Is there a workaround to pay with a cc when you are enrolled in a discount program (specifically, one through dh's company) and are on autopay? I'm getting a message that if I change the payment method, I'll lose the discounted price.
That stinks....We are enrolled in my DH’s company Verizon discount program but did not have to enroll in auto pay...

Another question please :goodvibes If a new Chase business card shows a due date of 4/8, when do you think the stmt end date would be? 21 or 22 days prior? If it's 21 days, that would mean 3/18/20. So, to meet MSR in the first period, I'd probably need to meet the spend by 3/11 or so? Eager to get my CP and get my May flight rebooked. Thanks!
DPs from 2 Chase Biz cards (not SW biz cards though):
Due March 10th, Closes Feb 16th
Due March 5th, Closes Feb 11th

So based on that info - if I saw April 8th, I'd assume March 14th as a statement closing date.

Thanks for the reply! I'm trying to stay away from business cards at this point. I know they typically have the highest rewards, but I'm still nervous about them, as I don't actually have any business expenses but I have sold on ebay so there is potential once I'm more comfortable with the "game".
Thanks for replying! I am planning to mostly stick with UR cards, as it seems those rewards can't be beat. Just trying to look to the future!
Dh just got the southwest card as my P2, so we are working on the spend for that (should take about 2 months). Then my next move is to apply for CSP. Once I meet that spend Dh will join as P2 and we will make that spend. Then I'm unsure which card we will go with after that. I was considering either the CFU or the Bonvoy boundless. Whichever I go with, hubby will follow suit as P2. So my "spend" is tied up for the next 6-8 months, probably as it is all our regular bills/spending.
I do not churn, but I have a set of cards I use to earn travel rewards. I agree that you should start with the CSP. I would get the CF and not the CFU next. The CF has the 5x rotating categories. I earn URs through three cards which I got in this order:
CSP 3/2016
CF 7/20216
CFU 7/19

DH had the CSP for one year on my referral and the CFU mentioned above is actually his. I may at some point get my own CFU on his referral. But I do not have immediate plans to do so.

I also have an AMEX for MRs(very old card) and the Discover IT (1/18) which earns cash back. I use that cash back to pay my CSP annual dues and other travel expense that I do not cover with points.

Remember you can go as fast or as slow as you want playing this game. I earn slowly, putting just about all of my household expenses on the 5 cards I use. It earns me enough for my travel needs for now. I love reading how others here churn and earn so much, but I do not have it in me to do that.

And most importantly, if you don't pay off the balance in full each month, it is not worth it to play this game. I pay my cards off weekly to avoid bills. It makes it feel as if I am using them as debit cards (almost).

The SW business cards are strange....just double checked and all my Chase business cards other than SW close 6 days after the due date

The two SW business cards we have close 3 days after the due date

URs transfer to Marriott 1000:1000. Transferring UR to Marriott is generally a BAD IDEA, except if you had a big stash of Marriott points already and you needed to "top off" that stash to make a redemption -- preferably for a 5 night stay to get one of those nights free and stretch the value of your redemption, or you knew you could get better than 1.5 cent per point value once your URs are Marriott points.

For a quick point of comparison, UR are worth 1.5 cpp with a CSR through the Chase travel portal, or 1.25 cpp with a CSP or CIP. Most people would peg the value of a Marriott point somewhere around 0.7 cent per point, maybe less with the upcoming category changes (i.e., devaluation).

As a real world example, Marriott recently announced that among the 1,600+ hotels increasing in category (therefore, points required per night) effective 3/4/20, the COURTYARD across from Disneyland will be jumping from Category 6 to 7. A Category 7 hotel requires 60k Marriott points/night on a standard night, 50k/night off peak and 70k/night peak! The average cost for a room even on a busy weekend like 4th of July is only $359. This means if you were to use 60k-70k Marriott points on a room at this hotel, your Marriott points are worth barely 0.5 cents per point! Or you can book the cash rate at a fixed 1.5 cents per UR point through the Chase travel portal for 24k UR/night on your CSR.

Now, if you were to transfer UR to Marriott, you'd transfer 60k-70k URs to book one night. What a terrible value! You could book the same room, same night through Chase with your URs for only 24k UR/night.
I’ve transferred MR’s to LifeMiles to book Marriott. I was able to book two nights at the Marriott in Copenhagen for 80,000 life miles vs 120,000 Marriott points. The hotel is 500.00 dollars per night. I don’t have UR’s right now so I couldn’t go that route.

