International travel restrictions

We were going took a trip for next Feb, we will wait to see what is going on. Whatever we do, we will be buying travel insurance!

Still holding onto a thread that we may be able to take our Aug trip!
Me too! Our offsite condo is fully refundable as long as we cancel by mid July so I would hope by then we have answers! Otherwise if it’s still iffy with a 14 day quarantine and such by then we will have to cancel so we don’t lose that money.

Yes, we’ll have to see what things look like by mid July. A 14 day quarantine won’t work for my daughter if she’s back to work. Hopefully there will be testing by then. Things are changing all the time. We have a WDW room only booked so not worried about loosing money on that.

We have an aug 30 trip planned for a week. We are driving so not concerned about flying but we have booked a DVC room with David’s which we can’t cancel. The only thing that will save us is if the travel advisory stays the way it is or the border remains closed we can claim on our cancelation insurance.

We're in the same boat. I could have written this post word for word. I'm just waiting with baited breath. Hopefully things will be clearer by the fall.
Also in the same boat trip booked thru David’s Aug 30 arrival. First time and last because of this.

looks like West Jet extended their international travel ban to June 25 if I am reading their latest update correctly? Or maybe it just means less flights in that time?

Yes that's true. Just saw it on line. Went to their website, first flight I could book from YVR to MCO is end of June, first flight from YVR to Puerto Vallarta was July 3 or 4.

I think those flight dates are a pretty good indication of our borders staying closed until at least the end of June . I’m positive the airlines get advance notice of those decisions so they can adjust and plan.

I think that All Theme Parks in Florida will be closed till September .

Think about it , If somebody gets the Virus & makes a claim that they

contacted it at Disney ... all Hell would break loose .

I realize this is true for everyone, but man. It’s really going to come to the wire with knowing if we will get to go on our August trip or not
I know, we are Aug 22-29, but I can't wait forever to cancel...will probably cancel after the next border announcement.

I have a very hard time believing we’ll be into whatever phase relates to international or trans border travel in 6 weeks or less as much as part of me would love that be the case. Much like the resorts taking reservations after July 1st, it doesn’t mean they’ll be ready or able to open on that date. It could just be a place holder. I attempted to (re)book my current package on Expedia (with AC) to see if prices had dropped and it would cost over $1900 to use AC over WS. I have no idea what AC is doing and I doubt AC does either lol. There are still approximately 6 non-stop flights between YVR to LAX in August but I doubt there will be capacity for that volume.

Willing to put a wager on that? WDW parks will be partially opened by first week of June.
At some point they will NEED to open. They are going to have to do it as safely as they can, and restrictions are going to be in place. Our lives before the virus landed in North America is no longer here. People are upset because of the changes and restrictions that might be in place for them to safely open. They just want the parks to open and have the experience be the same it was previous to the virus. That WON"T happen...period! People are up in arms about changes that the parks may need in order to open. And if people want to experience the parks the way they were previously, they will just have to wait and see how this whole virus and our lives proceed in the coming months.

But I think you are right. They will open sooner rather than later. At some point, they will need to open. They will do it slowly and as safely as they can to hopefully stop it from spreading. It is known that it is a highly communicable illness where there are large groups of people. Also, those who go into a park now, do so knowing this!!!! So that puts responsibility back on the ticket holder. They know the risk, if they walk into a park.

The current border closure with the US is set to expire next Thursday (May 21st)

We will know then if they ease it, extend it or terminate it.
