Step up to the plate Disney Cruise Line!

I don't mind that it's not quite authentic, but I do think it should be changed up way more frequently. When I go on another cruise it would be nice to have different choices to look forward to rather than the same things I've already tried.

This. A couple items that are more authentic, sure. But many don't care for spicy food and you still need a vegetarian/vegan dish, as well as GF. Not to mention that on a 7-night cruise, they serve their specific dining room menu exactly 3 times. The other 4 nights the menu is the same across all the main dining rooms, which is one reason we go to Palo on Pirate Night.

On our 7 night, the menu was different across every single night with each restaurant having differences from the other two on night 4 and beyond. Yes, Pirate Night is the same everywhere because that whole menu is tailored to that activity for everyone. I do know that each restaurant has a standard dinner and a "first night" dinner (the first night you dine in that restaurant for that cruise), but each standard menu is different from the others.

In other words - each restaurant has three menus: "First Night", Pirate Night, and all other nights. Pirate Night is the only one that's the same across all restaurants. Each restaurant's first and 'all other' menus will be unique to that restaurant.

Yeah I also wished it was more authentic and flavorful.. sic. And most of all I would like that they find a solution to have HOT food, on the last EBTA it was awful, it was, for us, most of the time, served cold or lukewarm, and everywhere (MDR for all 3 meals and Cabana's for breakfast and lunch).... We ended going 3 times to Palo for dinner because of these 2 reasons, and one time at Cabanas for dinner where it was way better than in the MDR.

Yep it’s hard to get hot food especially if you have no kids at the table. They bring a bunch of plates out at one time. Than you wait while they serve the other tables first the whole time you are waiting your food is getting cold.

What about saying to your table mates: "I'm sorry, I'll start, as I don't want to let my food get cold."

On our 7 night Western Caribbean on the Fantasy (two adults, private table), I think we had one meal where it really should have been warmer than it was, but it was tolerable. The rest were all good.

Did a four night in the Dream in 2014 and they couldn't serve a hot meal to save their lives (three adults, two children at our own table).

Is the food very spicy at Tiana's? I have a family member who is very sensitive to spicy food.

For longer cruises on the wonder, if you have the potential to dine at each restaurant 3 times, is there anything special with each restaurant. i.e. Animator's palate will change color, then it will do animation magic show, but what about the third time experiencing? In addition, what about Tiana's or Triton's. Thanks!

It would be so easy to serve good Cajun food that excites the palate. I’m always disappointed in the food at Tiana’s Place, which constantly misses the mark. The cruise line has wonderful chefs and cook staff so why can’t someone do it right?
We're Texans, and were likewise stunned by the quality of the "barbeque" offered on Castaway Cay day. I reflected on the situation and realized that the cooks were not American, and did not have much, if any, experience with regional American food, and therefore not to expect that to be their strong suit. The same is true with Cajun, imo.

I don't think they could ever satisfy everybody with that BBQ since there are many different views on what BBQ should or should not be. You ever wanna see a lively discussion; get a group together from Texas, St. Louis and the Carolinas to discuss proper BBQ. 🤣

I like ALL the different regional takes on BBQ...except the kind served on Castaway ;)

"Inspired by" is a good way to think of DCL food. I too wish DCL would up its food game - it is possible to feed the masses and not have the food be bland. We were on the Celebrity Edge in 2019 and were quite impressed with the dining rooms and the buffet. DCL food is quite bland when it comes to any herbs or spices. If you want flavorful food, ask your server for recommendations - you may be surprised at what arrives to your table :-)

I’d just settle for my food being hot enough for my particular taste which admittedly is off the scale hot. Most food is served that tastes only luke warm to me. My amazing server bless him who used to be spot on has left DCL😢😢
I’m not holding out much hope going forwards. I’m afraid to say that for me Princess wiped the floor with Disney’s food on my last cruise. Guess like everything it’s personal taste.

I have never had an issue with food temperature on a Disney Cruise. I can totally understand where some might though. Its going to be hit or a miss.

That being said, I love Cajun food but never expect it to hit the spot the way you would get in NOLA. I actually had the pleasure of talking to my server on the Magic about this. He had just moved to the Magic from the Wonder and I had lots of questions as the wonder is the only ship I haven't been on.

On any of the ships, regardless of the menu, they have to appeal to the most broad possible audience. You can always add more salt and seasoning etc but you cant take it off. For Tiana's he always had issues. Thing were too adventurous for people. They didn't like the menu. They had no interest in Cajun Food, etc. More than any other night, he would have special requests from other Dining room menus. It was a pain.

Its also really tough because the surveys never go to the kitchen. The food quality sections all reflect on the servers which seems ridiculous to me.

When we did the 11 night Southern Caribbean on the Fantasy, on the third night at Animator's Palace the tv screens played a bunch of scenes from old Disney cartoons, as I recall. My memory is sketchy, but I do recall that we were happily entertained.
