Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Shopping and Merchandise: Savi’s, Droid Depot and More!

Bright suns! We're planning on visiting Batuu in the near future, and I fully plan on building a droid to carry around Black Spire. I'm torn on what to do about a backpack, however, because I need to bring some medical equipment and am planning on bringing my mirrorless camera with an extra lens. Would all of that fit in one of the Droid Depot backpacks, though?

EDIT: Also, could anyone give me the dimensions from the bottom of an R-series droid to the bottom of the head?
there's a thread below with people who are making their own backpack.
As far as what fits in the one they sell at DD, there's space but not much for bulkier things, a wallet/cellphone/ something flat would fit but there's not much space for anything else

For anyone still looking for info/confirmation on lightsaber shipping:
It's $18 ground (8 to 10 days) or $36 air (did not get details, since I did ground shipping). The delivery is made by USPS, and Disney will replace anything that's broken on arrival. They've had issues with USPS leaving things on doorsteps even if instructed not to, so if you have the option of shipping to your workplace or somewhere else with secure delivery you might want to do that. Also, I had kept the lightsaber after the build so I could get photos, and returned with it to the park about half a week later to ship it. I went to Dok Ondar's because I wanted to buy a hilt stand (regretted not getting it as part of the package at Savi's), and they were also able to arrange shipping for the lightsaber from there. I had my Savi's receipt with me, but they did not ask to see it. I was able to have the hilt stand shipped with the lightsaber at no additional expense.

Dok Ondar's was pretty busy every time I went in there, so if you aren't buying a specific item there you might save time by having your lightsaber shipped from a different shop. The First Order shop didn't seem like it got too crowded most of the time, but I don't know that I would have felt right handing my lightsaber over to the First Order!

I did the droid build at DW, and there was a definite advantage to NOT having a reservation. Maybe it was a fluke, but the line for people with reservations was long. I didn’t have a reservation and there was only one party in front of me in the standby line. They made a point of having two parties with reservations go ahead of me, but they let me go in front of everyone else. Based on my singular experience, I wouldn’t worry about not being able to make a reservation.
I had a reservation for 10:00 on Saturday, January 25, and I was actually pretty annoyed that they seemed to be taking the standby line at the same rate as the reservation line when the reservation line was actually a bit longer than standby--what on earth was the point of having a reservation?? I guess depending on the day you might end up with an advantage if standby gets very long, and it might be different in the evening, but in my experience it was not particularly helpful. On another morning later in my trip I dropped in at DD around 7:15 to look at accessories and there was no line at all on either side. Also, the conveyor belt and build stations didn't have crowding issues like they did during my build, so if anyone is going early to get a BG for RotR and not planning to RD Smuggler's Run, I'd highly recommend going in and building your droid first thing in the morning. That was also a great time to go to Oga's; I made a reservation for 8:30 on the fly that morning but showed up at 7:30 and got let in early (if I hadn't been solo, though, they might have made me wait).

100% glad I had a reservation for Savi's, though, zero question that it let me skip what would have been a very long wait.

Can anyone tell me the retail prices at WDW for these items?

1.) Salacious Crumb "shoulder muppet" (for lack of a better term)
470524

2.) Boxed set of 4 droid figures: C-3PO, R2-D2, BB-8, & R3X (DJ Rex)
470525

3.) C-3PO & R2-D2 2-pack of figures (from 2017... still available?)
470526

TIA!

Hey all,

I have just a few concerns regarding my lightsaber that I built at Savi’s (was in California though). I’ll be at DHS in March and I want to know if I should bother bringing my saber along if it needs to be replaced or something...

So, the appearance and durability of the saber seems fine but I’m just concerned mostly about it’s responsiveness and sound matching the movements made. Mine seemed louder when it was brand new but at home it seems a lot quieter than it should be (we even changed the batteries to fresh ones, just in case, but that didn’t change the loudness). Are they all just a bit on the quiet side? Also, when I strike the blade, it seems to need to be hit pretty hard to flicker and make the clashing sound... on top of that, there is a bit of a sound/action delay after I hit it... is that normal? Lastly, do the sabers not react with the “vvvvbt-vvvvbt” lightsaber woosh sounds when you swing the blade around?? Mine just seems to make random sounds when it is moved, either a “vvvvbt” or an odd little wobble sound. They aren’t timed to my swings or movement at all.

