She's A Disney Adult and Feeling Artsy, a February 2020 Trip Report (Updated 6/15)

When we left off, we were heading out from Disney Springs at 2:04. We saw that a bus was there and had people waiting.

Our timing was perfect and we walked right on, leaving at 2:10.

I have never ever complained about a Disney bus driver but this guy was a little nuts. Looking back I probably should have lodged a formal complaint of some sort. He was very agressive in his driving and nearly knocked everyone over that was standing.

It was insane, a lady fell over on the road to WL, and he was all over the road. It was a very strange experience. We did make it there by 2:22.

We walked up to the lobby and went to get our bags, and we had them by 2:33. We shopped in the mercantile and got our final mug refills. We then chatted with a nice older couple in the lobby who have been DVC members since 1992.

They said it was the best thing they ever did, and their grown kids have bought contracts now.

They were great to talk to and really made us feel good about our DVC purchase. We sometimes question the cost but it's great family time.

It was neat, and they definitely loved Wilderness Lodge too.

We headed outside and a plain white bus came at 3:32.

It was our DME bus, and we left on it at 3:42. The driver said there would be two more stops. First up was the Poly, where quite a few people got on, and then we got to the Grand Floridian at 3:55, and left with a few more people at 4:01. The driver told us riddles as we headed to the airport. Stuff like "Forward I'm heavy, backwards I'm not, what am I...a ton!"

He was really nice and it was a quick trip to the airport. We were super excited to go through TSA precheck instead of the regular line for the first time in Orlando

We actually stopped at the food court and ate our cupcakes before we went to security.

We still weren't super hungry, but we enjoyed the little treat. Then we went through the TSA screening, which only had a 5 minute wait. It was great. Alloe's liquid medicine was flagged, but it was in its own bin so all they had to do was open it and use a test strip. Then we got on the monorail and went to the terminal.

It was pretty quick and easy and we all got to stay together, no chaos.

The food options weren't as great in the Delta terminal, but we were still full. I got us some Cokes at Nathan's and a couple of bottles of water for the flight.

I was posting on the Dis when I saw that they were lining up to board just after 6:00.

It was amazing, they didn't give away our seats this time!

We gate checked the stroller and another bag, and got to get on a little early. There was plenty of overhead space on board, and it was very nice. We like Delta.

We had a great flight home, Marshall fell asleep at some point and it was quiet.

I slept until we were over Louisiana, and then I woke up and played on my phone. The had free WIFi for texting, and I texted my parents about our great trip. We landed at LAX at 9:01 LA time, but we weren't exhausted.

It kinda felt early actually. Our truck was right where we left it and we were able to fit everything in the back.

That was an accomplishment, since we bad nested suitcases on the way there, which meant an extra bag for the puzzle on the way home.

The drive home went well on a Saturday night, and we were able to get to bed before too late. It rounded out an awesome trip quite nicely.

The world has changed so much since we got home from our trip. Only 4 weeks after we got home school was closed and Paul started working from home. Luckily we've been healthy and both of our jobs have been stable through all of this. We are optimistic about our trip next year.

We have our Copper Creek reservations starting January 28, 2021, and can't wait to make it back to WDW. We are fine with limited park time for our next trip, and will do what we have to as far as masks and other precautions. I am hoping that resort hopping is an option by then, but we will plan accordingly. It will be a different planning challenge, but it looks like we will have a little while longer before we have to make our ADRs...

Thank you all for following along as we relived our trip. We can't wait to share another trip report soon!

We will keep you updated! Thanks for joining in this time, and we will be back soon.

Great report! Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed your most recent trip report. It is strange to think how much things have changed in the last few months. I trying believe that things will go back to normal again. We just don't know how long that will be. We can't wait to return to the WL, hopefully this winter. :)

Recently back on the DIS, after a little hiatus, because we currently have our first DVC contract in ROFR and I'm officially obsessed with the Disboards again. Our home resort will be... CCV!! Because of this stumbling upon your trip reports has been so much fun and it makes me even more excited to get everything all wrapped up with our contract so we can plan our first stay at CCV! Love your two-person approach to your trip reports! It's awesome getting both of your perspectives! Keep them coming!

Nice last day! OKW is a very pretty resort. We stayed there once and enjoyed it. The only downside for me was how long it took the buses to get thru the resort. I don't think the parking lots were originally designed with buses in mind. But the boat to DS is definitely a plus. Glad your trip home went smooth. Looking forward to your next TR - hoping the World is somewhat back to normal by then. Thanks for sharing your trip!

Thanks so much for sharing your trip report. Sounds like a lot of fun was had by all. I also have found my TSA pre check invaluable at MCO. And I also like the direct Delta flights to MCO from LAX. They have become my preferred airline.

And yes, the world has definitely changed. I went about a month after you and flew home Friday 3/13 and it was definitely a different feeling flying home that day.

