Will this complex replace all 3 of the current CP housings?

Looks like it is going to be a really nice complex for the amazing, fun and dedicated CPers. :)

Since this is a question about CP housing, I’ll move it to the College board.

Eventually, yes, but not immediately. It sounds like the four current apartment complexes at WDW will likely continue to host Program students, especially International Program (ICP/CRP/CEP) students for a few more years. During Spring 2020, participants were invited to attend an interest meeting for Flamingo Crossings, where some of us on the Advantage Program would be eligible to move from our current apartment complex to FC when it was scheduled to open in May. Those of us who were interested were told that the current CP bus system wouldn't be bringing every bus to FC, so we would need to either a) work at Magic Kingdom, or b) have our own transportation if we wanted to make the move to FC the middle of our Program. With no regular bus service to FC for the forseeable future, it sounds like there's gonna be a long trial-and-error adjustment period before all CPs can move to Flamingo Crossings, if that's the end goal.

The apartments are really nice! For the first time, we'll have in-unit Smart TVs, queen-sized beds, and an electronic key system. Very exciting things happening here.

How much more will these units be? Will the CP's be able to afford them and live? Or will they be very affordable?

My dd was in the spring advantage program and was hoping to get to move to FC in May. Her cost at Vista was about $111 a week and iirc, the least expensive option for FC was like $165 a week so a pretty hefty jump. My dd and her roomie were willing to spend the extra because 1) Vista Way was just a dump and they desperately wanted out lol, 2) FC just looks so amazing and they felt it would be worth it and 3) they honestly weren't spending that much of their paycheck. They were primarily eating at home and not in the parks and neither one was spending much on merch (well, not until they got told they were heading home and then my dd spent like $200 in 2 hours lol!). So, while it was going to be an extra $200 a month or so, they had the money and were excited to experience FC.

How sad that your dd was THAT close to being among the first to ever live at FC!

It sounds like the LEGENDARY Vista Way is ready to be retired and left for the CP History books!lol

Do you think your dd will try to go back for another CP whenever circumstances allow?

I know! Such a bummer. She definitely plans to apply for Spring 2021. It had taken her three tries to get accepted and then she only got to be there for 43 days so she feels she really didn't get to complete a program. She was supposed to be there until Aug 6. Hopefully, all the CP's who got sent home and those who were cancelled get a chance to go back!

As of now I don't believe that is what they are going for since a lot of housing complexes just got renovated. I do think they plan on extending more buildings in Flamingo and moving all CPs out there because Vista Way I know doesn't have a lot longer to live unfortunately (i love vista so much)! For now it is only open to CPs who are working at Magic Kingdom and nowhere else since it is right near cast connections and the cast parking lot for MK. It would take a long time to get someone who lives in Flamingo to Springs or even DAK so idk how they plan on doing that! Being at Vista was amazing and i got a newly renovated apartment and it was really nice! It had flaws but i loved it and I was so close to Springs and I worked in DHS so it took me legit 10 minutes (if even) to get to work! I think it will be a real inconvenience to move everyone so far away from everything!

My DD was also a CP who was hoping to move to Flamingo Crossings, it was her understanding that only CPs that had cars would be able to live there because there wasn't any transportation available. She extended & would've went home in late July. She's also planning on going back if asked back. I really hope they announce something soon!

My dd also toured FC before she left, she was a MK CP without a car but she was eligible - apparently there is a bus to MK only?

She was weighing the amenities vs the cost especially as she was happy at Chatham and could elect to stay.... if only :) Her 1st program should have ended 5/21 but she was extended until late August before the clsoings.

I do hope they give the CP who were cut short a chance to go back!

Yes, the CP's who didn't have a car but were at MK were eligible as well (same for my dd as for yours - no car but MK role). I'm not optimistic they are going to call our girls back but hoping for some sort of priority for Spring 2021 or whenever they could return. It's just the right thing for Disney to do and the recruiters hinted at it so fingers crossed!

This issue with my DD is the timing as she graduated last June and has already applied (and been accepted) twice! The first time she ended up not able to go because of class scheduling; the second time she was accepted, went and then extended and got sent home early.

Luckily she made a couple contacts in her field of study before she left so she can also look into a PI if CP is no longer an option.

Best to all the CP's in the future!

There was some chatter about the restrictions on having to be a recent grad being lifted. Not sure if that would just be for the kids sent home and the cancelled programs or for all applicants. I hope not for all or Disney will have opened the floodgates!

For sure!

The first time I went to WDW I remember noticing all the young people working there and then started noticing the names of different colleges on their nametags and eventually learned they were part of the Disney College Program.

The CPs snd ICPs have become a HUGE part of the Magic at WDW for us.

Their youth brings so much energy, excitement and just plain FUN to the Resort!

And almost without exception, they are TREMENDOUS,CONSCEINTIOUS,HARD-WORKING Cast Members!

To us,WDW without CPs and ICPs would be like WDW without Cinderella Castle or Space Mountain! :)