I just wanna be clear if the sabers are all like this or if mine should be brought back and asked to be replaced. It just seems a bit odd for it not to deliver the proper responsiveness as I’ve seen in other saber replicas, etc.

And as a side question... if I bring my saber on the trip, do they allow it to be carried or brought out around the parks if you are being responsible with it? Or are they super strict with when and where you bring it out?? You’d think if selfie sticks were banned, big hard sticks would be too... haha... I never really took mine out of it’s sheath in the park.

I booked a droid build for everyone in my party when I made our reservation in case everyone decided to do it. Now it looks like there will only be one or two of us. I wanted to go in and change the reservation to open it up for others who could fill those spots (still 4 months out) but I can only see how to cancel the whole thing. Is this something I need to call to change. Or if I cancel can I immediately rebook with the fewer number of slots?

I don’t know about replacement but you are welcome to carry it around. People take out their lightsabers for photos in BSO-East all the time, especially at night. When it’s dark many walk around with sabers (savi’s or others) lit up- it’s so awesome! Just don’t start any battles- a light tap once or posing as if for battle for a photo is fine, but no actual horseplay.

I believe selfie sticks are banned because of the potential for them to go flying on rides and because many guests would be rude and block people’s view during parades, shows, etc. People are rude enough without the sticks.

I think it's worth a call to Disney to see if they can bump your number of guests down so that you don't have to mess with it online....

I have a reservation for Savi’s workshop at Galaxys edge coming up. I know I need to provide the confirmation email when I check in but do I need the physical printed email or can I just show it on my phone? I ask because my printer is broken.

Does anybody have first-hand experience with their sabers to compare it to what I’ve mentioned above to see if that is just how the product itself is or if mine isn’t operating correctly?

My lightsaber behaves the way you described yours--it kind of makes sound in response to being swung around, but mostly it seems to just hum or make the sounds sort of randomly. I've only been able to get it to make the clashing sound once or twice; it doesn't seem to react to being tapped on things and I'm afraid to hit it against anything too hard. I'm not sure if that's normal or not, though, so I'm also interested in replies to your question here. From a youtube video I'd seen demonstrating the different kyber crystals it had seemed like it was meant to be more responsive.

Good to know I’m not alone with this... also does anybody else’s lightsaber sling bag also give off so much black balled up fuzzes??

Husband made a saber with a purple crystal and it is definitely slower than my red & the other colours I bought.

Yep, one of our two was all fuzzied up before we even got back to the resort that day. The other one not at all. It’s weird. I almost took the fuzzy one back that day, sort of wish I had.

I've found since I got it the only reliable way to make it make impact noises is to smack the butt on the handle with my palm as I swing.

Super excited about building our Droids in March. I haven't been able to locate links to look at the options for our body parts and extra accessories for the Droids. We want to have some ideas before we get there in case its a quick, high pressure situation in there! Does anyone have links to Droid building sites/blogs/etc?

WARNING... schedule availability for Savi's on the My Disney Experience app/website may not be accurate!
Just wanted to drop a PSA to let people know that the calendars that show open dates for Savi's in the future are not necessarily accurate and up to date. I wanted to book my fast passes at 60 days before securing a reservation and based on what I was seeing as an open calendar in the future I thought I was fine. That was a mistake. After nabbing some great fast passes, including MFSR!, I went to book the light saber experience on MDE. It kept giving me message that "something went wrong" with each time I submitted for the length of our trip. I eventually called customer service and learned that it was fully booked for the two HS days in our schedule. AAAAGGGHHH! The customer service rep was a real trooper and managed to find us a later day to get it done. It will change our plans significantly, but I was about crushed thinking we wouldn't be able to do it. Thankfully, we had some flexibility to make it work and the customer service agent was a gem, even transferred my just booked fast passes as "any time" passes to the new day. However, word to the wise... don't trust the Savi's calendar availability with times showing on the app/website for MDE. Book the reservation ahead if it is important to you and figure out the fast passes later.
