Disney Genie+ and ILL$ Details & FAQ - Launches 10/19 at WDW, Paid "FastPass" at WDW and Disneyland (date TBD)

For WDW it is advertised that 40 rides will be included with Genie+

So how many rides does WDW have in total as of Oct 1st with RAT open?

46?

There are 56 rides and attractions but some of them don't have a line and some won't have a Lightning Lane (or didn't have a Fastpass lane)...

I did a quick review and I think if you subtract those you'd end up with 50 rides that could utilize a Lightning Lane - there might be 1 or 2 in there that didn't have Fastpass previously and that doesn't count Ratatouille. If we assume 2 rides per park being on the Tier 1 list, then 8 rides not included out of ~50 sounds about right. They did say there were more than 40 included in Genie+ so at least 41 included in Genie+ ?

you spend 14d+ at WDW A YEAR?

For AP holders that is not unusual, especially if you have a Florida Resident AP. DS1 and I have spent 4-6 weeks a year at Disney once he was out of school in 2006 up until the COVID situation. We went last month, are booked for November (normally we go earlier but waiting on AP to start back up).

We used to stay on property mixed with some off but now it is all off. We shop for the best price we can get, we can travel any time of year so hunt the low rate times, allows us to go often. A few trips we use points. Last month and November are MVC points gifted to me. I hope our AP is back but if not we have UO APs.

Hard to compare when maxpass includes all the rides.

Actually, MaxPass did not include all rides - it only included those rides at DL that had an FP option, which many did not. None of the Fantasyland dark rides for example had FP, including Peter Pan. At WDW I believe there is only People Mover that doen't offer an FP option at all. I wonder if DL is changing that, and if so, how will they manage to add dedicated LL queues considering their space constraints?

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I noticed it said "next available time". Suppose someone doesn't get up at 7:00 every day of their vacation. Maybe they sleep until 8:00, and " the next available time" for the ride they want is at 4:00. Directions say that you can use the "lightening lane" system "one at a time". So do you have to wait until you've used your first attraction before you can access another one? If so, how many attractions do you think are still available at 4:15? And what if you get to that attraction that you were able to use the "lightening lane" for and it's not so lightening fast at that time-maybe the ride had gone down previously, someone got sick on the ride, etc. Remember-you paid extra for this opportunity for the lightening lane. I wonder how full of Disney Magic you'll feel.

Yep - late risers are going to hate this system just as they hated the paper FP system.

and grand fiesta tour

Aha - yes! I knew there was another one! They'd be better off adding a Lightning Lane to La Cava - I bet they'd get some takers!

Voyage of the Little Mermaid is still closed, though I wasn't sure if that was comign back at all or not. I heard conflicting things, but I think the signs are still up. Finding Nemo the Musical is also still dark.

still quite a few shows missing there. I wonder if any of those will be back for 50th

I grew up when there wasnt a Disney nor big them parks. Guess what, I grew up happy and healthy. I qut going into the the theme parks. I bought DVC many years ago when it was reasonable and enjoy sitting at the pool and watching the world go by. When ,and most likely will, start going wild with maintenance fees I quit going going there, period.! Let the rich have it. i have a friend who is a multi-millionaire (if someone can tell me how to
get him to share let me know LOL) He said he got this way by working hard, saving (without denying any thing) He drives a ten year Ford. Said he will buy another one when it quits. He is happy.

What is also amazing he doesn't go around bragging about it. Just one of the guys.

What I think is most interesting is that with EVERY change of this sort that takes away or charges more there are all the complaints and “I’ll never go agains.” Then we follow up with until it starts hurting Disney they will keep finding ways to squeeze more $ out of each guest (naturally as a business would do). What I wonder if we will ever see is do we reach an actual tipping point where they have gone too far? Or will there ALWAYS and FOREVER be enough people who will keep feeding the mouse no matter how many “undesirable” moves with reductions or increased costs there are? For all the talk of “when it starts to hurt them” over the years, I don’t feel like they will reach that point… barring another HUGE economic hit, and who knows even then… they lived through this one…

Have you heard the rumor about the paid toilets in the park? If one is busy you pay extra to get into the fast poop line.

Unless LL access is released in blocks throughout the day. There is currently no guarantee that all the return times will be released in the morning like the old paper FP system. They may release and fill the return times in timed blocks if they fill up fast. ie 2PM return times may not open up on the app until 11 AM or noon. If a ride is currently unavailable on G+, it may not mean it's filled for the day, but just for the next few hours. This essentially puts everyone on equal footing after the initial 7AM drop and solves the question of sitting on a far off LL access.

It's called 'Lightning Lane' for a reason. I have a feeling only upcoming return times within 1-2 hours will be offered to choose.

I just don't see it working like this.

This is going to put a lot of brits off coming to Disney. We typically visit for 2 or 3 weeks and visit a park almost every day. For a family of 4, this would add £60 per day so up to $1200 per vacation. Wow. It was starting to be more cost effective to do Universal instead and stay at one of the delux resorts with free express lane. This clinches it.
