We are paid for ten months but it is split into ten payments and the summer is unpaid leave but we have saved up money from our salary over the year to be paid.

I don't understand what you mean.

The Ts&Cs say "any part of your booking", it's not just about tickets.

I think they have said their specific ticket has its own refund rules less 15%, nothing to do with Covid1.

I plan to wait until the beginning of August (for a Sept 10 departure) before making a decision. I spoke to Virgin Atlantic today on WhatsApp, and they heavily implied that my flight details will be resolved by mid June, so I can then sit and wait until I know for certain what Dis are doing..

Section 11.

They don't give refunds for ticket only bookings. If they didn't give refunds for package bookings they would mention it in section 11.

Besides, they're ABTA bonded/registered, so they can't not give a refund for a cancelled trip, as long as you meet the (reasonable) conditions they set out.

Given the14 day quarantine period, I wonder whether the FCO advisory will remain in place. Do they sit comfortably together, or is one intended to support the other?
If airlines start flying and people chose to fly, then the only party to benefit will be travel insurers/ underwriters, who can rely on exclusions in the their policies.
Has there been any news about the US opening borders?

So I’m slowly coming to the realisation that Florida won’t be happening at the end of September and I’m going to have to cancel, to attempt to claw back some of the money this is a decision I need to make by middle of July.

It is not because the flights aren’t operating, because Disney isn’t open or even cause I’m not happy to wear a mask and socially distance (I’ve lived in surgical and ffp masks since beginning of March I’m a mask pro) but because even if I could get agreement from work for unpaid leave to quarantine on return (which financially I could manage).

Working frontline Nhs I can’t morally and with any conscience leave the ED I work in short staffed for the two extra weeks in what could be the middle of second wave.

Now because this will be me cancelling rather than the airline or hotel. Depending on how I’ve read the terms and conditions I stand to loose either over £300, nearly £2000 or at worst all which is nearly £4000.

I have travel insurance but again because it is me choosing not to travel I can not claim on it, although Aer Lingus are offering to change flights if you choose not to fly the soonest I’ll be able to go is next September so flights are not released yet so also not an option.

This I have accepted.

What is making it so much harder to swallow is it seem one rule for the masses (and people with a conscience) and another altogether for the people with power, influence and money.

I'm not saying DC is right in what he did, he wasn't IMO.

However to say it's the wealthy and powerful who are doing what they want is far from accurate. - All my neighbours have people over, and the Covidiots that are using our local parks and beaches are building a second peak as I write this!

I don’t believe that it is about wealth either. It is about selfishness and lack of empathy.
I am eternally grateful that I don’t live in a flat with no garden or balcony. I can’t even begin to imagine how awful that would be during lockdown, particularly if one adds children and sickness into the equation. Perhaps that is the problem..... as much as one may try to empathise, it is impossible to truly imagine how awful it must be.
And Wales remains in lockdown!

Can't you claim your flight payment back in full because its not you that cancelled? I just been told I can with VA. Sure, it will take time for it to be back in your account, but, it's better than not having it at all.
As for Disney, you can cancel and lose just £50 per person in admin fees.
You should not have to claim on your travel insurance really, especially for the flight.
Contact your airline for clarification on what happens if they cancel the flight regarding a monetary refund. Even VA only offered me an open ticket, I had to ask if I was entitled to a refund.

Can't you claim your flight payment back in full because its not you that cancelled? I just been told I can with VA. Sure, it will take time for it to be back in your account, but, it's better than not having it at all.

The Spanish Government have just announced that their two week quarantine period for arriving travellers will be removed from the 1st July. I think the UK requirements will be lifted not long after that.
One other element, however, is when will we be allowed to enter the US?