You can buy Verizon GC at the Verizon stores.

You should be able to preserve your discount by paying with Verizon GCs bought using a cc. Bonus points for a cc during MSR or with a category bonus for US telecoms. Verizon’s website also sells GCs.

Thanks, everyone! I'll give the Verizon gc a try :)

Doing some research for our Amsterdam/Spain trip. Trying to make Amsterdam happen using AA miles.
AA: TUL --> AMS & MAD --> TUL, booking as RT web special for 34K miles.
Used google flights to find pricing for AMS--> BCN, can get $60 ticket through Vueling, anyone have experience with that airline?

Other options are CSA - for $100 & KLM for $125.

If you're talking SW Biz, then I confirm @palhockeymomof2 . They are a little different and follow the "3 day" rule just like personal cards. In fact, I'm not totally sure how I did it but my SW Biz Premier and my Priority card both close on the 7th with payment due dates of the 4th.
I'd guess your statement would close 3/11 so you'd want to hit spend earlier.

If you have an Ink it's more like 5-7 days different depending on where in the month it falls.

I’m sorry I’m so young guys. I’ll try harder to be old next time!! 🤣

Well, ok then, you do that. In the meantime, GET OFF MY LAWN! :rotfl:

DD and her friends took Vueling from BCN>Prague last spring break. She said they chose it because it was super cheap. Also said that the seats are teeny tiny and the least comfortable ones she has ever seen (and that the trays are tiny because there really is no room for them), but also said that it was a short flight, they are all young, and that they all said they would do it again. They didn't have any issues with the airline and the flights not being reliable. I hope this helps.

Yay, my "biz" made some money this year! Well I might be counting my chickens too soon since I'm still waiting for payment, but I finished my side of the transaction today.

2019 was a rough year for my reselling biz. I was mostly using a local flea market super close to the house but they closed down last year and I don't have a suitable replacement yet :( To top things off we kept getting ghosted on the consignment pieces we were trying to sell through online channels (Craigslist, Letgo, etc). That was stuff like furniture that's not worth transporting, but after wading through the scams and tire kickers to finally connecting with someone who sounds legit, they'd flake. (The one guy went so far as to say he was renting a uHaul and ready to meet, and then like 5 minutes of, backs out :sad2:)

So finally getting a buyer for my extra concert tickets is exciting! And best news?!?! I made a profit!! I'm trying not to spend all $20 in one place :rotfl:

Does anyone else not like the new pink they’re putting on the castle? I’m not really a fan of it. I’m just really hoping we can get a somewhat decent shot for my maternity pictures on 2/29-3/1

:teeth:
New look coming to Cinderella Castle at WDW. Thankfully it will NOT be a giant birthday cake 🤣

I loved the pink castle cake!!! It was just so cute!!!
DH has been asking that question since he was a little kid. Have you seen any of the Star Wars Robot Chicken videos? They sort of address it there, in comical form, and I think it's Luke who reads his medal and says, "Mind just says 'Participant.'"

Yes, yes, yes! It's just "Star Wars" and it's so annoying that they went in years later and messed up all the titles. Guess I'm showing my age, too.
This morning my kid was watching that and I asked him which one it was and he says “A New Hope” and I’m like but is that 4, 5, or 6 or the first one, you know the first one in theaters? He just looked at me and said “Star Wars“ like I was an old crazy lady. And I got it.:)

I can't tell you I really noticed the pink - is it possible that the shading in the picture just makes it look that way? It seems fairly subtle to me if they are changing the color. Mostly I've only seen the blue and gold mentioned in all the posts though. I only hear pink being mentioned by people complaining (or saying they like it). That's why I wonder if it was just the shading in the concept art and not necessarily a change...

EDIT: Now that you've pointed it out, the more I stare, the more I notice it, haha! I can't say I have an opinion on it...but I do see it now, lol!

EDIT2: I'm still wondering if it's just the a function of the angle of the shot. Looking at the base, the greens and just the shading in general seems like there's a "filter" of sorts on this mock picture. The angle of the sun too glistening off of things contributes a bit. I still wonder if the pink is real or just a function of the way they colored the pic...

Lol it was the first thing I noticed. I’ve always known the castle to be grey and blue so I thought the pink was strange. I don’t hate it but it’s not my favorite. If we can’t get any good pictures I guess it’s okay because I have some other spots picked out. Right now I’m struggling with shoes to wear because I have to wear insoles now lol
