I give up - going to pack it in for now

I think that based on Shanghai Disneyland's current system you will have to wait until you get into the park you have reservations for to make attraction reservations once your ticket has been activated when entering. The more popular attractions will be harder to come by because of lower capacity. I think it will be like legacy Fadtpasses but done online or if you don't have app access with CMs stationed throughout the park.

Right now we're booked for 9/25-10/2 but I honestly don't think it's going to happen. I so desperately want to hear that things are going to be close to normal but I know they won't be. We go every 2-3 years so I've been looking forward to this for quite awhile but it's a very expensive risk to take. Now they're cancelling all dining ADR's and no fast passes.
My daughter just graduated college and got a teaching job in Florida, and an apartment 15 minutes from Disney. I might go down just to stay with her for a few days and maybe hit up Disney Springs but I don't think the parks will be in the cards

For all of you that cancelled, I think you did the right thing. For one, just too many unknowns, why would WDW announce anything this radical without having a plan in place?
Then the biggest no for us is the mask. We are Floridians, we are used to the heat and humidity. However, we went DS yesterday and even walking around in the heat for 20 minutes myself and my kids were dying. We all got terrible headaches and it was absolutely miserable. My 7 year old who LOVES the parks said no way am I going to a park with this on. Theres going to be people passing out left and right.

Now I completely realize it's for our safety, so dont come for me but there has to be a better way. What that is, I don't know but what I do know is that as long as masks are required we wont be back.

very telling sign. we also live in fl and can imagine how much worse it would be there wearing one. shows how clueless execs are to how hot/humid it is there and how much wearing one makes that worse, even for those used to the heat/humidity. with all the measures to limit attendance and keep people apart they're planning, this really was NOT necessary on top of that

This bob Chapek character does not inspire confidence in who is steering this ship. What a mess , we have been 15 times and I am seriously considering never returning - there is a whole world to explore

Except you can't really go anywhere else right now either. People that have planned any international travel are pretty SOL for those trips for the time being. Want to go to Hawaii? You need to quarantine for 14 days in a hotel room before you can even go to the pool deck. Disney's changes right now aren't happening in a vacuum.

I feel REALLY bad for one-and-doners or people with little ones who really want to meet characters or folks who were celebrating something super special and were looking forward to a specific experience. DD(12) and I are keeping our Sept girls weekend because we honestly had no expectations to begin with for this trip, so this will be an adventure and we're really looking forward to experiencing WDW during this crazy time. But I know it stinks for many of you, and I get why some of you would want to cancel. I'm so sorry ~ I know how disappointing this is.

I guess I missed where they cancelled The Food & Wine Festival, but certainly expected it. Sadly, we're done.

I'm glad it will work out for the above poster who this policy was custom-made for, but you still have to get reservations to get into the park. No guarantees on that. Reduced crowds sounds wonderful until you're waiting just as long because of wiping down all the rides after every person disembarks. How about those bars and chains that separate ride lines? They'll definitely need to be wiped down often. Every family is different and loves different aspects of a Disney trip.
No pools and face masks in 95 degree heat? Sounds like a nightmare!!!

I totally agree. Lower capacity crowds may not translate to lower wait times. But who knows maybe the virtual queueing will work wonders and maybe people will still wait, just outside the line. And when the line does form it will be a social distance. So it will take much longer to load. The Disney mantra, fill in all the available space and that little hand wave forward like a drill Sgt move move move. This will result in much slower loading times. And when people are standing on top of you and practically get in your speedway car as you are trying to get out. All of this will change. Good luck everybody.
Exactly...wait times are not going to be shorter...if anything they'll be longer. Disney's not bringing back their full staff...not even close they're going to do the bare min. with the bare min. Anyone buying into the low crowds thing is just fooling themselves. Now, walkways should be more pleasant, but not wait times.

I agree!! The parks might not be shoulder to shoulder people walking around but with the reduced cast members and spacing people out in rides the way they are doing in Shanghai, I would almost bet much longer wait times for the attractions that they are running. For what we pay for park admission, just not worth it.

We are booked in late August - no way DH can do a mask in that heat, I have asthma so it's very hard for me to wear the mask for prolonged periods of time, so it's looking doubtful at best! :sad2:

Did I hear correctly that the resort pools will be closed?

