Anyone hear if masks will be mandatory for resort guests? Haven’t heard about public spaces while on resort property. Not sure I can wear a mask every minute I’m not in our room.

The requirement is for kids 3+ so your 2 year old wouldn't have to wear one. It is typically not recommended for kids under 3 to wear masks in general

It's not recommended for any child 3 and under OR any child who cannot easily express when they are having trouble breathing in a mask, but Disney feels the need to enforce this on all guests 2 and under. Oh and the WHO says masks should only be for people who are sick or caring for sick and not for people who are well...

The information on masks is very muddled. Wearing a mask when there is no one in your immediate vicinity is pointless, I'm more concerned about touching surfaces that may be infected. Walking past someone is unlikely to infect you, it's different if you are stood next to them for any length of time such as in line is a different matter, but, the virus can live for many hours or even days on surfaces, so anti viral wipes and hand sanitiser as well as handwashing is far more vital than a mask. I'm not a fan of gloves as they can lull you into a false sense of security and not wash or santise your gloved hands as much as bare hands, gloves are only good for a specific task, not all days wear.

I think Disney’s mask policy is pretty clear, regardless of how effective people feel they are. Things change, but at this point, if families know they can’t follow the guidelines, they shouldn’t go. And if they do go, they shouldn’t be mad, if they are told or reminded to put on their masks around the resort.

Now, how well the mask wearing around the resorts is enforced, remains to be seen.

I have only been inside a grocery store about 8 times since this all started, but I sanitze my hands, put gloves on, while shopping, use hand sanitzer about three times. My thinking is there are less creases in gloves for germs to hide than my hands (I got old hands LOL). By the time I get the groceries into the house, I'd probably use hand sanitzer a few more times , throw away gloves and finally wash my hands.

But this is for an hour or two, If I wore gloves all day, I'd need about 5 pairs. I'm not eating or using rest room with gloves on.

I was at a beach resort in Walton county for Memorial day week. The only time we wore masks was to go into retail stores. The pools and beaches were pretty much operating in a normal fashion. restaurants operated at reduced capacity. We are certainly fine and just checked Walton county stats on the Covid site and don’t see anything there to indicate a surge In cases. I realize Disney needs to be more careful and will have way more scrutiny than other places, but personally feel the restrictions are extreme in the resorts (parks are different).

I didn’t realize it was a union requirement. got it. it will be interesting to see how long the requirement lasts. I’m definitely not going until summer 2021 so hopefully will be different by then.
