US Passports Department Not Working

So, I sent mine in to be renewed in March, right before everything shut down for COVID, and it has said "received and processing" until this morning, when I decided to check it because on a couple of my other travel sites I saw that people were starting to receive their passports. Now mine says status is not found. Based on the description, I think it just means they can't tell me what stage my passport is at in renewal. Anyone else have this?

mine still finds it, just says they can't provide an update.

Application Status: In Process

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot provide an update on when you will receive your passport and the return of your citizenship documents until we resume normal operations and staff return to our agencies and centers.

While we continue to accept applications, process your payments, and safeguard your forms, we cannot update your passport status at this time. For more information, read our COVID-19 update.

I got all excited until I seen California was not on the list :worship:

Unless you need to go in person, the list isn't necessarily applicable. We're in the DC area, mailed ours in, and they were processed at the National Passport Center in New Hampshire, which is on this list of offices opening in their phase one.

Mailed in applications & renewals will still take a while, but the local/regional offices listed are more of a concern for those people who have to go in person, rather than submitting through an agent, or mailing an old passport for renewal.

We mailed in our renewal passport packets on Feb 27. On March 3rd they cashed our checks. My status says "in process" and my husbands status says "not found".

Well, mine never did update from status not found, but I received an email yesterday that it is in the mail on its way! Hope everyone else gets their's soon and we can all be back to traveling as soon as possible.

That’s awesome! When did you submit your application for it if you don’t mind me asking?

Yes! Just checked our local accepting agencies to see if they're open and what I have to do to renew mine. Our party has one person who can renew by mail (me) and one person who has to apply in person (mom). I'd much rather have piece of mind with a passport book instead of me with a card and mom with her ID and birth certificate.

Here’s a weird update for you. I got my passport on time sent it in the end of January. Received the passport requested in March. Although last week, June, I got my old passport back.

That is weird. I sent my renewal passport application in early February (before Lincoln's birthday, I think). I got everything back (new passport, passport card, and old passport) by mid March.

glad people are starting to see movement on their applications. we applied in early march (10th i think) and it's been a little nerve-wracking not hearing anything.

I think it may also depend on which passport center you mailed to. Ours was sent to Texas and check cashed first week of March. It is still showing in process.
