The Disappointment and Thrill of a reschedule...

So I had originally booked a trip for this November with the goblins. They didn't know, it was going to be a surprise again. But we were going to fly for the first time, and I just am not confident that what the parks will look like by early November, what flights will look like with kids on the spectrum, and if the water parks not being open at all which was a specific request from my middlest, will make it worth going. We were booked at Pop, which I've stayed at but they haven't and I know it isn't the fanciest of resorts, (they LOVED Caribbean Beach last time) but I had such a great experience with the ease of the Skyliner, I new they'd enjoy it too. The last trip we took as a family was early March of 2019, so it was disappointing to not be able to get back there this year. I went myself in Feb of this year, and I had planned to take them in November because I STILL haven't made it to a xmas party. It's just not an easy time of year for us to travel. But I had plotted and planned and I'm pretty sure that's what caused Covid-19. The universe knew I had something planned and insists on spiting me. (I kid.)

But in letting that go, I also got to do my favorite thing ever. Plan a new trip! I randomly selected a week that made sense for my work, and should be warm enough to hit a water park. The days were actually mildly chilly for our March trip and us New Englanders and some Canadians were the only people using the pool. Lol! So, slightly warmer and I invited my ex along again as the children haven't been able to spend time with him since he lives out of state to us and travel restrictions etc. So now we need a 5 person room, which limits options a bit. I knew we could go to Caribbean again, which would also put us on the Skyliner, but I genuinely want to try some other resorts, and POR has been on my radar to take the kids to for years. So I messaged my DTP and she ran some numbers for me and POR will only be (before discounts, obv) less than a hundred dollars different from CBR, and I'm wondering if it will also be less populated since the Skyliner is still "new" and those resorts may become more popular.

So we're booked at POR, tickets to follow whenever they actually release those this year. And now, instead of feeling a lot of reservations about going, I'm now excited about our new reservations! (See what I did there???)

I'm still sitting on a September trip which will most likely be rescheduled to next spring. I just haven't been able to pull the plug yet. Good for you!

I still have my September trip booked but have also booked a Nov/Dec trip for 2021 as a 'back up' (she says as if she wouldn't do both given the opportunity :rotfl2:) . It definitely took the sting out of the uncertainty of my original trip. I'm in the UK and doing a stay in WDW then cruise, so a lot could close down the trip.

Ooooooooh yeah that's tough with a combo trip!!! I still haven't pulled the trigger on going on a Disney cruise!!! I may look at that for 2022 actually. The kids would love it. I'm just a wuss. :D :D :D

Had to cancel Nov 2019 for family health reasons. Rescheduled to May, and, yeah, we all saw where those reservations went. Thinking of this November. Already have the tickets, and looking into refundable reservations. I think I will take a wait-and-see approach regarding the course of the virus, and the safety measures in effect. A lot can change in six months.

Well I made the decision and cancelled our September trip. Since it would be just 6 weeks from the opening dates I didn't think much, if anything, regarding the new restrictions/reductions would change. We'll probably go next year, but I haven't rebooked anything yet. Waiting to see what happens over the next few months.

Will be canceling our August trip which was a reschedule from our May Disney Cruise/WDW trip. Am a teacher on maternity leave and was very much looking forward to originally vacationing during the school year.
We still have flight credits to use and will most likely schedule a trip for next year. Contemplating when will be best to go considering I'll have to follow the school calendar.

cancelled our july trip (and thought my 9 and 14 yo would be so upset, having gone at least 2x a year, since they were 6 mos old) - they were thrilled and excited to rebook for next summer, and hopefully an experience more like what they are used to.

Yeah I was expecting the measures, and I didn't think they'd be fun with the goblins. Hopefully things will be a little easier come March '21. Fingers crossed!

I agree with what Fall will look like. I'd be okay by myself but with the kids? Not worth the aggravation.

Just remember next year is the 50th anniversary so crowds were originally expected to be higher. Who knows what it will look like now of course. Congrats on the new baby!!!!

Yeah I feel like the people in my general sphere don't get why I get bummed when I can't go. I'm actually feeling okay with pushing back my Nov trip simply because I snuck in an adults-only in Feb before everything went crazy.

We were taking a 6 y.o. and 1.5 y.o. for their first trip. It just didn't make sense for us to go this year when a lot of our plans revolved around character meals/interaction, BBB, etc. I also don't think any of us would do well with a mask in Florida's heat/humidity.

Yeah that's a good call for sure!!!
