Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

HI everyone just changed from CBR to POFQ, very excited we have never stayed POFQ bc it was always excluded from discounts before.
Had a couple questions.

1) Are there coke freestyle machines near the pool or in any of the buildings like CBR or are the drink machines only in the food court? Do the machines have any powerade options?

2) Is POFQ the first stop for the buses going to the parks? Does it normally share with POR? WE have trips booked late Aug and mid Dec.

3) Am I reading it right that all the buildings have elevators? I will be on a scooter and have a river view booked so needed to know if I need to request first floor..

Thanks for your help!
The food court is the only place with the freestyle machines but it is pretty close to the pool. Almost positive they had Powerade as an option.
The sharing of the buses has gotten less with each of our visits. If you are on a very early AM bus (7:00am or so) they usually stop at POR . We also have had buses ( especially during morning rush hour) which would stop at the main POR Depot then go off to the park.
Don't forget to take advantage of the boat to Disney Springs. You can use a scooter on the boat.

Does the pool get crowded mid afternoon since there is only one? Do they do the loud music and games there too? (Kinda hoping not lol)

Crowds can be hit or miss in our experience. We go in November or October FWIW.
They do have the music & games but as long as you are right next to the CM it isn't loud. Nothing like it was when they started years ago. Back then even wearing headphones listening to music you could still hear the CM.

I actually wish they hadnt started it at all, we stayed at Poly several times and being at the pool listening to the Hawaiian music was so relaxing then came DIsney Radio lol Since when is the pool not enough to keep kids entertained lol

We have a river view room it's all they had available with the sun and fun discount I would have rather gotten king bed but does anyone have a preference with river view at POFQ?

We always chose River view 😊. We request upper floor, top if available and building 2. It’s a lovely serene setting after the madness of the parks, steps away from the pool and the boat dock to DS.
Everything at FQ is just a short hop from the Main building. food court and the bus stop. River view is ideally located for a stroll over to POR as well - or a carriage ride along the River.

We have stayed in all the buildings with River view & on all floors. If walking up to POR is part of the plan, 5,6 or 7 are the closest. Building 2 & 5 are the most central ( on either side of the pool). Some people notice the sound of the boat horn but they don't bother us. The boats don't start until 10:00 am & stop before midnight. If you think it might bother you request 1,6 or 7 .

Going on a mother/daughter trip October 10-17. This will be my 7th time staying here. I love this resort and hoping that they open up and everything goes okay with opening so we won't miss this trip!

I rebooked my April trip to the end of June and moved to POFQ from POP. Wishful thinking, I know. This will also be my first stay at POFQ. June is questionable now. I hope they extend the offers out into next year if we get cancelled again.

Thank you! We haven't done one for two years. You should try it. I don't know how old you daughter is but mine is an adult and we always have a great time!

So I am in the midst of planning our late September 2021 adult Disney trip! I had picked out Pop Century but soon to be husband nixed that. A colleague of his has stayed at both Port Orleans properties and now we're on that train.

I was leaning towards Alligator Bayou on Riverside section because of how secluded it is but apparently there's an upcharge there since it sleeps 5.

We're maybe considering French Quarter because it's smaller and I like the one bus stop thing. Someone tell me great things about FQ maybe some good room locations we could request.

Thanks!

My wife and I did an adults only trip our past couple of times, stayed the Swan in 2018 and FQ this past February - loved FQ. Resort is the smallest of all WDW properties. Our TA suggested a King room in building 5 with a river view, we got it and LOVED it. Very quiet, even had a member of another group we're on who stayed next to us and was concerned her kids were noisy - our reply? What kids? None of the rooms are far from the bus stop at all. Breakfasts were fine and the Mickey Beignets were great and a big plus. I did grab lunch one day, got the Jambalaya and was not impressed. But FQ is only a boat ride away to Disney Springs and a host of restaurants. You can also stroll up to Riverside if you want, we did so we could take a carriage ride. I'd stay there in a heartbeat. If the prices of the Swan were on par I'd opt for that, personally just because of location.

A few great things about POFQ. The size of the resort makes everything close compared to the other Moderate resorts. You can walk up to POR to eat at their QS or TS restaurant if you want or have a beverage at their pool bar & lounge . Plus you are allowed to use their pools.
As a PP has said the boat ride to DS gives you a great variety of restaurants (both QS & TS) . On the occasion s POFQ & POR share a bus , POFQ is almost always the first pickup. I will say the sharing of buses to the Parks (& now the boats to DS) has gone down since our first visit in 1998.
As for what building (all have elevators)to request it depends on what category you book. Only King & Garden view are in all 7 buildings. Building 4 is considered by many the most central . Strangely it is the one we have never been . We have been booking River on most of our visits and building 3 & 4 don't have River views. If you want to walk up to POR request 4, 5,6, or 7, they are on that side of the resort. A great source of info is www.portorleans.org

Me too! I want to be in The World for MK's 50th so planning late Sept/early Oct stay at French Quarter. It'll be stay number 5 there. You'll love it!

Have stayed in Standard, Garden and River view rooms. Garden in Bld 1, floor 3 facing the fountain. Terrific! Then once on Bld 1 facing the parking lot - didn't like it much. Twive in River View Bld. 6. Really LOVE that building and view. The walk to Riverside was pleasant and didn't feel long because there was a lot to see on the river. And a very easy walk from the bus stop and the to the food court. Stopped at Scat Cat's almost every night after a perk day for a drink. Wonderful!
