Quoting the list from the initial post so that I can retire some of the 2019 information to free up space in the first post for 2020.

Update and a huge thank you to @katallo who replaced the teal bin for us! Thank you so much!!! It is still teal so we are good there.

Lately we have had some hiccups with pickup of bins due to folks wishing to reserve the bins very close to travel start dates. If the bins are available, we want to accomodate you, but it causes lots of trouble after the fact if you sign up and don't follow the directions from the first post. It can cause anxiety for those after you if the bins are not labeled correctly when you depart. Please do not message those before and after you on the list until you have received a reply from me confirming that you are assigned a bin.

As a reminder, please let me know if either bin is low or out of tape, markers, or index cards to label the bin so that I can coordinate with someone using the bin after you to replace those supplies.

*Remember* the bins operate on an honor system and only exist because of the generosity of the Disers who have added to the bin before you. Please be kind and take care of the bins! Please message me if you need any help and I am glad to assist. :flower3:

My suggestion is to wait closer to your time to reach out to the person before & after you, i have now given my info to multiple people. 2-3-4 months out, maybe keep it to 2 weeks before check - in, gets confusing.

I understand the suggestion but it sort of has to work the way we’re currently doing it. The person before you is checking in today. If she had waited until closer to your travel dates, your name wouldn’t be on the bin when you get there. I know this is obvious but the bin has to be labeled with someone’s information when the person who currently has it drops it off. There may be someone to sign up in between Kristen and you (again, I know! I’m sorry) but the next person can give your name at bell services if indeed someone does sign up between you and Kristen. I can’t think of another way to handle it unless we always leave it labeled with my name and I think there’s a chance bell services wouldn’t allow that. (Which is why it doesn’t just say Disboards Bin #1, among other reasons)

It has just come to my attention that the "new" board settings have a privacy preference that will prevent other Disers from being able to get in touch with you to coordinate the bin. The message board privacy settings (under your account>privacy) allow you to turn off the ability to receive PMs/conversations from other board members if you choose to receive messages only from "people you follow" or "nobody". Please do not do this - if you do, the other members of this thread have no way of getting in touch with you and the bin will not be labeled with your name for you to pick up. I will post a screen grab below of the setting that your message preference needs to be set to in order to participate on this thread.

I do not like giving out anyone's name or contact information without their knowledge and consent but it puts us all in a sticky spot if the members before and after you aren't able to reach out directly. I have updated post #2 with the above information. Please be sure your message settings allow the other folks here to be in touch if necessary!

Thank you! :flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

Thank you for checking in about the bin! Do you know if it was labeled with your name on it? I just want to be able to tell the next family what to ask for.
I sent you a PM to request a bin for an upcoming stay!

As we move forward to start traveling again (fingers crossed) can the last few folks who had the bin check in with the thread (and PM me the name left on the bin if you are able)?

I think the last users were @Sonoma and @KristenCarll - just want to make sure the next travelers know what to ask for when they arrive :flower3:

Thinking out loud here about safety in this "new normal" or "normal for now" as the CEO of my company calls it, which I like :)

Should we keep the trades to a low enough volume for a while to allow for a week off between participants for each bin? Like week 1 teal bin, week 2 black bin, week 3 teal bin, week 4 black bin, and so on? For now the list looks like it is plenty of rest time between bin "reservations" for the time being anyway.

Of course we can always just wipe stuff down before use, but it might be nice to have a little extra time barrier for safety.

Anyway, just a thought!

With demand what it is now we can definitely do this. I’d love to hear from others too if this is what the majority would like (in case guest reservations return to what they were before so that there are people wanting bins more than this plan would accommodate). Perhaps going forward someone can mention if they prefer the bin be “quarantined” for at least 2-3 days ahead of their vacation? For example, if I was checking in on July 3, I could mention I’d like the bin reserved for quarantine beginning July 1. At any rate I will keep yours quarantined ahead of your trip, Kristin! Good idea.

Well friends, I don't know how to say this. I have crappy news and more crappy news that I will veil as a positive. First, the crappy:

Msfredna went to pick up the black bin and bell services couldn't find it for her in the luggage room. They allowed her to help look and the bin simply wasn't there. They've told her that the resort cleaned out the luggage room during the resort closure and placed unclaimed items with lost and found. Lost and found holds items for 30 days. Our bins appear to be permanently retired.

Now, the still crappy, but fake happy:

WE HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY!!! If you are visiting WBC and would like to volunteer to help restart a bin, please let me know. I don't want to ask favors of anyone flying because that's a burden, but if you are driving and are willing to help please let me know. I am willing to contribute the cost of the bin and will be looking through my Disney items to see if I have anything helpful to restart the bin. I'm thinking I could mail some items to our bin starting volunteer at either his/her home or at the resort.

I'm sorry to have to share this news. I am probably unreasonably sad given that these are just bins full of unwanted things, but they have brought me so much happiness and are such fun surprises that I sincerely regret their loss.

I hope you are all staying well and taking care of yourselves and your families.

Melinda
