Way Out Here, Eh? - A June 2019 TR *PTR Link Posted

I'm (unsurprisingly) late. Reading about Disney with the parks closed is bittersweet at best.

Landon was hooked. Throughout the meal, he’d ask us, “Do you need any more water, let me ask Bob. Need more bread? I got this.”

Bob made Landon feel like a grown up, and to this day he still remembers the name of the CM who paid attention to him.

How cute! That's such a nice, little touch.

When Chip arrived for his meet, he noticed Landon’s Star Wars shirt and began using the force on the kids. This led to an entire battle in which the kids won with their superior Jedi powers.

Adorable!

It sounds like a really nice Epcot evening with your Mom.

We're trying to figure out our game plan for our next Disney trip, because we want to be just the five of us, but we also want to include grandparents. We haven't quite got it settled yet, but the most exciting (and least affordable) option involves getting APs and taking a bunch of trips in a year with each set of family. Incredibly unlikely, but a girl can dream, right?

I've yet to ride Frozen EA. Maybe we'll be able to catch it on our (hopefully) rebooked trip in Sept. I think the shutdown has made a lot of us dream about future travel. I ordered a guide book and am planning a trip to Great Britain next year

Here's to hoping September is still a go! Travel is such an unknown right now...
If you have any questions about G.B. I'll do my best to try and answer. It's making me crazy living in a new place and being unable to explore it! I'm keeping my fingers crossed we can travel back to Scotland by Thanksgiving.

This is so great, an example of the Disney Magic. Is Garden Grill now his favorite restaurant?

I'm not sure what Landon's favorite Disney restaurant is. He talks about favorite attractions, but I think food is low on his priority list. :confused3

Turtle is something for just every other trip of so for us. I sure Landon would have had everyone laughing if had been given the chance.

It's a cute show, but I can see how it's a every once in awhile visit. I'm sure you will be visiting it a few more times, though, as JP gets a little older. It's right up a kid's alley.

Aw what a fabulous last day with your mum. I really hope you get that mother daughter trip. The kids and Bob were absolute stars🌟
I long for the day when we can travel again 😔

Bob was amazing and so patient with the kids. I hope he's there again if/when we ever go back to Garden Grill.
It's hard to believe it's almost summertime and I have no trips planned. There's a part of me that's really sad I'm wasting my precious time in England at home, but I also completely understand why and am not upset about trying to keep the NHS from being overwhelmed. Just staying hopeful that there will be a "new normal" in sight, one that involves being able to go out and about.

I do love walking around WS, how fun to count of countries you have been to!
I have been to all of them except Morocco, Japan, and China, oh and the Africa outpost, never been there!
I was super fortunate to travel to many places in the world when I was younger, loved it!

That's incredible! I'm very impressed. How was Norway? Where, specifically, did you visit? That's the country I'm itching to go to first once we can travel again.

So much fun! We’re finally hitting Garden Grill on our next trip. Hope our visit is half as special as yours.

Hopefully so! I know if you get Bob as a server, it certainly will be. And the character interaction there is top notch. They give each table a lot of time and attention. It's probably my favorite character dining location on property.

I'm glad Evie redeemed herself at Garden Grill! We love it there! I'm sorry that it was a tough night saying goodbye to your mom. I'm glad you made such great memories so far on the trip, but so hard to say goodbye!

Evie would have never lived it down had she had another meltdown at Garden Grill! :rotfl2:
With no DWDW trip in sight now, I'm extra grateful I got this time with my mom in the parks.

I’m late to everything but almost a year is horrible even by my very pathetic standards. I have no idea how I was so clueless this was going on but hopefully you can tell from the 999 likes you got I powered through the whole thing.

Welcome aboard and thanks for joining! I'm impressed you got through all my long-winded ramblings. I can't write a short update to save my life! :rotfl:

Loving the report and your family. Takes me back to remember what it was like to do Disney with little ones. In turn they reminded me why I drink. Speaking of which so happy you all got some adult only time!

I'm not saying there's any correlation between when I started drinking and when I had kids, but....:rotfl:

Alex and I love taking the kids to Disney, but man were we happy to be back just the two of us. It's a completely different experience.

I've been anxiously waiting to hear about this!

If Evie had freaked out again, she would never have heard the end of it! It would have followed her around from Disney vacation to Disney vacation for years!

Sounds like a perfect meal at Garden Grill! I'm glad Evie redeemed herself and that Landon was made to feel so special!

I'm sure it was tough saying goodbye to your mom after such an amazing time with her!!

This was Alex's first time at Garden Grill, so it really made a great impression on him. I don't think he'd hesitate to get a reservation there again.

Love your pictures of pandora and the safari...I love AK as well!

Aaw what a treat to have such a lovely server for your meal at garden grill 👍🏻

There's so many beautiful spots to stop and enjoy inside Animal Kingdom. It's an incredible park!

Awww, such a sweet dinner at GG! That kind of service is so rare nowadays. Obviously Bob found his calling!

