**Official DLR October 2020 Check In Thread...Take 2!!**

I’m going back and forth on my dates. In the past has Gay Days been that busy? I could easily go the last week in September but the first week of October just sounded more appealing to me. I’m having issues using the search function on my phone so figured I’d ask here.

And really, with reduced capacity in our future- will it even matter much?
In the past, historically, Gay Days adds up to 40,000 guests to the parks. Not all convention participants have park tickets or spend all day in the parks. But, yes, Gay Days has usually been very busy. This year? As with everything else, who knows?

I am starting to feel a sigh of relief with “all“ of the July news, however I am so excited and hopeful for info on Oogie Boobie Bash soon! Yes, I am that excited to plan!! I have bought new luggage, clothing, shoes, essentials.....anything I can think of to help keep me distracted And feel like I am preparing.
Anyone else getting excited for news and planning?

We just moved from July at the DLH to October at the GC! I am excited. We are local AP holders bringing nephews. Hoping to do the Halloween Party as well.

Alright October peeps......who is feeling hopeful now for an amazing trip??

Yes! I just booked our flight with my travel certificate (via United, which btw was a huge pain in the ****) and we're all set to go! I'm going to go in full planning mode and just take what I can get. Fingers crossed for Oogie Boogie Bash and Halloween fun but I'll be happy with whatever we get. The past few months (for everyone!) have just been so stressful, I need something happy to look forward to. Can't wait!

Do you guys think DLH will be open by October? We have a stay booked at DLH and aren’t wanting to pay the GC price this go around.

There are early reports of rebooking DLH over to GCH without a change in price if the hotel reservation is before October 1st. This would imply Disney phone cast members are being guided that Oct 1st DLH will be open again and this matches the online calendar which is showing DLH being available again starting Oct 1st...

Okay, we're a go for October now that we know for sure our July 4th is a bust. Just depends whether we do 10/2-10/7 or 10/6-10/11. Kinda trying to avoid Gay Day crowds, but also hate the idea of a full work week after five days at Disney.

So glad I bought my tickets last week, now the waiting game starts to see what the new reservation system is like. After everything, now that we have a date, it finally feels like I will get to Disneyland this year after all.

Interesting! Thanks for the update. Our stay starts the 6th (in theory :-) )

We are going for a short trip Sept 30 - Oct 3 if all goes well, staying at GCH. This trip will look a lot different than previous trips, but we figure even if we spend a large majority of our time in the room we'll be happy. It's nice to have something fun to look forward to!

It's been incredibly busy. So busy, that I often don't go on many rides and the last time I stayed at the Grand during Gay Days (which was maybe 3 years ago) I couldn't find anywhere to sit in the lobby or outside to have a drink lol.

With that said, I got my email from Gay Days a couple days ago and I went ahead and booked a stay at the Grand. I was booked offsite for that weekend, but I am hoping that they will have the Halloween party on Friday night like they always have. Last year as I was walking out of DCA in a very tired state, I was wishing I had a room at the Grand. Even if they don't have the Halloween party, at least there will be some Gay Days festivities. I just won't expect to have a relaxing drink at the Grand over the weekend and if I do end up getting that - it will just be a special surprise.

Yes, definitely excited for news and planning! I'm right there with ya my friend! :yay:
Can't wait for news of the Bash! Also waiting on seeing if our school schedule may change or not. We have no idea but hope we can slot in at least a weekend for the party.

@abent will you buy us all new luggage? 🧳

same. Im from Ireland, so doing the same waiting game as you. Have you sorted travel and medical insurance?

Also have you thought about a solo trip? Yiu could book a lower rate hotel and just do a solo trip. I've been doing solo park trips for years :)
This is usually my solo trip. I like to go with friends - we meet up for an occasional meal and rides but often go our own ways for the most part.

as for medical insurance I have some with my 3rd party insurer and for travel insurance it’s with my airline (WestJet).

I think by the time the beginning of October is here we’ll have a much better idea of if the trip is still a go and I do if border is open for non-essential travel.

Okay, dates are official: 10/6-10/11. Probably staying at the Peacock (timeshare points), but I'm going to look at what else might be available that's a slightly closer walk.

My family and I are a big “maybe” for Columbus Day weekend. We would be flying out on Friday, October 9, and drive back on Monday, October 12. Again, these travel dates come with about a gazillion question marks. My husband has a conference at the Disneyland Hotel and will be driving down on the 7th or 8th. Since he’ll already have a hotel room, it seems like madness to not join him, but we don’t know what’ll happen with the kids’ school (we got one in middle school and one in high school, and we are in a county—SF, CA—that has been super-careful about opening up). If they end up still having Zoom school, we might even drive down with him. Anyhow... I want to mark my spot, just in case...

Looks like my son's football team has an off week the week after Columbus day so things are looking up for an October trip. No hotel booked yet but I am close to pulling the trigger.