Thanks for sharing another amazing trip report.
I love reading about your experience at Disney, and having both your perpective really puts an interesting spin on your TR. And I love your traveling style... Disney world is so much more than just rides and parks. Your kids are really lucky to get to share these amazing vacations with you!

Your DVC experience also inspired me to put in my first DVC offer recently! I hope to be able to spend family time and create great memories with my kids just like you guys! Maybe we will try Copper creek in the future - it looks amazing!

Looking forward to your next TR - hopefully Disney will get back to almost normal at that time!

Great report! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, we appreciate the positive comment. Thanks for joining in.

Yeah, I'm sure things will be different for some time at WDW, but it should still be a great place to be. We can't wait to go back, and hopefully things will continue to get closer to normal.

Excellent report as always. Best wishes and lots of pixie dust that things will return to "normal" by the time your next trip rolls around.
Thanks so much! It fascinates us that people enjoy following our reports, but we sure enjoy sharing them. Whatever things are when we get back to WDW we will have a good time, and share how it goes.

Well that will certainly get you back into the DIS! Congratulations! There is a great CCV thread on the DIS here, as if you needed anything else to get you excited about your new home resort. Let us know when you pass ROFR, and get to schedule your first trip! We are glad that you enjoy hearing from both of us, and are looking forward to sharing the next trip. If you want some pictures of your new home resort, I might be able to find a few...

Thanks so much for following along and jumping in. We felt the same way about the buses at Port Orleans, and SSR when we visited. We would be concerned about the internal bus time at OKW, and probably wouldn't have it as a first choice for a trip for a while, but it could definitely be part of a split or a nice extra short trip someday. We can dream...

Yeah, we were really impressed with Delta this trip. From the check in counter to every employee we dealt with they did seem to be a step above. Who knows what will happen for our next trip, but we would definitely prefer to fly them again, even if it means taking the red-eye back there again.
I flew for work on March 11 and it was starting to get weird, so I can only imagine how it was a few days later. At least you got your trip in before the shutdown, barely.

Thanks as always for sharing your trip and family!
Aww, thank you. We look forward to doing it again.

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful adventure with us!

First of all, Congratulations! It is fascinating to us that we might have contributed to inspiring your DVC purchase, but hopefully you get to have many great vacations with it. We made a lot of trips and read a lot of reports and went for a long time thinking DVC just wasn't for us, but then everything came together and we are so happy that it did. Now we get to know that we will be back more frequently, which makes going home a lot easier.
So where are you trying to purchase, and have you had an offer accepted yet? Then you have the ROFR process to wait through, but in the end it will eventually work out and be worth it. There isn't a bad DVC resort, and at 7 months you might be able to switch to any of them (except Riviera, but that's ok...)
We really do love our time at Disney, no matter what we wind up doing. That may come in handy with limited park access and other possible restrictions for our next trip, but we are all looking forward to it. We definitely aren't "spend every second in the parks to get your money's worth" people, we just love it all there, and can't wait to be back. :goodvibes

Thank you!
Reading reports on the Dis and experiencing Disney with my family convinced me that we do not need to do parks all day and that we just love the vibe at the resorts, Disney Springs, etc
We have two kids (3 and 5) who hopefully will get to experience all the magic Disney has to offer without felling rushed!

So where are you trying to purchase, and have you had an offer accepted yet?
We have put in an offer at the Polynesian and it was accepted! It’s currently in RoFR (we are confident, it was a good price but probably not THAT good...) It’s a small contract (100 points) but we wanted to have just enough to travel every other year / year and a half in studios... we just fell in love when we visited the Poly 2 years ago and watched the fireworks by the beach... I remember thinking it would be amazing to stay there some day... I didn’t know about DVC then, and thought it was impossible to book a room there! And now hopefully in a few months we will be owners there, and my dream might come true!!

This is exactly how I am envisioning things right now. Even if we don’t get to the parks (or maybe just one or two days) there is so much to do, we won’t get bored! But hopefully Disney will be back to being Disney eventually!

It is surprising how often we ask the kids what their favorite part of a disney Day was and it turns out to be a playground or swimming at a pool. It's definitely not all about the rides for them, and they don't want to be rushed.

That is awesome. I love how DVC makes staying somewhere so nice atainable, and it is a great feeling to know that you own a piece of such a special place. Having your first Poly stay be at your home resort will be great. We really enjoy hanging out there too, and it is a great location for access to the TTC for Epcot and the MK monorail.

Yes, there is lots of great stuff to do. We are hoping to be able to go check out other resorts, and especially Fort Wilderness since it is one of our very favorites, but we'll take what we can get. We do tend to enjoy visiting resorts for QS meals somewhat spontaneously, and needing a reservation to visit would prevent that, but it is only temporary.
Besides, we could spend days just sitting in our room at our resort feeling super excited that it is ours, and knowing we get to come back frequently!
