Resort Change by Disney

What time did you dial in?
I have been dialing since 6:59 (lol) but I was getting busy signal...sometimes a wireless customer is not available...sometimes all circuits are busy...and sometimes no connection just silence and my cell phone showing it is calling.
After about 50 redials I got the Disney recording to say why I am calling and to enter my reservation number. It was 7:37 when I finally got through and put on hold after typing in my info on my cell keypad:thumbsup2

Anyone else get a random Disney gift card in email? I got one about 15 minutes ago and wonder if it's related to a resort stay? It's for $30. Someone on the other thread got one for $80

Edit: Once park reservations and then resorts are sorted out I'm going to see if I can transfer that balance to another card to see if it's legit.

I was told it's a housekeeping refund.

I got through to a representative just now and was told they can't modify right now. I'm currently booked at Riverside and she told me I will be able to move to an open resort, but I WILL have to pay the difference.

I am booked at Riverside too and this is my concern. I've read, and heard, so much conflicting information.

Ok thanks, makes sense
(mine is for $10 more though. The $30 would equate to a reservation in DH's name, not mine and he didn't get one. Then again, Disney never sends him the important emails 🤣 )

My hubby just got through on his phone now and was told that when they are up and running again we can talk to guest services, but if you use the term "modify" you want to make a change and then you pay the difference. She is not sure what they will do now, but it would go to them. Most likely she said not today and that we were welcome to call back later but currently 600 people in the queue.

I think this is just an educated guess people have decided to go with. lol

I just got off he phone with a CM after a 56 minute hold. They are not currently doing any modifications to packages until the new Park Pass reservation system is up and running so I was just able to ask questions.

FWIW, I did ask if my clients who have reservations at closed resorts will be moved or if they would be expected to pay the difference to move to one of the open resorts and she did confirm that they would be moved to an open resort at no cost.

UGH really?? I'm at riverside too.... we are going in August so Caribbean beach will be open by then, hoping to just switch there so there's no major price difference

Wondering if it will be a better resort? POP will be open by then and really hoping not to get moved there...

I hope that is true, but it seems to conflict with other information out there.

Thank you! I'm hoping that's the case with our WL reservation.

If you call back and they tell you this again, don't do anything and call again. But don't say you want to modify or say what resort you want. The head of my travel agency (platinum agency) and other CMs have confirmed that guests will be moved at no cost. But several CMs were telling people this the first round of modifications and it wasn't correct.

I asked if they would be moved to an equivalent resort or better and she said said. So value to value, moderate to moderate, deluxe to deluxe, or value to moderate, moderate to deluxe, but not a downgrade (in their eyes). Whether we the guests view it as a downgrade it another story.

I just got off with a CM too. I also called in through the TA line. She told me that everyone in our traveling group going to POR and POFQ in mid August will have to pay the difference. So much conflicting information out there.

AHH! All the conflicting information is driving me crazy. I still don't know if I believe that personally though. I really think Disney will move guests affected by the closures to an open resort. BUT I do think they are also hoping people cancel with the lack of communication and information.

AH bless you!!!! This is so reassuring

So is the best thing to just call and ask what will happen if my resort is not open?

I can't see them forcing someone to pay the difference because their booked resort is closed. I hope your CM was correct and mine was wrong. Now to figure out when I should call back in again...

SO lucky you even got through... I've been calling since 6:09 and no luck even getting on the line

Yes. BUT if they try and tell you that you have to pay to move to a new one or cancel don't listen to them. At least not yet. There has been a lot of conflicting information and if the information I (and my agency) received is not correct then everyone here should be reporting the same information and there will be zero instances of guests moving at no cost.

Again, I truly think that guests will be moved at no cost.