I actually like Crush myself. It's fun (and sometimes funny) to watch the little ones come up with some real doozies! LOL!

:( Knowing a trip is about to end is the WORST!!!

I think I'd have enjoyed Crush a lot more if the fear of my kid being called on wasn't there. I just never know what Landon is going to say. Keeps me on my toes.

I'm (unsurprisingly) late. Reading about Disney with the parks closed is bittersweet at best.

It's a struggle for me to concentrate on Disney, as well. This is probably the first time in weeks that I've been on the boards.

The AP plan sounds like the best. In defense of it, if you got APs you wouldn't feel bad about having the grandparents along on one of the trips, because you'd have other opportunities for just the five of you all.

Looks like I cannot help the kids with virtual learning and DISboards at the same time. :rotfl: Fortunately, we only have 4 more weeks until summer. We're gonna get through it! And then I'm gonna finish this report come heck or high water...

June 11, 2019

Ready for the shortest update you’ve ever seen from me? I’m not really known for my brief recapping abilities, but for this day of the trip I had absolutely nothing to contribute.

Nada. Nilch. Zero. A big fat goose egg.
:confused3

You see, sometime around four in the morning, my week of poor eating and terrible hydration caught up with me and I became sick. There’s nothing I hate more in the world than feeling nauseous, and I was pretty upset that I hadn’t listened to my body, and I put myself in that situation.

To this day, I’m not sure if I allowed myself to succumb to heat exhaustion or if it was a food factor. The iced coffee I bought at the Joffrey’s stand tasted a little off, so it could have been milk left out too long. Or I ate way too much at Garden Grill, or my body was rejecting the meat and dairy I had suddenly started eating again. For close to three months prior to the trip I had followed a loose plant-based diet, and I completely threw that lifestyle out the window once I got to Disney. Probably not the smartest idea, and I paid dearly for it.

Regardless of the cause, I spent the early morning hours feeling pretty puny. For a gal who hates being sick, I found it quite ironic that the last time this happened I was in my room at Pop Century in 2016, blessed with the hateful stomach bug. I sincerely hope this a tradition that stops!

The good news was that this was slated to be a non-park day for my family. We were supposed to spend the day with Alex’s brother and his older sister. Once the kids and Alex woke up, I had Alex call his siblings and organize an outing with everyone but me.

His sister found a groupon ticket for the SeaLife Aquarium in Orlando, and at around nine thirty, Alex left with the kids to meet up with them there.

After a lunch at Olive Garden (Alex’s sister works there and got them a discount) Landon and Evie returned to the room, where I had lain around and watched tv, talking a mile a minute about their adventure.

I guess there was an explorer’s kit available for purchase that included a lanyard, scavenger hunt, and pamphlet that their aunt bought for them. Landon had a blast following along with the course and still has most of the items. He has been interested in aquatic life for awhile (
his favorite Disney film is Finding Dory) and keeps asking if we can go back to the aquarium.

Nobody tell him there’s one in London!
This is one of my many, many excuses to get us back to Florida.

When we were at my mom’s house before the Disney portion of our trip, we had taken the kids to her local aquarium and worried a little they would be bored repeating the activity. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case at all.

They had such a fun time they crashed in bed and napped for almost two hours!

Around dinnertime, we reconnected with the siblings and agreed to meet at Bahama Breeze for dinner. I was feeling a lot better after resting all day and drinking approximately six bottles of water, so I joined along for this one.

No pictures from the evening, but we all had a nice time chatting and catching up. We stowed the kids on the other side of their aunt and uncle in the booth, so Alex and I had a free evening with no food cutting or drink assistance needed. You can’t beat that!

It was back to Shades after dinner where we used Alex’s Fire Stick to watch Mary Poppins Returns on the television. And with that another vacation day was at a close!

Like I said, one of the shortest and lackluster updates I’ve written. Thankfully, we were back in the parks the following day for more fun!

Up Next…I’m Honored to Trade with You, Princess

Ach Alicia I’m sorry you felt unwell but happy it passed quickly enough! We’ve had a few day like that we’re one or more of us is just a bit off and always reckon it’s either dietary or heat related. Doesn’t make it fun but it’s way better than a full on stomach bug and easier to get rid off which is something.
The kids sound like they had a blast at the aquarium and kudos to you on the seating for dinner. Hard to beat a sort-of kid-free meal :thumbsup2

Yay an update! Too bad you were feeling ill. Nothing worse than feeling sick while on vacation. Nice your DH was able to carry on and enjoy some time with the kids and his siblings. At least it happened on a down day and you didn't miss time in the parks. We pushed our March trip to Sept. If masks are required we might have to push it back again. Can't wait for life to return to something resembling normal!

Boo for feeling sick at Disney! I'm sure it wasn't your favorite day but I'm glad you were able to rest and let your body do it's thang.

You see, sometime around four in the morning, my week of poor eating and terrible hydration caught up with me and I became sick. There’s nothing I hate more in the world than feeling nauseous, and I was pretty upset that I hadn’t listened to my body, and I put myself in that situation.
That is the worst feeling - waking up suddenly and realizing you don't feel well at all. Sorry this one hit while you were on vacation.

