Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

I'm in Virginia - our area just completely opened up 1b this week, which is includes much of our population. Both DH and I (and nearly everyone else I know!) are scheduled for tomorrow. I know I'm getting J&J because I'm being vaccinated at the site I volunteer at, but DH doesn't know which one. I'm hoping he gets the J&J as well.

I'm excited because I'm being vaccinated in the am tomorrow and volunteering at the vaccination site all afternoon, and my friends will all be coming in to get vaccinated. It'll be a happy day to see the all the people I love get the vaccine!

Thanks for being a volunteer!

Everyone I know in my area (Tampa FL) who is eligible for the vaccine has been able to get

My folks are in Lee County/Ft. Myers area and they've been looking for an appt. from down there, and we've been looking for them from up here, with no luck yet. They are on a list, plus we are using the vaccine website, walgreens, cvs, walmart, winn dixie, publix and some other place I've forgotten! Hope something sticks soon!

Yes- this morning! Maine changed it's qualifications to strictly age-based, so 60 and up are eligible in March, 50+ in April, 40+ in May, 30+ in June, and everyone else (including kids if there is an approved vaccine) in July. DH's appointment was today, mine was supposed to be on Saturday, but as I had an appointment for this week (so there's a dose "for" me) they let me go ahead and do mine when I went with DH (our neighbor, who works at the Center, clued me into this). We got in line at 9am. It took me longer than DH because I had to deal with the "change your appointment" line whereas he could go right in. It took him about 30 minutes, took me about 50. It was extremely organized and there were a LOT of people there- I'd guess in the hundreds. I got the Pfizer vaccine.

My mom got J&J at CVS on Saturday. We are in Ohio.
Thanks for replying. OH and NJ seem to have good supplies of J&J, while other states are not yet distributing. That makes for a frustrating situation for those who are allergic to an ingredient that occurs both in Pfizer and Moderna, but not J&J.

Just saw a headline that POTUS "seeks deal to buy additional 100 million doses of J&J COVID-19 vaccine" so hopefully your state's supply is going to get bigger soon!

I am a 50 year old in Indiana and received the Johnson and Johnson vaccination on Sunday 3/7 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The process was extremely efficient. We were in and out in 25 minutes, this included the 15 minutes waiting in a holding area to be monitored for an adverse reaction. I stayed in the car and the entire time and actually received the inoculation in a pit garage!
The actual injection itself did not hurt at all, and other than a little bit of soreness in my arm I felt fine on Sunday night. However on Monday I did wake up at 2:30am with a fever, chills, headache and body aches. I stayed home from work on Monday with theses symptoms plus extreme fatigue. On Tuesday, I experienced a slight fever, body aches and lessened fatigue but was still able to go to work— went to bed early! Today, Wednesday, three days prior I still have some body aches but the fatigue is much better no fever or headache. This tells me the shot is working, and that I’m also mounting a strong immune response. I also had Covid in early December and I don’t know if this is factoring into experiencing these side effects. I will say that my anxiety has lessened and I consider myself lucky to live in a state that has been so efficient in administering these vaccinations and ready to get on with my life! The side effects were a small price to pay! Very grateful!

There was a Dr. on the news Saturday night that said basically what you are saying--- he said he didn't want to frighten anyone, but you should go in expecting to have some sort of side effect, and that its actually better if you do. (he DID mention that he was not referring to people getting VERY sick from the vaccine)
But he did say that your body is doing what its supposed to be doing if you do get a bit sick, as your immune system is getting stronger.

I saw the live announcement, and that is good news. However, it looks like the additional supply won’t be available for a number of months. Even though this system is not perfect, it is amazing how fast the development of the vaccines has been. We all must have a bit more patience, I guess.

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden announced plans Wednesday to purchase an additional 100 million doses of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine, giving the U.S. more than enough supply to vaccinate the entire U.S. population.
"I am doing this because, in this wartime effort, we need maximum flexibility. There's always a chance that we'll encounter unexpected challenges or there will be a new need for vaccine effort," Biden said during a meeting with executives from pharmaceutical companies J&J and Merck.

"A lot can happen, a lot can change, and we need to be prepared."
Biden said this month that the U.S. was on track to have enough vaccine doses for every adult in the country to get vaccinated by the end of May after the Food and Drug Administration gave clearance for use of the J&J vaccine. White House senior adviser on Covid response Andy Slavitt said it was too early to say when the additional doses would become available.
"This order allows for the president to plan for the future and the latter part of the year," said Slavitt. "This is wartime, and as facts still emerge it gives us maximum flexibility for our upcoming needs."

Everyone I know in my area (Tampa FL) who is eligible for the vaccine has been able to get it; most have received both doses at this point.

Although college/university instructors are not yet eligible (K-12 teachers are), the word on the street is that there is a certain site that is vaccinating all educators, including those in higher education. My university even sent out an email with this information. I've been a little reluctant to take advantage of this. I'm not really in a high-risk group (although I'm not exactly young or my ideal weight) and I'd feel a little guilty. My university has done a great job of keeping both instructors and students safe (as much as is within their control, anyway) and I've never felt that my safety at work has been compromised. I'd still like the vaccine, though!
I really don't get the distinction between K-12 and higher education. My DD is a kindergarten teacher and I'm happy she was able to get vaccinated, but college students are much more likely to be carriers of Covid than little kids.

I got my second moderna dose this morning! With my first dose, the only symptoms were the sore arm and fatigue. I'm preparing myself to get the harder side effects with this second dose. We're at 5 hours post shot, and only a mildly sore arm so far!
You and I are vaccine twins. I got my second Moderna at 11 this morning. So far just a sore arm. I have been drinking Gatorade like crazy.
