Fake News...
Okay ................. believe what you want.
Fake News...
My guess is that it's simply in response to the photos of a packed full Main Street on the last night at WDW that prompted this particular thread, just as they prompted a whole mess of responses on Facebook & Twitter. If similar pictures had been posted of the other parks then people would be discussing those. Why are you just blaming wdw and not universal and sea world etc?
They should have stayed open.If any part of WDW or Disneyland is open, people will be there, in droves.
Pics of Disney Springs with crowds of people is the exact opposite of what we've been told to do, yet.....
I get it. People don't listen and think they are not affected and being "safe" and making adult decisions for themselves.
But.....come ON. This is not a drill. This is a real crisis.
I seriously can't believe Disney stayed open. I also can't believe they didn't shut down resorts sooner than they are.
I'm cranky and stressed over all of this like everyone else. I think Disney had an opportunity to be a leader and proactive about this. Folks are crazy for Cocoa Puff NUTS about Disney and show up no matter what. They know this. So why? Money? Seriously?
Rant over. Carry on. Be safe.
They should have stayed open.
I would dare say it's easier to close the schools than to close such a large resort. "Get people out of the hotels ASAP"? Where are they supposed to go? Could they all get flights (those that need them obviously) easily? Or get them out of the hotels and they could just go crash at MCO for a couple of days? Yea, that sounds like that would help control the virus.Disney knew all the risks, ramifications and factors at the time they made their decision.
They chose to close Disneyland the next day but let WDW go for 3 days and Disney Springs and hotels even longer. That was a decision they made for financial and convenience considerations for WDW customers versus what virologist experts and politicians were saying.
The right thing, from a stop the spread of an unknown virus and safety, was to close all parks and Disney Springs last Friday or even sooner. And work to get people out of their hotels ASAP. Disney did not do that, they opted to make a few more dollars and make the closure at WDW a bit more palatable to their customers. Only time will tell what that decision (made over days of meetings with Senior Staff, virologists, lawyers and the board) will mean.
For those in defense all of things Disney, my kids elementary school was shut down before Disney. Last day was last Thursday. The local Superintendent made the decision he said as an overabundance of caution and safety for everyone and because of what the CDC, state of KY and Federal government were telling him.
Should Disney have made a decision based on an overabundance of caution or convenience or both. Everyone has their own opinion. And again only time will tell more about what was the right thing to do.
... and schedules and finances and all that are secondary to saving lives.

As far as schools... last day was last Thursday? Most Ky schools had their last day on Friday. Your Superintendent wasn't that far ahead of the curve.
You said "work to get people out of the hotels ASAP". So where would the people go? Oh, they can stay in the hotels until flight arrangements are made? Isn't that what was being done?Again Disney could of made a decision based on convenience or an abundance of caution and safety of mankind. They closed Disneyland in one day but not WDW or even Disney Springs, knowing they have worldwide travelers. Who by the way could of stayed at their hotels until they got flights out.
Travelers spread out in MCO was not anyone's suggestion, I guess yours but your alone. Quarantining in your hotel until you could leave or not traveling at all that late in the week was what most responsible people chose to do.
In regards to MY kids school no need to infer I am a liar. Friday the 13th was a scheduled in service day off. If it wasn't they would not have gone that day either per the Principal. Again a school superintendent and the Governor of KY chose to put people's health and safety first during a time we are all dealing with an unknown virus, and Disney didn't, at least WDW didn't or they would of shut down Friday like Disneyland or sooner.
Are you in Boone county?Disney knew all the risks, ramifications and factors at the time they made their decision.
