If DCL cancels....

If a cruise is cancelled, how do they notify passengers? Will it just be an email? Will the account be flagged? What happens?

We are on our way and I'm not sure how much I should be stalking my email as we drive (trying to avoid roaming charges if I can).

They will try to reach you via a phone number that you've provided, or an email. Possibly at a resort, if you booked one for prior to the cruise through the cruise line.

When our Magic cruise was cancelled (after the re-imagineering), the only notification we got from DCL was an e-mail. They had all our contact info but we did not receive any other form of communication. Plus it was posted on their website - which is actually how we found out and then I went to check my e-mail.

We only got an email when our cruise was cancelled for Hurricane Matthew (while we were at the airport ready to fly to Florida).

I book through a TA, so they always direct communication right to them. The one exception was when I got a free upgrade, they actually called me.

When I was on the Magic years ago that got cancelled, DISboards is where I heard of it first. It was much later before I heard from my TA or Disney.

Seems like things are still a go. strange days, these are. The kids' schools have all been closed until April 6. Essentially, we have a 3 week spring break.

Just read this by The Disney Co.
They further noted, "Disney Cruise Line will suspend all new departures beginning Saturday, March 14, through the end of the month. The Walt Disney Company will pay its cast members during that closure period. The hotels at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris will remain open until further notice. The retail and dining complexes, Disney Springs at Walt Disney World and Disney Village at Disneyland Paris, will remain open. Domestic Walt Disney Company employees who are able to work from home are being asked to do so, including those at The Walt Disney Studios, Walt Disney Television, ESPN, Direct-to-Consumer, and Parks, Experiences and Products. We will continue to stay in close contact with appropriate officials and health experts."

Yep all over the place. 2 weeks for dcl and WDW. Universal will probably be next

So what happens now? I can't get through to DCL or Costco (TA). If I fill out their cancel form, I'll be stuck with only the credit. But I don't want to travel any further if there's nothing to do. Also, I don't want my other family members getting on a flight tomorrow if it's a no-go.
