The Skyliner is a game changer! :-)

If you're staying at POP, AOA, CBR, or the Riviera you have access to the BEST travel option currently available at WDW. My wife and I just got back from a stay at CBR (in Pirate room in Trinidad area) and used the Skyliner extensively and found it to be convenient, fast, and fun. During our 4 days/nights at WDW we only stopped one time for less than 30 seconds. The ease of access/use from Trinidad, Jamaica, and Barbados areas makes those far off areas newly popular. We got on the SL to PoP for a bus to Disney Springs...…..it was easy peasy :P. Dinner last night a Topolino's Terrace was a breeze to get to...….no long walk or Uber needed, just popped on the SL and we were at the Riviera in time for a drink at the bar.

My only concern is the new mode of transportation may...…...probably will come with a commensurate increase in resort room prices (which is slowly occurring). Improved access leads to increase in price...…..but my warning is PoP, AoA, and CBR are still value and moderate resorts with rooms that meet that criteria. Actually CBR is only a moderate because of the restaurant on site...…...IMHO. From a room perspective......tell me the difference between CBR and PoP (I know AoA has the suites).

But I digress...……..the issue here is the Skyliner and its awesome!!! The views are amazing...…...its another ride, like many consider the monorail. This trip didn't include a visit to AK and we visited the MK via the monorail at Epcot so......we never really used the bus. Well we did one time...…...coming home from the MK. Used a nice little trick at the MK bus station too...………….I'm holding that one to myself......DISer's should know what the trick is 8-). BTW sssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh…...let's be cool on that one :)

My Skyliner grade...…...easy A.

That was mean...……..

We left the MK right after the fireworks on Sunday night. It was a very busy MK too. Instead of walking all the way down to stall 18 to get in line for CBR, we stopped at stall 11 and got on the Riviera bus. The RR bus was much....MUCH less crowded and only had 1 stop. When we got off we took a short walk to the Skyliner and the 2 min flight to the CBR station. Short walk to Trinidad...…...and your home!!! :P

And the hot tub and slide at the main pool.
Hot tub being my main draw. :)

CBR rooms are 340 sq feet with double sinks in the washroom, while Pop’s rooms are 260 sq feet with just a single washroom sink. A significant difference for some.

You are correct...…….I must say the rooms at CBR seemed on the POP size...…...but that was a feel. Its best to be accurate. :-)

Thanks,

Re the bold:
CBR room is bigger. I may not be by much but it felt like a HUGE difference. When I was in Pop, and this was before the bed change, I couldn't even get in the door with the stroller unfolded. The door hit the bed and wouldn't open all the way. I joke that had to go outside to change my mind, LOL. If you have both queen beds down now I can't imagine how it can work.

I do wonder, did you encounter any lines? We were at Disney over MLK and rode the skyliner from HS to CBR to change, planning to go to Epcot (my friend with me wanted to ride so we did that instead of walking) but the line to get on the Epcot line was so long, it filled the queue and went down the sidewalk out of sight. No, it hadn't broken down, it was running, just a huge back up mid day. So we punted our plans to walk through Epcot to grab a monorail back to GF and just walked over and grabbed an Uber instead.

great idea. we are staying at POP and might try this option.

Totally agree. We went into our vacation thinking we would try the Skyliner at least once since we were staying at POP. DH is not good with heights so he was really skeptical about his ability to ride. After a trip or two he figured out how to ride through his fear because it was so incredibly convenient. We went in January so it wasn't crazy warm and the cool breeze that came through the cabin was fantastic!

We did a split stay and stayed at The Poly the second half of our trip. I love me the monorail, don't get me wrong, but we actually felt a little spoiled from our time with the Skyliner. We chose POP as a nice add on to our DVC stay, and chose there for financial reasons. We will absolutely make it a point to get back to one of the Skyliner resorts in our future trips. We honestly loved it.

The longest wait we ever had to get on was after Epcot closing. It was 20 minutes of a constantly moving line so it did not feel like 20 minutes at all. The most we ever had in a gondola was 6, even during busy times. I was really skeptical about the Skyliner, and even more so when they decreased the buses at the resorts, but I have to say I am completely on board with it now and desperately miss gliding over property!

this is good to hear. I'll be staying at RIV in April and looking forward to using the skyliner during our stay

While I'd never choose CBR over POR for a mod. I have to say I am jealous CBR has the Skyliner. It is quick and fun. We rode it from HS to CBR for our ADR at Sebastians and loved it. We'll, ya know I might consider CBR after all.

Same here-in 26 Flights our longest wait was 15 minutes for the Epcot Line at CBR Station one day and agree that since the line constantly moves the time goes by quickly.

All other Flight waits were under 5 minutes or walk-ons.

Disney Skyliner and Rise of the Resistance are HISTORICAL,EPIC additions to the Walt Disney World Resort.

It's just a shame that you can't use the Skyliner to get to the park in time to ride Rise. And to get to Epcot for an early breakfast.

And honestly, as much as I enjoyed the breeze, I'm not riding it in the summer.

Other than that, we loved it.

To be honest we waited less than 2 or 3 minutes most of the time otherwise it was walk on. The only real line was leaving Epcot after the fireworks.....which lasted less than 10 minutes. We watched from the bridge between England and France so we were out the door pretty quickly. We did hear talk of a breakdown during the day.........but it never impacted us.

we stayed at pop because of skyliner access. it was closed one day of our trip due to high winds and my wife/son/mom were stuck on it once heading back to hotel from ep one night but other than that it was great. i hope they make expanding the system a priority before our next trip. it would be really nice to be able to use it to get to/between all four parks and more hotels.

We did experience a huge line one day during our trip in late January. Going back to Riviera from HS, the line at CBR station took at least 10 mins, potentially longer, timed it but don’t remember exactly. I even mentioned to my wife we could have just walked and enjoyed the views

Yeah, until they fix the operating hours it seems more like a novelty than a real method of park transportation. We always rope drop or do PPO breakfasts.

We think the Skyliner is the BEST thing in all of Disney World. Stayed at RR and BCV and the skyliner was fabulous. We ended up riding and riding just to ride. (visited CBR, Pop and Animation of course)

Hmmmm....trying to figure out your MK bus station tip. Been going since Poly literally opened and can't figure out what you're talking about. Understand if you want it to be a 'secret'.

The trick is/was.....we were staying at CBR and just finished Happily Ever After at MK........so the masses headed for the exits as expected. Our bus for CBR was at the very back of the stalls (#18). As we reach our line we notice that the Riviera bus was in stall #11.....it was there and not crowded by a long shot. The CBR bus would be packed so we instead jumped on the RR bus.........waved to those waiting for the CBR bus and arrived at RR in time to take the Skyliner to CBR which was then a short walk to Trinidad! Easy Peasy!!!! 8-) Really not a big trick...….but effective.
