Any thoughts on my dd's app for Spring 2020?

My daughter finally got the email about scheduling her PI. She's all set up for Monday afternoon. And now she's in hyper prep mode!

I'm so worried. My DD's PI is tomorrow and we just had to put our dog down. We had an appointment for Friday (which she didn't know about) but he just wasn't doing well and I couldn't make him wait. It was seriously, the hardest thing I have ever had to do, and my DD came with. She didn't want any regrets to not be with him at the very end. I hope she is in the right head space tomorrow during the interview. She did not go to her first day of classes today - e-mailed the professors and explained what happened. Ugh.

Getting NLIC would just be the worst this week!

@McKelly so sorry to hear about your dog. We faced this a couple of years ago, and you are right, it was the hardest thing we have ever had to do. You did the right thing for him! Hopefully her interview is a good distraction!

On a brighter note-just thought I would share DD's first couple of days in the DCP- I know it's different for everyone, but hopefully this will give you an idea. She is QFBS at Art of Animation. She checked in 1/13- she is off site so it took 5 minutes and she had Casting later that afternoon- took 30 minutes. She then had off until Saturday when she did Traditions. So her first paycheck that she will get on Thursday, will be for a couple of hours of work- letting everyone know, so they plan accordingly!

After Traditions, she had 3 days on her schedule that she had to dress business or business casual- dark jeans were acceptable. She had 2 days at Disney U and 1 at Art of Animation. Unfortunately, her day at AofA was the day costuming was closed, so she had to return the next day at 7am to pick up her costume (she says sizes don't line up so try on the pants!). She got the next 2 weeks of her schedule on Monday and she works 6 days a week with the same day off each week. Each shift is 6 to 9 hours.

Even though she is offsite for housing, she has met several people-there were meet and greets and through training. She is glad she has a car and has given some rides, since the bus service does not always run at a convenient time. She was happy to have a group of people to walk in with to AofA this morning!

She got access to the Hub yesterday and was able to request days off- no idea if the request will be granted, but that was the process.

Thanks for sharing!! Wow, your dd is working a lot of hours, it sounds like. For some reason, I thought shifts were all 6 hours long. Not sure where I got that idea.

Glad your dd is meeting people and hopefully making some friends!! We will find out my dd’s complex on Monday!!

Sorry about your pup. How was the PI today?

So, while my DD was asked during the interview about living independently, it turns out, it didn't matter! She was offered Front Desk today for Fall Advantage! We are so excited!

Congratulations!! Front Desk sounds like the perfect place for your daughter! Lucky her knowing she'll be inside in the a/c during the hot summer months! :D

Can’t wait to hear more!! Fingers crossed for her!

My daughter had her PI earlier today. She felt it went really well (and I agree -- I stood outside her bedroom door and listened to her end of the conversation. But she doesn't know that. :D) More than half of her 20 minute interview was spent discussing her job experience and how she handles customers at Starbucks. Her recruiter did ask about her living situation -- asking if she's ever lived with roommates. She talked about spending several weeks over the summer and random long weekends during the school year at her friend's parent's beach house (I'm not sure why we didn't think of her experience at the beach house as "independent living" prior to last week. I guess because it would be a week or two at a time and then she'd be at home for a week or 2. Just seemed like "vacation") She explained how there were 4-6 people at the house and only 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The recruiter asked how they handled that and she said they sat down on arrival day and created a bathroom and cleaning schedule for the week and that they rotated who got to sleep in a bed and who slept on a couch or air mattress. She also mentioned how she has grown up with 4 siblings so she's very accustomed to sharing bathrooms and working out routines/schedules. That part of the conversation was less than a minute and seemed to satisfy the recruiter as she went on to talk to my daughter for another 10 minutes after that. None of her questions were a surprise and were all things that she could answer without referring to her notes. She said it really just felt like a conversation, not an interview. It seems (to me) like she's probably being considered for QSFB. She would definitely be interested in working at one of the Starbucks in the parks. She actually used that as one of her questions at the end of the interview..."Are the Starbucks in the parks a location that College Program cast member could be assigned?" She already knew the answer but wanted to use that question to make a point that she'd be interested in working there. So now the long stressful wait begins.... :)

Sounds like it went great!!! That’s awesome. Fingers crossed for her!

Congrats to your dd! Front desk will be great in the summer heat!

Congrats to those with role offers already!
To my surprise my college senior has also applied for fall-even though she also has graduate school interviews for fall set up (in fact Purdue is flying her out in couple weeks to see their program in person). She also talked a co worker at the McAlisters where she works into applying for the first time-they are both awaiting word on when to schedule their phone interviews -seems slots for a while are full. Her best friend she made during her first DCP is also on to her phone interview...
She may have a very tough decision to make soon, but is somehow hoping to push grad school start off til January as she really really wants one more time in DCP...I already have my AP for this year so would just give me (more) excuses to go LOL.

She did make a good chunk of money during her DCP's though!

It's great she has choices! What role did your DD have that she made a good chunk of money?

@wendow Just wanted to let your daughter know that the shoes they give QFBS are awful. My daughter wore them one day and said never again. She had some Skechers she wore to work at her restaurant, she says those are so much better.

Oh no!! Are they allowed to wear any other shoes that are safe for restaurant work? My dd had some at CFA that she was given there and she loved them.

How fun! You keep getting to ride this roller coaster over and over but how awesome!!

So we leave in a little over 24 hours. I’m a mess and there’s tons to do. I’m so excited for my dd though!!!

They are allowed to have other shoes- the brand just can't be super noticeable. She has a pair of Skechers Work Cozard. Safe travels!

Wishing you safe travels! Are you driving?
No, we live in CO so opted to fly! My dd will be stuck using busing. I feel kind of bad but we don’t really have a way to get a car to her so she’ll have to go with it. She seems fine. I’m the one worried 😂

And thank you!!
