people that everyone wants to get a picture of because it's so awesome.
I was that person a while back.
I went as the Duke of Weselton
and I had a fair amount of people

taking my photo.
No surprise.
I still haven't been able to experience this yet! Hopefully this will be the year.
I hope you can too!
Rule No. 1 of HM
Found that out the hard way.
Yikes I'm nervous for how crowded it will be on Halloween
On the 31st??
I know it sells out...
So... add several more

thousand guests...
Thanks for noticing.
I'm here all night.
Try the veal.

Wow Cindy there is less than pleased to be on a pirate ship
::yes:: Noticed that.
ETA: And in the back there Starlord couldn't find the camera 😂
I guess he was dabbing.
I have yet to take a single decent photo of a nighttime parade. One of the hardest things to do well!
Not easy... but for a real
challenge... try catching
the Headless Horseman
as he gallops by.

Not easy!

If it involves Disney and copious amounts of food, I've probably done it.
:lmao:
Yes we've done both Takumi Tei
I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!
Takumi Tei is definitely more beef-focuse. The tasting menu is very rich. I don't normally eat so much meat in one sitting so I decided that if we do it again, we would order alacarte and share. I did love the sushi!
Ah! Good point.
Loooots of beef. ::yes::

BTW, pkondz, were you a pirate pork farmer for MNSSHP?
Not quite. :)

This is good news! You have a wonderful daughter.
I have two!
But when it comes to
shoveling... one is more

wonderful than the other.

:rolleyes2
I'm sorry. It's the opposite for us down here. Warm front means we're going to sweat and cool front means we might actually get to wear long pants.
Sweat... due to higher humidity,
not sunshine, yes?
