Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I told my husband that I’m giving DL/California until next Friday to announce something. If they announce guidelines that allow us to keep our DL trip, great! If they announce guidelines that don’t work for us, then we switch to WDW. If they don’t make an announcement, we switch to WDW. We’re scheduled for DL 10/25-10/31. I think I would try and keep that week or push it back one week for WDW.
See you at WDW we are there 10/25-10/30.

Bucking the trend, I say there will be mutually agreed upon guidelines by the end of next week, if the remaining members of the re-opening cadre (plus whatever health industry reps) work through this weekend.

I think the sheer amount of time most people spend at a theme park like Disneyland is one of the factors for the supposed distance restriction. Yes, people have traveled to DTD and other places, but do they stay 6+ hours there? Aren't they mostly self-contained within their own groups?

I wonder if there is a way to effectively form bubbles of guests and employees. That way, the risk of infection is limited to specific bubbles and contact tracing can be done, if needed.

A variety of Disney websites are now publishing stories per the OC Register that the rumored guidelines WERE all true. Yellow Tier, 120 mile radius, maximum capacity of 25% (leaving them nowhere to increase that, as yellow is the least restrictive tier...there is no green tier, for example). These guidelines are an absolute joke and I'm glad the state has relented on pushing forward with publishing them. A quick scroll through my Twitter feed uncovered 3 recently posted articles.

In addition, the mayor of Anaheim issued a statement and, among other things, he mentioned that there is still an open invitation to the Governor to come visit to see the devastation in Anaheim first hand.

So, he hasn't even VISITED THE REGION yet. Unbelievable.

Yep I'm kind of relieved he didn't post them.

Yes, the rumor is a good one. From the version I have heard, yellow tier is not part of it (I believe Orange is the tier color being required) And it was to be published this afternoon, however all parties have walked it back for "further discussions". I'm just waiting to see how it plays out. The distance is a sticking point between parties.).
What do you mean my sticking point between parties? Like both theme parks and government agree this should happen? Wow this is crazy. I didn't even consider not allowing people in California not to go to Disney. What a let down. I've been waiting since my first cancelled trip in April. Such a disappointment. See you never Disneyland.

I totally think so too. It looks like Disney is chompin at the bit and wants to get things rollin. Also, they may be non too happy about what looks like the state not even giving them the time of day as far as guidelines. They probably want to get this over with at soon as they can. I could see Disney offering to bend over backwards to accommodate whatever they need to get the guidelines fixed and fixed quick. I hope that made sense.

It's not just people outside of California. It's anyone outside of a 120 mile radius from Disneyland - a 2-hour drive, basically. So, everyone outside California and most everyone inside California, too.

that's what I was saying. I live in the Bay Area. I did not consider being not allowed because of distance. Maybe those who are out of state but I thought even that would have been a stretch

Sorry, I misread your post. It's been a long day.

The more I think about it the more disheartening it will be if DLR finally opens and (having tickets that expire next january AND an AP that doesnt expire until this December) I can't go because I live outside of an arbitrary range. I don't even want to think of it as a possibility it sucks so much.

The part about how this is the best they will ever get until COVID doesn’t exist hits home. 25% capacity and 120 mile limitation are all that will be allowed for what? Two years? Three? Science doesn’t even know when/if this will “go away”... just... HOLY SMOKES.

I’m thinking the same thing. I feel mentally prepared to make the switch to WDW but like I said before, Disneyland is home and I would be happy to just sit in New Orleans Square with my mint julep and soak in the happy vibes. First choice all the way for me right now..

I seriously wish Disney would at least go the dining and retail route for now. How much would you pay to have a beignet in NOS while listening to music?

I just got an email from the Grand Legacy at The Park that they will be reopening on October 13.

Record screech!

Are there any details or scoop in the email? Can you copy/paste the text, by chance? That would be amazing scoop!

@dina444444 : If the email has any codes or offers that are addressed to you, not to the general public, please don't post them here. Thank you.

If an offer is only for specific guests or for a specific mailing list, we ask that people don't post it. If the offer is for the general public, then posting is fine!
