I held on to the bitter end, but..,

We (even me) all suspected, okay knew, it was coming, but today BA cancelled my flight on 1 July. ☹️ WDW cancelled the first part of my split stay from 1 to 11 July yesterday but being optimistic I had Portofino at UOR as a back up.
Used Twitter to pm BA and refund dealt with.
October anyone?😂

Sorry to hear it WD. Yes, we may know things in the back of our head, but seeing it in print is something different.

Time to get plans in place for October and don‘t let the negative folks put you off!!! I think we all have the intelligence to know the difficulties, but we’ll still keep realistic, but positive!

Tough times. I had an email today from Disney ‘reminding’ me my final balance is due in 14 days. Well it is not going to be paid and I’m going to hope the flights do not operate so can get majority of my money back.

Even if they hadn't cancelled the flight we can't get into the USA anyway. Or has that been lifted?

Not yet. I do see Virgin Atlantic are still selling flights to America, although they are indirect now that they don't go from Gatwick. I haven't checked BA yet.

I'm formulating a plan B if my September trip falls through. I know Disney are no longer taking new bookings for the rest of the year, but, will they let non US guests modify a current reservation for later on in 2020 if we cannot fly in because of the restrictions. I'm thinking end of October early November, with a plan C for sometime in the first three months of 2021

Frankly wouldn't touch Virgin with a barge pole at the moment

As posted on another thread, VA sent out emails today to say that LHR to MCO flights start 20th July so it is assumed that we will be allowed in by then.

August 7th Cancelled for me. Moved my WDW hotel to August 2021 and will hope things are much rosier by then.

Virgin changed our ticket to OPEN so hopefully come October time they are still in business and the fare hasn't increased by a million quid ;-)

Time to put the dream Disney trip behind me and look forward to some sort of normality here in the UK.

I always try and look for the positives though. Spaceship Earth is such a nostalgia thing for me, I first rode it with my Dad in 1988 and it blew our minds. This would have been the first trip that I wouldn't have been able to ride it. With a bit of luck it will be back in 2021.

Every cloud and all that.....
You will feel happier now that you have made a decision. We do. Our dream trip (July 25th-9th August) is now firmly behind us. BUT we are now full on planning our return in 2022 while, like you, hoping that air fares don’t increase ridiculously (we also have an open ticket with VA)
Time to look forward 😁

I was hoping that restrictions may have been lifted. Seems like shifting sands on both sides of the Atlantic.😉
And the exchange rate is still hovering around the 1.25 ish range. Not the 1.48 we had on our honeymoon or the 2.00 I had at age 16 (pls don't do the maths) but given the circumstances 1.25 is not bad!

We feel your disappointment. We're just hoping that next year it will be back to being able to look forward to going without all the current issues.... but patience in waiting for Disney holiday is not something I've lots of!!:smooth:

We cancelled this week as well. In fact I woke up this morning on the day that should have been the 90 days mark to our 2020 trip, which is now the 365 day mark to our 2021 trip, and found the email about my refund from WDW. :( We're a pretty patient bunch, but it's still a bummer.
