Hi everyone. We are moving forward with our May trip and staying at VGF. Our baby will be 14 months during this trip. We just went at 9 months and he hated both the pack n play and crib at the hotel but he was also teething at the time. At home he will still sleep in a pack n play when family stays in town but he wakes up several times. Our oldest when for the first time when he was 2 and slept on an air mattress. Thinking something similar might be a better backup in the event he hates the pack n play again. I could also pack a napper mat they use at school when they turn 1. Has anyone done this before?

My oldest slept in the pack n play without a problem. She just needed it to be super dark.

I'm sure someone somewhere has done just about every sleep solution in a hotel. My concern with the floor mat is that they are on the floor, and i don't know how someone in the middle of the night wouldn't trip over the kiddo.

13 month old in December slept in the Disney pack n play in the room
She wanted it completely dark, quiet, and next to our bed.
She only wanted to nap on the adult bed though...spoiled...

He would only sleep on the king bed in December. Needless to say I didn’t get much sleep worrying about him being in bed with us.

IDK for peace of mind that they don't go wandering around the room while you're sleeping I'd still do a pack n play.
I'd also bring a sound machine or small fan.

If he is a wanderer, it won’t work. We will have to see how he progresses. We always use one of our phones as a sound machine! Can’t travel without it.

We purchased a slumber pod to bring along on our trip, going to put it over our pack and play to give her a darker space since she’s used to sleeping in a dark room. I’ll also be bringing our white noise machine from home, not sure she would be able to sleep without it.

Maybe try using the pack and play for naps at home as practice for awhile and then work up to bedtime leading up to your trip? If you have a bedtime routine I would bring whatever you possibly can for that to try and keep it similar to home.

When our son was that age, we used a Guava Lotus travel crib. He is tall, and he was able to stretch out. Since the bottom rests on the ground, he was more mentally comfortable than with a pack and play

Our kids just slept in the other bed. They always struggled the first night of any trip, no matter where they slept, but after that it was fine. If your child does not like being "trapped' in a pack and play, I would just put him in the other bed with rails or bumpers. We just threw a couple pillows on the ground but they never fell off or had any other issues.

Our ds is the same. The first nap/bedtime is always the worst but it gets better from there. Usually he skips his nap the first day.

Do you use a mattress in the pack n play? We always travelled with a foldable foam mattress and mini crib sheet to use in the pack n play, and a portable white noise machine that we also used at home.

No, didn’t even know these existed! Might need to order one and try it out.

I'm a new grandmother and I didn't know these existed either.

My dd just ordered a new Pack and Play to my home for the baby to sleep in since what I have now is a bassinet and he is getting too big.

She ordered the Pack and Play and also a Memory Foam Mattress Topper for the Pack N Play so he isn't on the thin mattress that comes with it when he sleeps at my house.

It's actually sitting in boxes in front of my house and was just dropped off from Amazon.

The mattress that she ordered is:

Milliard Memory Foam Pack N Play Mattress Topper (2 Inches), $25.49

I’ll have to check this out too. It might be easier, or rather less bulky, to pack.

Not to be "that person" but you aren't supposed to add any mattress to a pack and play for safety reasons. I wouldn't worry about a toddler but a baby I would keep just the pack and play with a sheet :-) They adjust!

It's pricey but my toddler loves the lotus travel crib. We use it full time for her because we can keep it unzipped for us to snuggle next to her while she gets sleepy, and zip it up for safety while she sleeps. According to my 7 year old, it doubles as a sweet fort.
