Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

Hi there! We are staying at CBR in May and I want to have a celebration cake delivered there to commemorate our family's first Disney trip with our kids. I understand I order through Sebastian's who then orders from Boardwalk? Are we able to have a chocolate statue added for this location and if so - what options are available? thanks!

You can always call BoardWalk Private Dining and ask what's currently available (number in Post #2)—it's just the order that has to be placed via Sebastian's.

Right now BoardWalk has the following white chocolate statues on hand at $30 each:
  • Mickey
  • Minnie
  • Donald
  • Goofy
  • Pluto
  • Castle
They can order these with a few weeks' notice:
  • Stitch
  • Tinkerbell
  • Chip
  • Dale
  • Cinderella
  • Snow White
  • Belle

Has anyone tried for a Star Wars design recently? I read a while back where it said they were stopping... Going for my dad's birthday next month, trying to put together ideas for a cake. He loves Star Wars and the color orange, so I was hoping for an orange cake with some blue ships (probably cut out of fondant on a fondant covered cake?). Any chance they'd be able to make that happen since it isn't overtly Star Wars characters? (Staying at Riviera so it would be the Yacht & Beach team.)

We are going in June and I wondered the same thing. I do not think you can get the actual ships, but "inspired" you are more likely to get away with at WDW. I wondered if there was a way to do a R2D2 inspired cake, maybe white fondant with blue squares/circle of fondant? I am open to other ideas of how to make it work. Somewhere on the board there is a Chewie inspired cake to give you an idea.

For Boardwalk, do you order directly through Paddlefish or can I call the bakery and just pick it up take to Paddlefish with us?

Paddlefish is at Disney Springs, isn't it?

Either way, the information for Boardwalk from Post #2 on Page 1 of this thread:

BoardWalk Inn + All Restaurants on the BoardWalk* 407-939-5175
To pick up a cake at BoardWalk Bakery, call 407-939-6355.

  • Mickey Mouse Celebration Dome Cake: $35 chocolate cake with chocolate mousse or vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse
  • 8-inch $40 custom vanilla, chocolate or marble cake; filling is chocolate or vanilla buttercream, white or dark chocolate mousse, fruit mousse or custard with strawberries; frosting is vanilla or chocolate buttercream or whipped cream
  • 10-inch $54 custom cake, same options as 8-inch custom cake
  • Screen print costs $15 for flat and $30 for standing (on a piece of white chocolate).
  • Mini cakes are two tiers and serve 2. They are usually covered in buttercream, though fondant can be requested on one-tier minicakes. Not all cake or filling flavors may be available; prices start around $35
  • Fancy, fondant-covered cakes start at $32 on top of the price for a basic cake in the size you want (see above); smallest customizable cake is 8 inches.

BoardWalk Bakery doesn't deliver to Paddlefish. Oh! Do you mean Flying Fish? For that, you just call BoardWalk Private Dining at the number in Post #2 and posted above.

Figure out where you want it delivered and then go to the first page of this thread and call that location. Only they can tell you if there is enough time. If you want a mini cake they will ask for flavour (chocolate or vanilla are most common) and then if you want a theme tell them the theme you are looking for.

Just got back from WDW a few days ago and wanted to share the cake we had delivered to Cape May (YC/BC bakery). We were doing several runDisney races over Marathon week and our costumes were all from Alice in Wonderland, so I wanted an Alice themed cake with the rabbit running. My friend also collects mugs, so I really wanted teacup ride like mugs for each tier.

It was an orange cake with passion fruit mousse filling and vanilla buttercream. I believe it was $83, which felt kind of steep for a mini, but I also haven't bought a cake from WDW since Dec 2017, and it was pretty heavily decorated. My last heavily decorated mini was around $55, but that was in 2013, so I know things change. I will say this...YC/BC was so easy to work with for this one. They gave me several running rabbit options, they were good with the flavors without me having to push or beg, offered to sculpt the cups (I still wanted them to look like mugs), and never left me waiting when I left messages. All in all, it was a very positive experience. It's just too bad I can no longer eat any of this. My friend was stuck eating cake. The characters tried to help, but they can only do so much. ;)

super cute!

I have been reading over these threads for days now, trying to muster up the courage to order a cake for my daughters 2nd birthday. We will be celebrating on her birthday (Jan. 28) at Chef Mickey for dinner. I have seen people post, when ordering for a CR restaurant, to call the cake number and transfer to CR and I have seen others say they were told to email someone (Brian?) directly? I want to order a mini wedding cake (the 2-tiered one, right?) Help?!

All information is on the front page of this thread. You will get an email address once you ring and enquire first. Email addresses of bakers/cake decorators are not recommended giving out for the reason of needing to enquire yourself first.

I've been scanning all of these posts/pages and haven't seen anything so thought I'd toss it out there:

My daughters' birthdays are 2.5 weeks apart, and our visit in late April falls smack between their birthdays so am thinking about getting them a cake to surprise them. Has anyone seen a "split" cake done where it's two different designs? e.g. one half is Moana and the other is Inside Out? Just as an example. (I don't even know if they do Inside Out cakes...) Or seen any fun ways to have a cake to celebrate two different birthdays?

thanks!

In one of the earlier Cake Chatter threads, I know we saw half Belle and half Snow White (conceptual dresses in fondant), but they usually don’t permit cakes that involve two different character universes. I was denied when I wanted Donald on one side and Stitch on the other. I think the other was allowed because they are princesses that can appear together in princess merch.

good to know, thank you! I'll try to find that image online somewhere. That could work.

I’m still going really back and forth about ordering a cake for my trip next month. We aren’t celebrating anything specific, but I’ve ordered a cake every trip for the last 6ish years, so it feels really weird not to! I’ve ordered “welcome to disney” type cakes before, so I think I can come up with something fun and special...they’re always a total hit and such a special way to make a family memory.

Anyways, I know things have changed recently and there’s a new “it” bakery that’s knocking it out of the park with their creations. Is it Boardwalk? Do they deliver to all restaurants in Disney resort restaurants in the boardwalk/beach club area? Thanks in advance, fellow cake lovers!

second question: any recent experiences ordering from AKL? i ordered a cake about 5 years back and it was a bit of a process. it turned out cute, but not what i was expecting. any good or bad experiences from the last year-ish?

It’s Yacht & Beach Club, and they only deliver to rooms and restaurants at that resort.
