READ POST 1 & 2 FIRST-Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group Planning and Information-*No Spoilers*

I saw posts elsewhere that people in Deland, FL and Davenport, FL were successful in getting a boarding group. Honestly, I don't believe there is a location restriction on the 7 am release (just need valid park admission and a DHS park reservation).

Correct. There is no location restriction. Let’s not overthink this.

I just had a thought, the people that had problems with no reservation, did you have multiple people trying for a boarding group? The post a few posts ago the kids got it but not the parents. I wonder if multiple people are trying no it screws up the system.

Right, if the location restriction is not being onsite, there is none. I don't see why they would make it something like 60 miles if they weren't going to attempt to upsell the hotels. Personally, I feel like what they're doing is almost a step backwards. The problem with the BGs is that reservations run out in less than a second, so its a very stressful and nerve wracking process. Before you were competing with maybe 30% of the people who were going to be in the park that day. Now you're competing with 90% of the people who are going to be in the park that day. I was hoping you just had to be onsite. I would have gladly driven to a parking lot somewhere to do it if it made it less competitive to the point you maybe had 4-5 minutes. Now you'll probably just get a few milliseconds.

up thread someone tracked the time and said the bg were open for about 20 seconds. I think we need to give this new process a day or two, day one is always a mess for anything Disney I.T. related

merged you to the right thread
You only need a valid ticket and park reservation to get a bg for the day, no matter where you are. You obviously need to be at least an hour from DHS to be able to get to your bg when it's called
Was wondering if any locals tried to get a boarding group today from home and if they were close enough to be allowed to try? Is the new system intended for Resort guests?

OK, 20 seconds is an improvement for sure. Its possible that it might be enough time to recover from a glitch. Unfortunately that 20 seconds might have more to do with all of the glitches and issues people were talking about. If they get it to where its firing on all cylinders it might get down under a second again.

I got Boarding Group 15 from my home in Tampa. No problem at all, but I'm wondering how many Floridians may have tried the process from home this morning just to determine what 'nearby' actually means. Not me, I'm riding! But tomorrow may be a better indicator of how well this will work.
While I can see some trying today, I'm pretty sure park reservations for today were already full when this change was announced. Unless someone picked up a cancellation, I don't think it would be easy for anyone with an AP to pick up a reservation for today just to give it a try.

Hoping very few tried this as it's already difficult for people going to the parks to get BG's. It's disappointing to think of people trying to get 'throw away' BGs. :(

So I think it's important for everyone to know that if you get an early bg, maybe 1-10 they might call you even before 10am, as Blog Mickey is reporting they started calling at 9:45am today, so again obviously being within an hour of DHS is important, the attraction technically is ready to open by 9am.
Now I don't think DHS will be calling bg much earlier than 9:45am cause the whole point is to spread the crowds out in the morning

What do people actually get when they go complain to guest relations about missing BG's?

Do you know what the return window was like for the early boarding groups? I hope that if they are starting before park open that they are extending the window accordingly.

well, it really depends, sometimes they just get a sympathetic ear to vent their frustration, a "we are sorry but there's nothing we can do" sentence
some get a guest recovery fp for another attraction
some get a bg

it's still one hour, they are a bit flexible on the times, so I'm sure if you were called at 9:45AM and get there at 11am you will be fine, they don't overly complicate things once you have a bg

We got boardin group 8. Was called at 9:52 and had to return by 10:52. Aren’t able to make it as we thought we would have more time and just got out of bed at 9:45. We are heading out of the room now just in case we have a chance

Under the old system, you occasionally got put in BG55(?). They had one BG that was for folks with issues. If you had a screen shot that shows you "were not in the park" or some other tech issue. My sister got put in the group once with a bus full of folks from her hotel. There was a transportation issue and they waited for 2 hours on the first bus. The entire bus load went as a group to guest relations and were put in BG 55. With the new limitations, who knows? But if you got a screen captures that shows you not having a park reservation when you did, or just part of your group got a BG, your odds are better.
