I'm just disgusted with more construction+higher ticket prices at the *same time*..... I do not understand WHY prices continue to rise steeply while lessening the overall experience? Am I the only one who feels this way? If I'm going to pay premium experience prices, I expect a fully developed premium experience! I know there's always some little thing to update or work on, but my last visits (for years now) have been marred by construction closures, walls, cranes and other things I have to actively avoid looking at... I don't even know how to get what I want really, but I'm still holding my breath for a year or two from now and seeing something closer to what I'm thinking. Ok I'll stop now. Old person rant over.

People keep going, the economy is great. It's great for people that haven't been to Disney before and have no idea what it used to be. I'm grateful my family experience a little of the magic when we did. But for us it's time to move on. We are going to Disneyland next week. We are going to Tokyo Disney in 2022. I don't know when we'll back back to WDW and I'm okay with that.

I hope that Disney doesn't lose the magic we experienced.

We flew home yesterday....Friday was definitely more crowded in the parks with the start of Presidents week and most schools in the north east off...not sure about other areas.
Glad you were able to get the fast passes....I was to grab a Space Mountain FP on Friday...
Idk about other Florida schools but our schools have school today because they’re using it as a make up day from Dorian

Looks like we are headed to Waikoloa for Christmas! Just purchased a 6 day/5 night Hilton Vacation Package for $699. I confirmed that there is no upcharge for the holidays or blackout dates. We can upgraded to a 2 bedroom for $300 more and that will include a rental car and parking. After the 2 hr preview, I’ll receive 75k points. Ok, Hilton Vacation Package purchased. It is $699 for 6 days/5 nights Waikoloa. I verified that there are no blackout dates or upcharge for the holidays. Our options are Kings’ Land, Kohala Suites, The Bay Club and Ocean Tower. Any thoughts on what we should book for those who have been? We could have done Honolulu but DH and I have been there so wanted to try some place different.
Was that a targeted offer? Or is that available publicly? I am starting to look at resort options for a Hawaii trip next January/February.

As has been mentioned the tough part is shelling out the taxes and fees on an award flight. On first class flights one is looking at about $1,000 RT, a bit less for business and still way too much for an award flight in coach.

Now, in addition to that, if someone newer to inernational travel and is connecting through London or pieced together award flights on different carriers they may well bite off more than they can chew if they didn't do a bit of research. Depending on arrival time and how many people are transferring at a given moment, taking the shuttle bus from terminal 3 to connect to terminal 5 can cost you a good 30 minutes or more. Then, if you didn't fly business or first and didn't get a fast track to go through customs, the line can be easily over an hour. Someone may not anticipate that after that line, depending on which country you are headed, there is another security line to go through. There are a number of variables that could easily make going through London tough. If London is the final destination, then obviously one doesn't have to anticipate those hurdles.

Sadly that $1k is quite a bit more when coming from the West Coast. I just looked at my upcoming first class trip from SFO to LHR and ONE WAY is $824. I think coming back it's even more. :( Oh well, I love BA first and jump on it when I can find it from SFO, which isn't often.

Re flight transfers, one time many years ago before I became a "registered traveler" to the UK (like Global entry that allowed me to skip the long lines), it once took me every minute of my 3+ hour transfer time to get through immigration and catch my connection to Edinburgh or Dublin (I can't remember where I was going). I literally had to run to the gate and leave my at the time late 60s year old mom to have them hold the plane to give her time to catch up. I'll never forget that. Leave plenty of time at Heathrow!!!

Ok - this is totally off topic but I need to vent...

sitting here watching the end of A New Hope and it’s always bugged me... WHY DOESN’T CHEWBACCA GET A MEDAL??? Do we not value the contributions of Wookiees???

(ok back to credit cards)...
You are showing your age. It's just called Star Wars or the original :) For those of us old enough to see it in the theaters when it came out, we don't call it New Hope!!! LOL!!!! I correct my kids all the time. I think he added that title about four years later.

We just stayed at the Doubletree by Universal so it was an onsite offer there. I asked several times about the no blackout, no surcharge for holidays also since I heard people were being charged $150 extra a night during Christmas. I purchased under my Platinum status so we could take advantage of those perks.

i am super excited! DS has been asking to go for awhile so I am glad I can make his requests a reality!

DH has been asking that question since he was a little kid. Have you seen any of the Star Wars Robot Chicken videos? They sort of address it there, in comical form, and I think it's Luke who reads his medal and says, "Mind just says 'Participant.'"

Yes, yes, yes! It's just "Star Wars" and it's so annoying that they went in years later and messed up all the titles. Guess I'm showing my age, too.

A little OT but I know I’ve seen Landry’s mentioned here before so I thought I’d ask about it here. My family would like to eat at T-Rex Café in May (DS8 is a big dinosaur buff!) I was able to get an ADR but for mid-afternoon. I think I’ve read that if you join Landry’s club, you can just show your card and get seated quickly. Is that right? I think joining costs $25, but comes with a $25 welcome gift/credit. Does anyone know how long the welcome gift is good for? I’d want to make sure to not get it too far in advance so it doesn’t expire. Also, has anyone tried using the card for Saltgrass Steakhouse? There’s a new one that just opened here in town, and I’ve eaten there twice already! I was thinking it might come in handy there too, but was curious if anyone had experience with that. TIA! :)

I was having a conversation with @iujen94 and she brought up an excellent point regarding these tiered SW bonuses as well as some of the matches being handed out.

The second tier of your Southwest Bonus (i.e. on the SW personal cards or the new SW Performance offer) will likely dictate when your 24 month clock resets to earn a future bonus on the same card (or any personal card due to the 1 SW card rule). So on the elevated SW personal offer, if you take the full 6 months to meet your 2nd tier MSR, your "24 months" could be Sept of 2022.

I am not 100% sure how the matching bonuses will work. BUT it is possible that when they award the match points that this could also reset that 24 month clock.

I'm NOT saying it's worth bypassing extra points today to be able to get the card sooner in the future. Any number of changes could occur in the next 24 months so I'd lean towards getting all the points possible today... BUT this is something you should track and be aware of.

We joined Landry's club for our trip last year and I was skeptical, but it was so worth it! We ate at T-Rex on a Saturday night during spring break with crazy crowds and we were seated almost immediately. I felt guilty with so many people waiting. But it was easy peasy. We didn't have a reservation at all and got seated really fast. I don't remember how long the credit was good for, because we actually waited too late to sign up and I didn't even have my physical card yet. I just gave them the number off my email, and it worked no problem. I also combined the $25 sign up credit with discounted gift cards that I bought at Sam's and had no hiccups at all. Everything was smooth and easy, so definitely recommend getting it!

Yes to both of your questions. It should get you to the front of the line at TRex, and it will work at Salt Grass too. If you are a card member it's been my experience that I get great customer service too. I don't know when the welcome gift expires, but I was able to use my welcome credit and my birthday credit at the same meal. That may be YMMV though.

Thank you! That sounds pretty awesome! I'll plan on signing up in early May then.

Another question please :goodvibes If a new Chase business card shows a due date of 4/8, when do you think the stmt end date would be? 21 or 22 days prior? If it's 21 days, that would mean 3/18/20. So, to meet MSR in the first period, I'd probably need to meet the spend by 3/11 or so? Eager to get my CP and get my May flight rebooked. Thanks!

Verizon customers--

Is there a workaround to pay with a cc when you are enrolled in a discount program (specifically, one through dh's company) and are on autopay? I'm getting a message that if I change the payment method, I'll lose the discounted price.

On my SW cards the close date is 3 days after the due date...
so your first statement may close 3/11
