News Round Up 2020

Most stores pre-covid did amazingly well at Disney Springs and most were some of the top performers in their chains. In pre-covid land a luggage store did make sense IMO. You have people primarily who flew or drove long distances to get to WDW. People then buy things at WDW especially at Disney Springs and an extra suitcase is then needed to travel home.
I didn’t give actual statistics because I don’t have actual numbers but this has been said by several sources on WDWmagic repeatedly.
I've done this during travel for sure! Not from Disney but I'm sure many have had this happen and purchased an extra suitcase/bag to take purchases home. Totally understandable.

We've had to do this twice, but now I always pack an extra soft bag in my big checked bag to be used if necessary for laundry - I really don't care if that gets squished. Yes it takes up space in the big bag, but that too then leaves a little extra room for those Disney purchases that need a bit more protection than the laundry in the soft bag.

The times I did have to buy a new piece of luggage, I bought a Disney suitcase from the resort store - probably paid a lot more, but I rarely go to Disney Springs anymore, and it was a whole lot more convenient than trying to get something big like a suitcase back to a resort.

We travel with a foldable duffle bag these days. Too many times we got stuck needing to buy another bag. Now we just plan ahead. If we don't need it for more stuff it lets us separate dirty and clean laundry for the trip home. We travel only on Southwest so we don't pay for checked bags anyway.

I'd never heard of such a thing but these make so much sense!! Wish we were travelling to Disney as it's something I'd pick up for sure. Necessity is the mother of invention!!

I recently attented a convention that was turned into a virtual so they mailed everyone their "swag bags" and at least 50% of the things were sort of "pandemic" related and one of them was one of those "no-touch pulls" - obviously with one of the company's logos on it as a form of advertizing

Have you tried it? I thought about getting one as I don't like touching door handles to begin with but I also have issues sometimes with doors. I go too fast and stuff so I'm concerned I'd get tangled in the door trying to use it because it wouldn't unhook like I expect.

I'm also aware of how this all sounds and I swear I'm not a spaz, I just don't like door handles and seem to make it worse on myself when using a sleeve or something.

I haven't - to be honest I think I am the opposite of you in that I don't worry about things like door handles. I just try to wash my hands when I can etc, but just feel like dirt and germs and stuff exist in the world and nothing I can do to prevent 100% exclusion so I'm not going to worry too much

It's interesting that they say they also work for touch screens.... I have long fingernails, and often have issues if enough of my finger-pad doesn't touch the screen, so wondering how something that is not a stylus would work on them?

Too many other people don't wash their hands. Maybe not now, but before. I'm all about the good germs, I don't use antibacterial soap and had to buy hand sanitizer when all this was starting. Though I did have wet ones for shopping carts but mostly for wdw trips.

I've also worked places where it was the norm to still work if sick. I get maybe one cold a year and can generally trace it back to the person that coughed without covering or the cart/basket I couldn't find anything to wipe it off with because before we'd think nothing of that and then rubbing an eye or something.

I've seen other plain ones that do have the foam stylus on the end. I'm not sure how these would do without it.

As long as you wash your hands and you're not the type of person that constantly touches their face, you're ok.

I use mine CONSTANTLY and don't know how I lived without it. Theres some great ones via small shops too right now that I follow on Instagram so look around for one! Lots of great options now.

ALSO YES it DOES work on touch screens! I kinda angle it so its at one of the points but I use it for my building mail room all the time, no foam tip needed!

I got one as part of the return to work plan at my job, it's really neat but unfortunately it doesn't work for all doors, depends on the size of the handle. Definitely worth carrying one around though, especially if you already had concerns with touching door handles.

I wouldn't expect it to work on door handles at work that turn. But for stores and stuff I like it. Thanks for the info!