They haven't said. I mean I can't imagine and I have no idea why they would close them considering all the research and the fact that all other resorts/hotels have theirs open, but who knows. They're not opening water parks because they don't feel they'll make enough money off them to make it worth it for them so who knows. I certainly would hope they'd be open.

You are correct. It is just not worth it.
As much as I hate to admit it I have to agree. Having said that I am lucky enough that my kid's prime Disney years have passed. We were lucky enough to get 10 trips in during the good years. We would love to go back a few more times to experience the latest WDW has to offer but our plan now is to wait at least 5 years. For all of you in your prime Disney years you have my sympathy.

That wouldn't be too terrible. Disneyland basically does this right now with Max Pass and it's a pretty fabulous system. We've used it on 3 separate trips and regularly get 10 FPs per day with it.

I think if I were doing an adults only trip I could deal with all the restrictions. I can go with the flow and deal with whatever happens. But I can’t see taking the kids and dealing with all of it. It wouldn’t be a normal trip for them and just not as much fun. And it’s so much money to spend on such a reduced experience.

One of my bucket list trips was doing the Halloween party and F&W, which we did last fall. It will carry us through until things return to somewhat normal. I think we will do DL before we go back to WDW.

I have been to WDW over 40 times....12 cruises....visit every August and stay at Poly for 10 days....look forward to our trips and never complain about the cost as to us it is like nowhere on earth. I started going as a 5 year old with my parents in 1979 and continue to go with my kids every year...sometimes twice a year.

We have a trip planned August 7-17, and are going to wait until the last minute to cancel but with all the restrictions are almost definitely going to skip this year. I understand safety and security Disney is trying to put in place but to not even offer reduced prices and cancel all the plans we made months in advance is just infuriating. I have no idea how it is expected to walk around in 95 degree heat for 7 or 8 hours wearing a mask without major health issues.

Are any of you at the point where you have been life long diehards and are actually considering that maybe it's time to stop giving Disney your money and start vacationing elsewhere? Have any of you reached the point of frustration where you've said this is the last straw???

We actually reached that point about 5 years ago. Disney for us has been an add-on to other vacations. The exception was this year when I was going with my neighbor and her two young children. We were supposed to go the first week of September but opted to cancel. To many reductions/restrictions and having to wear face masks in the heat/humidity was too much for us. We decided to wait and go later when things get back to some semblance of normal.

edit: was replying to a different thread that got merged onto this one

We are in a similar boat. Spent the last “Disney-Decade” with my now 15 year old daughter going every year. We enjoyed the magic and we do love the mouse, but the problems that we had on our last two trips (major at Riverside with room issues and minor at Carribean Beach and some neighbors) coupled with my daughters age and certainly the nail in the proverbial coffin being this pandemic and restrictions, we had planned on going in February and staying at the Dolphin for a more “adult” experience for my daughter to experience the resort more and being around Boardwalk and walking to Epcot and HS, but my wife and daughter have both said “no way” to a February trip this year with all of the hassles to plan, airports, flights, resorts, and parks, it’s just not worth it (we come from NY so it’s a lot of coordinating already). I have cast members who are ex-students of mine who all have said to me...Don’t do it! So that’s what we are planning. Like the other posts have stated, for us, we have done the Disney Decade, so it’s easier for us to take the year and chill. Of course we will miss it and miss escaping the cold in February in NY, but I just can’t fathom the experience for the money showing any semblance of worth to our family, and I don’t want to feel short-changed and make it a complaint fest!

OMG! They aren't giving a discount at all then? Not even 15% off rack rate or anything?

Free dining gets 35% off room rate. Dining capacity is unknown so they are just wiping everything out and starting fresh.

Did I hear correctly that the resort pools will be closed?
They haven't said one way or the other, but many resorts may not be open so those pools would of course not be open. They also have the option of just opening the quiet pools at resorts- easier to maintain and would require less staff. One thing I would count on is that not every resort will be open and not every pool at those that are, will be open. SAB is amazing, but it has a lazy river (been told lots of times a lazy river is too hard to distance in) and it's much more labor intensive to maintain for example. I don't know if it will be open or even if the YC will be, but there's a good possibility it won't be.

A good rule of thumb in the first few weeks is to expect anything and don't expect to know everything until you're actually there. If you can live with that, you're good to go. If just reading about the possibility of something you like not being available upsets you, you should think twice about your plans.