Wow buddy how weird is it that the only aquarium in the WORLD is in Florida??

They had such a fun time they crashed in bed and napped for almost two hours!
Wow, a fun-induced coma? What a day!

Like I said, one of the shortest and lackluster updates I’ve written. Thankfully, we were back in the parks the following day for more fun!
It sounds like its a day that was great for your kids, even if it wasn't so much for you. Hopefully you were able to feel better and get back in on the fun!

This was a good time to get sick (only because you really didn't miss anything). I only say this because this aquarium is nothing special. We were VERY disappointed when we took Gia there last summer.

I'm sorry you weren't feeling well :( But at least if it was going to happen, it was on a non park day! I'm glad Alex and the kids had a fun day and you were able to venture out for dinner with everyone!

Oh no! I am so sorry you got sick. The last time I had the stomach flu was at Disney in March 2016...
We also have a Sea Life Aquarium at MoA!
Last summer at this time was much more fun- planning trips to see you and @Dugette and then planning our own trip to London and DLP. :( Hopefully this thing lessens up sooner rather than later. So depressing. (But I'm not at all ready for things to open up with our numbers still rising...)

So sorry you fell ill @ Disney. It's a good think it was on a rest day. I know you'll remember to drink lots of water next trip.

Smart move sitting the kids next to their Aunt & Uncle. This reminds me of a time when Michelle was little. We went to eat at a Chinese Buffet with family. Michelle insisted on sitting at the other end of the table next to her Aunt. Aunt M helped her get her food and set her up. Towards the end of the meal I looked down the table and Michelle had lots of shrimp on her plate but she looked a little off. I asked her who was peeling her shrimp? Yikes! no one. She was eating them peelings and all. I don't think we have ever let Aunt M live that down.

Their coffee is really sweet, much sweeter than I prefer, but it wasn’t bad and gave me the caffeine I needed. The food was pretty mediocre.

Hiya!! New to your report....If you ever find yourself at Caribou again, one little trick I have learned that is if you request an extra espresso shot, it cuts down on the sweetness 😁☕

Yeah this a tradition we need to make sure and STOP!

HAHA girl!

I am happy to hear you made it to dinner and ended up having a nice evening!

Sorry you didn’t feel well! I’m glad it worked out for you to have a rest day to yourself.
It looks like the kids had a fun day exploring the aquarium!

Ugh so sorry to hear you had such a rough day. Sounds like any one of those things could have done it to you, let alone the combination. But if it was going to happen a non-park day is certainly the day for it occur. Glad you rallied though for some dinner with the family.

First, I'm so sorry that you missed out on your wonderful vacation with your parents in Scotland (and likely additional trips throughout the year). I don't see us traveling (and especially flying) for quite some time. Cancelling trips stinks, especially if you were really looking forward to them. I will cross my fingers for all of us that a vaccine will be developed and we'll all be able to re-plan our missed trips for next year!

Catching up...

Your day at MK sounded wonderful! Crystal Palace PPO breakfast is one of my FAVORITE Disney meals - I'm thrilled to hear you love it, too! Your kids must have been over the moon excited to be at MK with both of their grandmothers. I'm so happy that Landon loved Space Mountain - I was unsure what he'd think given his experience on Soarin'! I'm glad you were still able to experience HEA despite the rain and the delays. You really are paying for the seating rather than the food!

Your final day with your mom sounded wonderful! Animal Kingdom has risen higher on my "favorite park" list every time I go. The attractions are excellent and the overall atmosphere is lovely. It also has some great food options! Ending your day in Epcot sounds perfect for your mom and your experience at Garden Grill makes me even more excited to eat there.

That's such a bummer that you had to take a day to rest during your trip! I hope you were back to 100% (or close to it) by the next day!

Oh no :( :(

There’s nothing I hate more in the world than feeling nauseous, and I was pretty upset that I hadn’t listened to my body, and I put myself in that situation.

That's a terrible feeling especially because you're thinking all I had to do was drink more water to fix this but now it's too late. Glad you were able to recover a little to make it to dinner!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: whatever it takes!

It's so easy to derail yourself at Disney. Not only are you contending with the insane humidity and heat, but you're also constantly surrounded by good food and drinks.

If masks are required we might have to push it back again. Can't wait for life to return to something resembling normal!

I can't imagine how uncomfortable it must be to be in central FL with masks. Obviously, I understand why it's so, but man am I glad I live in more moderate climate.

Wow buddy how weird is it that the only aquarium in the WORLD is in Florida??

Hahaha, one day he'll figure out my shenangins!

This was a good time to get sick (only because you really didn't miss anything). I only say this because this aquarium is nothing special. We were VERY disappointed when we took Gia there last summer.

Alex wasn't impressed with it, either.
We keep saying we need to go back to Seaworld one day. Military get free entrance once a year, so we really have no excuse not to work it into our plans during a trip.
