Hi, thanks for this - am a bit of a newbie here, so please forgive me if my question is stupid, but why is it "not for the faint hearted" ? What is the risk ? Would be interested as your option sounds better than the current offer with "dining credits"...

There were some issues last year as bookings cancelled due to pandemic, I think it all depends who you rent points from and what T&C they have. Some are inflexible to change, some not so much. The more established brokers out there will charge more but might give some piece of mind.
Remember these are DVC rooms and not Hotel style rooms although difference is usually only the kitchenette and bed sofa instead of other bed. Check the rooms out Hear with the Ears YouTube Are good.

Happy to answer questions but you would just need a bit of research before committing to it.
I own DVC and that £2,800 for Boardwalk would work out as £1,700 for what I paid but that’s a whole other Disney rabbit hole to go down. Usually with free dining it’s similar but without that it’s a consideration.

Thanks a lot for your answer, Ruttangel. Have started reading a bit more about DVC rental on these pages and I am starting to see what you meant... being of a "what-if", slightly paranoid nature, maybe this option is not for me after all. Or at least not for the main part of our stay... :s

Has anyone been able to get through today and do you know whether they are likely to add the deal to our booking?

I went through yesterday. What they do is they rebook you and transfer over the deposit from your old booking. Therefore if you had a better price on the room on your previous booking or a room that now isn't available then the price wont be the same.

As above - they don't add it on they rebook you at the current prices and availability.

Its worth checking if the resort you are at works out the same / similar price to what you currently have booked before enduring the wait.

That means then that you lose the free cancellation on the initial booking? Because now it is not free anymore to cancel.
I was hoping to just adapt the initial booking keeping the terms you had back then....wishful thinking clearly

Luckily, it was only a £60 difference between my booking and the new one with the dining credit deal and gift card so works out slightly better. I will say, took 4 hours on the phone but they were so lovely once I got through.

Hi everyone, it’s my first time on here for years! We are booked for next year as my DH retirement holiday! I’m on hold right now but it’s 7.15 at night. Will they just cut me off at 8pm when they close or will they work through the people in the queue?

I stayed in te queue yesterdag evening till half an hour past the closing time. But I did not get through. I gave up after that half an hour as I did not know if they were still busy dealing with customers or if they closed and just kept playing Disney songs in the waiting line all night

Yay, they answered at 8.05pm Amended booking for 2 weeks at CBR in Sept next year, upgrading to standard king to take advantage of the deal. So excited already

We are booked for 2nd January! We tried the dining plan and ended up bringing home so much candy because we didn’t use it, I’m really excited about the dining card instead. It takes away all the bother of trying to get “value” out of your credits. Which isn’t easy when you’re a vegetarian who doesn’t drink much.

I was really in doubt wether or not to do this deal. It is significantly less value than with our previous trip in 2019, since in practice we pay 300 EUR less, but get 1000 USD less in value with the diningcredits instead of dining plan, but then we stay in a moderate instead of a deluxe for ten days. We are considering DVC rental (and on the long term buying in through resale), but we can make that choice when we're more certain everything will go through. We have booked for September 2022 so we can contemplate on that in the next winter.

Our thought was; worst case scenario we've lost 130 euros. But we will consider other options in the mean time. The lesser deal has made us opt for a longer stay at Universal and a shorter stay at Disney though. Last time we stayed four and a half weeks with 19 days at Disney, now we will stay three and a half weeks with 11 days at Disney.

Just weighing in, sorry haven't read everyone's comments. We had a standard room booked at CBR with virgin booked around a month ago. We called virgin and they cancelled our booking, re booked for a 5 person room and included the credits and waived the cancellation fee. Took ages and they weren't meant to do it because our room doesn't qualify. But if you get a great virgin employee it doesn't hurt to ask!

This actually suits me better than the DDP, to be honest. We are staying at POP, and will be eating off-site quite a bit (we missed our Dennys breakfasts last visit), so getting the choice on where to spend this money will suit us no end. We will probably splurge a fair bit on a couple of table service meals, and will probably end up spending the rest on snacks, with the odd counter service meal thrown in.

not as good as the dining plan. The character meals are super expensive, but with the dining plan, they're affordable. But on this credit system, you'll wipe out the credits really quickly with the character meals.

Think I'll stick with my offsite plan.

i just looked at the package offers. I picked a random date in july. The rates, after taking into account the food credit and the $200 gift card, the rate is still higher than the American rack rate. That's crazy.

We just booked with ATD got the dining credits and $250 spending money for POP. I wonder if the decline mousekeeping is still a thing? I got no issues changing my own bed and sticking a few cleaning items on my Amazon order. another $130 would be helpful

We've booked for next September. The dining plan is never a good deal for us, we never go for it but this deal was definitely worth it for us. Was looking at one week onsite and this deal meant 2 weeks was 'only' an additional 50% but with the dining card, $200 gift card, tickets and memory maker.

FYI anyone who works for NHS/emergency service (Blue light card) is getting an additional 5% off on top of this deal. Made it a (probably) once in a lifetime deal for us!
