My dilemma

Hi all.

I have a flight booked with Virgin holidays 19th august 2020. We were going to stay at Cabana Bay and do Universal, Disney, Kennedy Space Center, Busch Gardens and possibly Discovery Cove.

Not being negative, but being realistic is that we will not be going.

My issue at the moment is whether to cancel at some point or transfer to next year.

The worst thing that can happen to us with out money is that should FCO allow us to travel to the states (we are from UK) but when we arrive if the quarantine is still in place, this would be impossible to do.
Even if there is not a quarantine in the US, but is in the UK, we have work commitments so then we would be allowed to fly but wont be able to due to our work so would lose our money.

I guess it is just a waiting game and see what the UK government do after the 3 weeks ends.

I hope everyone is able to sort out their holiday situations, thank you for any advice.

Stay safe

Ross.

Seems like you've made up your mind pal, so I'm not sure what advice you're looking for.

I'd personally say it's always better to try and cancel and get as much money back rather than take a voucher or the like, because who the heck knows what else will be happening between Now and Your Holiday In 2021.

Would you be happy with the reservation system in place, potential lack of dining reservations, masks, potentially no stage shows: fireworks: parades or meet and greets?
If so, then just hold on and wait to see what happens as I can't see the quarantine thing coming into place or if it does, not for more than a couple of weeks. Trump will probably follow us so if we don't have quarantine, then America won't and we'll probably do a trade basically saying if we can come into your country without having to quarantine, it will work both ways.
You're not losing anything by waiting a little longer - it is hard though, I know how you are feeling as we're due to go in Oct plus get married over there so it's just a waiting game.
Whatever you decide, I hope it all works out for you x

Hi virgin signposted to us when we changed our daughters flight this week (she is travelling with friends using our DVC points) to move to August as July is highly likely to be a no go, however, August is currently on track. They offered her refund, move flight to travel before 30th November this year FOC or keep open ticket to use before September 2022. However her original Flight was cancelled. She was due to go 22nd June. Now rebooked for 26th August. Good luck with what you decide to do 👍

Thanks for the info all.

I understand the new reservation system. Not sure where we stand with our 14 day unlimited pass at Disney but that could change by Aug. Do not mind meet and greets or fireworks as seen them before, fingers crossed the quarantine does not last long.

I hope you get married and it all works out. We got engaged at Cindys Royal Table in 2016! Hope you all manage to go.

Thanks again. I think i will just wait and see. And ask Virgin Holidays what the latest day we can change dates.

Thanks again.

Ross.

I think the 14 day passes have been made valid to next year if already purchased. I’ve got Universal 14 day tickets and emailed them and got confirmation they have been.

Thats good. Though booked through Virgin Holidays. Unsure if we will be able to use them this year??

Surely your first point of call is are you covered by travel insurance to get your money back? Mind there would be an excess I guess, so if wanting to go in 21 might be better if just extended.
