I pick Portland, I heard thats the hippie capitol of the world and I want to be a hippie. And I dont think the cost of living would be that high

Of all the places I've ever been, the only one that had me wistful was Monterey, CA. I loved everything about it and could picture myself living there. It's just a day-dream though - I'd never move to another country. Nor would I really want to live in any other part of this country. Dumb as this answer is, if I couldn't live right here, I'd just move to somewhere near here.

I suspect I'd survive. There's no US city I've a true interest in living in besides my current residence and somehow the criminals don't faze me much here either. Being street smart goes a long way.

Wow! The thread is new and someone already stole my spot? Anywhere on the Oregon coast is my choice. Probably close to the sand dunes. I have vacationed twice in Oregon and love it! Maybe Depoe Bay? Anyplace on the coast, but I still need to be able to drive to Crater Lake National Park (Heaven on earth for anyone that’s ever had the pleasure of going) for the weekend...

You picked right! I’ve tried ATL, Raleigh and KC and they all had their perks, but I hope I get to live in PDX forever It’s so beautiful

I’ve lived in CA, CT, MA, NJ, PA and SC and although I have my preference (SC), I really think I could be happy anywhere as long as it was in the USA! Oh, and as long as I had the love of my life with me!

As long as you don’t wear expensive wrist watches and jewelry you can be ok. Otherwise the place is full of pick pockets and thieves. You don’t know till you know. Do a search.
