News Round Up 2021

It's a fun and low key festival. We were there the 2nd year and enjoyed it.

I think we would love it.

It's just normally around here it's bad weather (snow, ice, sub-zero temps) and flying out of O'hare can be tricky, so we travel in other months.

Odds on it happening are almost nothing, but I wish they would move Hall of Presidents to the American Pavilion. Go back to one historical President speaking, even cut down on the number of displayed Presidents if you want to 20 or so significant ones. No one is going to miss Garfield or Van Buren or Tyler. Update the speech every decade or so. It would simplify the attraction, put it in a place where it "fits" better, and end a lot of the issues. I think, as a Walt legacy, Hall of Presidents should stay somewhere in some form, but it is a struggle to get my kids to go sit through it. And the last couple of times were not real pleasant experiences.

Honestly, I think they should shorten it a bit. I like the concept and would hate to see it go, but it could definitely stand to be changed a bit and trimmed down a bit.

Also, just for fun:

I've alwyas wanted to go to this one - it has looked cool to me since the first year. I still haven't gotten the chance and I don't think this year will be the best opportunity either. :(

we were able to go last year for the first time (towards the tail end) but we really liked it. The food is fun and the different types of art shown (normally there are the broadway performers for example) and just wandering and checking out the art and talking to the artists, etc. .... it just has a fun "vibe" and sort of the opposite of "typical theme park activities" so was a great change of pace (that was also our first chance to see Galaxy's Edge and mobs for that and the challenges with trying to get a Boarding Group, etc. - was just such a contrast to that "vibe")

For those of you that have been in the past few months, if you make a light saber at HS, are you able to ship it directly home from HS or do you have to do it yourself? Not sure if things have changed with COVID. We will be there in 2 weeks and originally planned on driving so DS had his heart set on building a light saber. We are now flying home and don't really want to deal with travelling with the light saber or walking around the park with it in that case. Any advice?

If this could happen, HoP would have the longest lines in all of WDW... :D

I mean, Disney does own production on the Simpsons now - though like Marvel I think the Universal deal makes it impossible. Nobody ever talks about that one.

I watched this last night and it was amazing. Totally brought back the memories. Wish this attraction could have survived until I could have taken my kids, but understand why it didn't, I am sure the maintenance was a nightmare.

I can't wait to see what else they come up with. I am curious where they got the audio for the ride. Just reminds me just how good the classic WDW attractions are when it comes to narration and soundtrack.

As a kid this was really my least favorite. :duck:

I do miss Snow White, Mr. Toad, and I wish Alice and Pinocchio rides were at WDW instead of Disneyland!

Completely agree. I hated the 20,000 leagues ride. Very claustrophobic in the sub, and there was always a BO smell in there too. All the ones you mentioned though are favorites of mine. Mr Toad was my all time favorite and I love going to DL and still riding it.

I loved 20,000 leagues but also was pretty young and only did it a couple of times - and to be honest, it might be more the memory of it that I love, but I do recall being pretty fascinated by it

I am also intrigued by the version they have at Disney Sea which is more individual capsules and the under water element is all simulated which is better for the set pieces

We rode it (well, the updated Nemo version) in CA in 2016 and yeah. I'm not usually bothered by enclosed spaces, but that one even bothered me.

It's a fond memory for me .. I am sure the ride itself probably wouldn't hold up today to me as an adult. But I think young kids would love it .. the fantasy, the adventure .. the "realism" of going underwater. Plus .. I was a fan of the movie, so seeing it "in real life" was cool for the elementary-aged me. But watching that and listening to the narration again gave me those same "Haunted Mansion" feels.

It’s a less interesting deal than the Marvel one, as it’s all encompassing and not in perpetuity. Not much to discuss, until we see what happens around 2028.
